Hey all.

I’m a big boy, trying to get more into biking to help lose some weight. Currently 350lbs, 6’2″. Work a physical job and am on my feet all day, so I’ve got a good set of legs on me.

I’m up in Edmonton, Canada, and am looking for a fatbike to use for a mix of commutes and recreation during the winter. Currently have a hybrid with studs, but am thinking a mtb with nice fat tires would be great in the snow and slush. Would be mostly streets and some easy trails to start with.

The Blizzard lineup is on sale at a local shop atm. Looking at the aluminum frame A10 or A20, sale puts them into my price range. Any thoughts on these two? Any other recommendations? My budget is kinda tight, topping out at about $1500 Canadian. Also thinking about popping a motor on at some point, if thst makes much difference.

  1. It is hard to know 100 percent but I would vote for it.
Here is what I saw that makes me say yes. Aluminum frame with a good warranty. I was not able to find a weight limit but it might be good to ask. The wheels look good, they have 32 spokes and the muelfut rims are good, I have built wheels with them. I had a set of their hubs too and they seemed fine, like what you would get stock on any bike but I sold the wheels before putting enough miles to have any real opinions. The Shimano drivetrains are durable too.

Honestly I think it is as good as anything especially if you have a shop that you can buy from. If you do have any warranty type problems it is much nicer dealing with a shop than online only brands.
