I’m doing some research on tires. I’ve sorted tires by label design, a critically important aspect to any gravel bike. Haven’t seen this chart, so gonna lay this out.

Each tire is rated by the pros and cons with having that tire logo on your bike, and what it could mean to someone. Input is appreciated.

**Best looking label / good tires**

\*You prima donna.

Ultradynamico Cava/[Rose ](https://www.angrycatfishbicycle.com/product/ultradynamico-ros-jff-700-x-42-14256.htm?variations=253573?utm_source=google%20shopping&utm_medium=organic&gclid=CjwKCAiAtt2tBhBDEiwALZuhABB9N64aQ–gz119Td6lugfzYjae2LoIz9HjHxzmHLf8Tkr8WZ8ktBoCw4gQAvD_BwE) 42 – $65 Unarguably good looking, especially in black or the Race Grey. Light. Fast. Polarizing owner. No sidewall protection. Pretentious.

[Challenge Getaway ](https://www.biketiresdirect.com/product/challenge-getaway-xp-tlr-gravel-tire?v=700x40c&adl=1&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAtt2tBhBDEiwALZuhAPZz4pqCWd75vYAgEMj5kC9LDS6H2SfU9ujUCPZ_pfaKuArFuTIfWBoCmkMQAvD_BwE)40- $60-$90. With its CX pedigree, challenge is always good looking to those who know. IFYKYK. Fast, handmade, but super expensive and hard to mount. May or may not be puncture prone.

**Good looking label / good tires**

\*safe all around choice

[WTB Resolute ](https://www.backcountry.com/wtb-resolute-tcs-tire-tubeless?CMP_SKU=WTB003F&MER=0406&skid=WTB003F-BLA-S70FARODN&mr:device=c&mr:adType=plaonline&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_campaign=20668227549__p:G%7Cs:BC%7Cct:Shopping%7Cct2:pmax%7Cg:xx%7Cc1:BikeEssentials%7Cc2:xx%7Cb:xx%7Cmt:xx____&utm_term=__WTB003F-BLA-S70FARODN&utm_content=__pla&utm_id=go_cmp-20668227549_adg-_ad-__dev-c_ext-_prd-WTB003F-BLA-S70FARODN_mca-7811_sig-CjwKCAiAtt2tBhBDEiwALZuhAEF1tdUyO7xFqr_0VYklEuaCcBlPW16r6njToSa-KoJ8luZiaKwRkxoCVtEQAvD_BwE&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAtt2tBhBDEiwALZuhAEF1tdUyO7xFqr_0VYklEuaCcBlPW16r6njToSa-KoJ8luZiaKwRkxoCVtEQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)\- 42. Solid choice, look great on almost any carbon or steel gravel bike. Says, “I’m here for gravel and mountains.” There are edgier options, but nobody’s gonna complain. Could be confused for mountain biker if you are running 650’bs.

[Pirelli H/M ](https://www.competitivecyclist.com/pirelli-cinturato-gravel-m-tire-tubeless?skid=PIR1WUC-BLA-S700&CMP_SKU=PIR1WUC&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=c&mr:adType=plaonline&mr:ad=&mr:keyword=&mr:match=&mr:tid=&mr:ploc=9061089&mr:iloc=&mr:store=&mr:filter=&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_campaign=20490880759__p:G%7Cs:CC%7Cct:Shopping%7Cct2:pMax%7Cg:xx%7Cc1:Components%7Cc2:xx%7Cb:xx%7Cmt:xx____&utm_term=__PIR1WUC-BLA-S700&utm_content=__pla&utm_id=go_cmp-20490880759_adg-_ad-__dev-c_ext-_prd-PIR1WUC-BLA-S700_mca-4768825_sig-CjwKCAiAtt2tBhBDEiwALZuhACV679fOvqzXh0gv0CHsFm7-C7RTWnBmxDpnZo-MLlZ6EqU6LX90TxoC2F0QAvD_BwE&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAtt2tBhBDEiwALZuhACV679fOvqzXh0gv0CHsFm7-C7RTWnBmxDpnZo-MLlZ6EqU6LX90TxoC2F0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)\- 40. Modern design. Great all around tire. Says, “I like carbon and appreciate Audi or Porsche’s design choices. Could be outed as an aero loving Roadie or Triathlete depending on other elements of gravel bike, like a 3T. Don’t see them on steel frames too often.

