  1. The barrel adjuster is all the way in so you’ll need to undo the cable and loosen it a few mm then tighten it again – then as the pads wear you can just tighten the barrel adjuster. That way next time you have to change the pads you just wind it all the way in again.

    I think I’d change the cable while I’m at it though – it’s looking quite worn.

  2. Pop the pinch bolt on the cable and the calliper should open up. Fit your new brake blocks then pinch the calliper together, pulling loose cable through, and refasten. You can then use the barrel adjust to fine tune the feel of the brakes. As a previous poster suggested it will undoubtedly work much better with a new cable.
