I know… ready to see this in r/BicyclingCirclejerk

So, basically, the [Tuscany Trail](https://www.tuscanytrail.it/en): 470 km loop, 6800 m of elevation gain, 50% off-road. It will be my first multiday bikepacking adventure and since I’ve a job and a family I have to do it in 5 days top. I’m not worried about the distance, but I fear the climbing. I live in the southern part of Milan and is soooo flat, most of elevation gain I do is going out from underground garage.

Is there some training I can do on a regular basis to train for the climbings without actually climb? No indoor training, I can ride, run or swim

Just get fit. Lots of kilometers. Gear selection is what will get you over the mountains. You need to know what you can spin for three hours. When you get on the hill, choose a gear and pace that you can pedal without breaking very hard. It takes some practice to find it. Brifters really help. I doubt you’ll run out of gear with the gearing you mention.

  2. Just do as many rides as you can fit in your free time, that’s the best you can do! Training hill climbs specifically isn’t necessary, good luck
