Spent a few days following a tangled wreck of rugged gravel logging roads across Vancouver Island’s wild backcountry.

Made camp on San Josef Bay in the northwest corner before continuing south through Port Alice and the Huson Caves, a remote collapse of triassic limestone cut by a river that disappears underground. Massive trees are rooted to each and every rock in all directions. One minute you’re gliding along a perfectly calm pine bed of old growth rainforest, turn one corner and you’re pushing straight uphill across a bomb site of rocky shrapnel.

Currently cycling from Alaska to Argentina and documenting the full trip on FB, IG, TikTok, etc. (at) donivanberube if interested ✌🏼
