  1. In summary, I’m hoping to learn more about the long-term exposure to dust generated from riding on gravel roads. Most gravel roads in the US contain crushed quartz, which generates airborne silica. Additionally, there are other additives which may be a health risk as well. There are plenty of studies demonstrating the health hazards of gravel roads, particularly for people who live very close to them.

    What is mostly unknown is whether activities such as gravel cycling alone or in large groups, and with occasional disturbances of dust by traffic, may generate enough harmful particles to warrant precautions.

  2. While I think this is cool. I also don’t need to think about it. I enjoy it and I guess if I die a few years early it’s gonna be worth it.

    Btw, do you have the references to people living near gravel having poor health. Very interested in that aspect.