[Panaracer Gravel Kings ](https://www.biketiresdirect.com/product/panaracer-gravelking-sk-650b-tire?v=brwn43c&adl=1&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2eKtBhDcARIsAEGTG40ujUU00BiBVQn5TqzuIhN8UPhuOS1qdKlpoyHRZLJeQTVhGh-DWGoaAsvjEALw_wcB) \- (many widths). Can’t go wrong. Look especially great on steel frames stored inside the back of a vintage Land Cruiser. Too Popular? (This is currently my other set of tires, but I have the EXT, which most people don’t use, as they are 38’s)

**Ugly Label / very good tires**

\*Ride these if you want to go fast. Cause you need these logos to blur.

Tufo [Swampero ](https://www.tufo.com/en/gravel/detail/gravel-swampero/)/ Thundero – $50. Low rolling resistance, low weight, highish TPI, cheap, the same company as Donnelly the CX company, what’s not to love? Oh yeah, goofy inflated TUFO logo. I get it, it’s a tire.

[IRC Broken Double Cross](https://www.performancebike.com/irc-boken-double-cross-tubeless-tire-black-700c-42mm-190587/p1354485?v=1287151&gclid=CjwKCAiAtt2tBhBDEiwALZuhAGwggYWDOk9EZouejHEq4p8UKvJIcgOZ-DoaupMG8IcisMq4vH79VxoC4LoQAvD_BwE) \- $60. \*Gets good all around marks. 42 width. The label looks cheap, could be confused with a discount Kenda tire. They are using 80’s nascar red.

[Continental Terra Speed ](https://www.backcountry.com/continental-terra-speed-tire-tubeless?CMP_SKU=CONF02J&MER=0406&skid=CONF02J-PROBLACHI-S35M&mr:device=c&mr:adType=plaonline&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_campaign=20668227549__p:G%7Cs:BC%7Cct:Shopping%7Cct2:pmax%7Cg:xx%7Cc1:BikeEssentials%7Cc2:xx%7Cb:xx%7Cmt:xx____&utm_term=__CONF02J-PROBLACHI-S35M&utm_content=__pla&utm_id=go_cmp-20668227549_adg-_ad-__dev-c_ext-_prd-CONF02J-PROBLACHI-S35M_mca-7811_sig-Cj0KCQiA2eKtBhDcARIsAEGTG42nnaN__S2lx03GRGjdIrhoLlLMhx46Vf-Htyd7nmhelE08WBI8CQ4aApRTEALw_wcB&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2eKtBhDcARIsAEGTG42nnaN__S2lx03GRGjdIrhoLlLMhx46Vf-Htyd7nmhelE08WBI8CQ4aApRTEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)\- Pricier. Low rolling resistance which means it’s fast. Who would know with that schoolbus yellow and blocky font. Wish they had gone old school Continental Design, like a Hoosier tire, then it would be much cooler.

FWIW my Current new bike has Bontrager GR1 / GR2. Which are bad in almost every category.

I’m leaning towards challenge Getaway, the Swampero / Thundero’s, or WTB Resolute. So it’s gorgeous or ugly for me.

What logo are you riding on your gravel bike? (Yes, this is meant for fun)

  1. Tufo labels are enormous but I do appreciate the tire size square in bright red in the middle so you can use that to align your valve stem to. 😁

I like the TUFO logo lol. Also I own Pirelli M, Specialized Pathfinders and Ultradynamico Cava. The latter wins the looks dept hands down but I am curious to learn more about the polarizing owner comment.

Zipp G40 XPLR – great looking tire, never had a flat. Runs great on most surfaces too.

  4. I see you’re missing the Ugly Logo / Shit tire category which the Spec Pathfinder has on lock.
