Just got the Grizl 8 1by in size XL, but I’m struggling to decide whether the size fits or not. Looking at the pictures (I know that I sit with a strangely straight back) and the size chart it definitely is the right size, however it just feels as if I need to lean/grab the handles too much forward, even though I moved the saddle as far to the front as possible. I also own an Endurace AL 7 Disc from 2021 size XL which feels great, but has a reach of -20mm compared to the Grizl. I plan to use the Grizl for some bikepacking, so comfortable > sportive.
I think about changing the stem to angle +10° up instead of down or even exchanging to a shorter one. (Also I’ll change the pedals to SPD, but that’s another topic)

What would you guys suggest? Just give it a try as it should fit or would you downgrade to size L, as the reach of the Grizl L compares to the reach of the Endurace XL? Appreciate your inputs!

  1. Sometimes you can feel too stretched out but actually the reach may be too short. Too steep of a shoulder angle from a short reach can make it seem like you’re too stretched out.

It looks like the handle bar is mounted too much facing downward. Have you checked the position of it?

  3. I would suggest raising the seat….your knee when the pedal is at 6 o’clock should be more open.
