I’ve never ridden a bike in my life but recently I thought it could be fun to learn, and maybe I could ride around my town. Is this one any good? Anything stick out about it? Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.
It’s a good manufacturer, but not a great bike. The components are suspect, especially that front shock.
You should be able to find a good used starter bike for $150-200. Below are some of the ones I look for that make good commuters and utility bikes. Also look for a bike coop in your area. Great places to learn a lot and score a good used bike cheap.
Old bikes I like that should be in your price range: Trek 930 & similar, Specialized Rockhopper & similar, GT mountain bikes, Giant mountain bikes. Many more.
Feel free to DM me. I’ve bought and fixed up several old bikes. Good luck!

You could do a lot worse for a first bike. It’ll get you where you want to go, is repairable and from a legit bike manufacturer.
If you end up buying it and really enjoy riding, then you could think about something nicer in the future.

If you are about 6′ tall this Mongoose might be a good choice in that price range. They claim its tuned up and ready to ride.

No, it’s a horrible choice.
Buy an entry level TREK FX1 or Verve 1.
It could work, but I’d pass on this one.
