A glimpse into the history of Prescot, Lancashire: A brief look COPT HOLT LANE – It got its name from the Anglo-Saxon term for Coppiced Woodland (copt = coppice and holt = wood). The name originates from the 6th century when this through road was no more than a country lane passing between farmland. If you carry on down this road and to the right and onto the Prescot township boundary of Whiston & Rainhill you come to an area known as COPT HOLT. 😀😎
Today this road is known as Kemble Street.

When was it Copt Hall Lane? It was Hillock Street prior to being renamed Kemble Street in 1871
