Yeah you cut it after getting a bike fit from someone qualified, and still leave room for a spacer on top.

  2. Get a pic of as many stems can fit. Stem, spacer, stem, spacer. With bars, drops, flats, risers. My guess is four. See if you can throw four stems with bars on that thing.

I would personally put 30mm of spacers under your stem, then a 10mm spacer over the stem and then cut it. That way you have a lot of room for adjustments. Most fork manufacturers recommend a max of 30mm-40mm under your stem for safety reasons btw. To be able to properly adjust the bearing play, you’ll need to add another 2-5mm spacer on top of the stem.

  4. Called a “steer tube” and yes you can do it at home with some tape as a guide and a normal hacksaw, if you’re competent

  5. Since you have to ask, please don’t hack it and let someone elso do it and let them show you the way. Measure thrice, cut it purposely too long so you can ride around with a safety spacer chimney for a while until your position is 100% dialed in.

Don’t cut the tube. They made it this way so you can have 3-4 handlebar options at a time. I personally like to run risers, drops, and bullhorns. Each of them having their own stem. Its the most ergonomic IMO.

  7. If you hack it, you could get all of the carbon splinters permanently stuck inside your lungs for life, so if you cut it yourself wear lung protection and constantly apply water to your cutting tool and the steer tube, don’t touch it, and don’t breathe it in.
