I am looking to switch from my old grandpa bike to a new one.
I live in Berlin (super flat city) and my work commute is around 10 km.
I looked around and I found different bikes that could be suited for this but I cannot find a clear winner.
The first contender is the mighty Decathlon Elops 500; very cheap (240-300€), no shift (don’t think I would need gears that much since the city is super flat, and also cheaper and easier maintenance), reliability is a big question though.
The second one is the Specialized Sirrus X 2.0, a much more complete bike, bigger tyres (nice on cobblestone in the city center), not so cheap (540€ new) but not so expensive or flashy that I would be afraid to leave it around even for a bit, lots of attachments for racks, mudguards, etc…
What do you guys think it’s best? Do you have experience with these bikes?

I would take the sirrus as its a super convenient bike. If you can bare the a little bit more serious look, i would even vote for the equipped version (should be roughly 100€ more) because you never know how convenient dynamo + fenders + rack are unless you tried
