Join us on our World Cycling Adventure: First 2 Weeks in Europe!
Hey there, everyone! We’re excited to have you join us as we embark on our cycling journey across continents beginning with Europe. In this vlog, we’re sharing the highlights from the initial leg of our slow-paced adventure.
We kicked things off with heartfelt family goodbyes. From Belgium, we first crossed Luxembourg before pedalling our way to the vibrant energy of Strasbourg Pride. It was great to be part of such a lively celebration!
We also had our fair share of surprises. Caught in the midst of a sudden storm in Basel (Switzerland), we found ourselves cycling against the wind and rain.
And let’s not forget the stunning landscapes of Bavaria, Germany. We pushed ourselves up those challenging hills, the views from the top were absolutely worth the effort.
Whilst we’re on this journey, we want to take the opportunity to use it as a platform to raise money for an Oxfordshire, UK based charity organisation that we not only think is doing an incredible job, but also hits close to home. Yellow Submarine believes people with learning disabilities and autism deserve to live life to the full.
They tackle the problem that many people with learning disabilities leave school with: limited life skills and as a result poor life chances. With ongoing training and empowerment from early years to adulthood, Yellow Submarine aim to ultimately improve their employment.

We have finally departed yay! At a sweet 6:30 in the evening We just came into Luxembourg So this is officially our first country from Belgium Amazing! We have now entered Strasbourg A couple of days ago we organised a Warm Showers So we’ve met with these people at their apartment
We drop our bags, our bikes We went to go for a tour around the town And to our surprise it is Pride! The atmosphere is electric, everybody is having fun and it is a really lucky day to land in Strasbourg and come and see their Pride! The storm is just coming
I feel like we have been one step ahead of it for a couple of days and now it’s finally caught up It looks massive!! Suddenly the wind has picked up It’s gone nuts This came in in the space of 5 minutes Let’s go Sophie! The lightning started coming now
It’s not just us that’s taking shelter as well We are just going to camp here We decided that as the storm is probably going to last quite a while And at least the rain is going to last most of the night we are probably going to camp in this tunnel
We definitely going to make dinner now, then we will see later But maybe we end up setting up the tent! The tent? In the tunnel. No, we’ll just put our sleeping mats out Happy with that! We’ll be alright. Basel is safe.
So we left it a bit late now so It’s 10:30 pm and we are still trying to find a place to sleep We are cycling now out of the city and I’m sure it’s going to be all good. So we did manage to find a place to sleep yesterday We ended up cycling off the main road and driving between loads of farmers’ fields. we eventually found this shack
We ended up putting our tent behind it and sleeping here. We woken up in the morning to find lots of workers in the field behind us but nobody bothered us so we slept quite well at the end even though it did rain quite heavily last night Did you sleep well? No.
Me neither We did not sleep well last night I’m quite pleased with myself I had an idea and I just brought it to fruition What should I call it? I should call it… The Spider’s net S-Net The Snack-Net sure. for a bicycle. S-Net-Cycle Good morning We woke up on the beach today
Because we slept under the stars last night for the first time We crossed the ferry yesterday and we are still next to Lake Constance You are not allowed to camp here with your tent so we decided to not put the tent up and just sleep with our sleeping bags and sleeping mats
Honestly this is a little bit mental we have reached a section just before Munich a region that is just all hills We must have done about 10 hills today and yesterday it was pretty hilly too my legs are knackered each time I get to a hill now I’m kinda
Questioning if I can get to the top of it. but still manage to push through it mainly on the promise of snacks when we get into the next town which is about 3 km away but as we are currently doing 3.5 km/h, that is actually quite far away.
Sophie is bringing up the rear but that is actually unusual Sophie is a hill eater I cannot explain to you it’s insanely impressive. Angry! We have done our last hill for the day, so we are very excited we just filled up our reservoir 6 liters from the fountain nice
That’s going to be for our shower later now it is 8:05 pm we are going to go and look for a wild camping spot
