    Climbing Exhibition & A GC Reshuffle! | Tour De Suisse 2023 Highlights Men – Stage 5



    Stage 5 is a brute of a day: 210.2km long and filled with big climbs and tricky descents. The HC Furkapass (16.5km at 6.4%) and cat. 1 Oberalppass (10.7km at 5.5%) come early in the stage, but it’s the HC Albulapass (17.4km at 6.8%) and the 10km descent to the line in La Punt where the stage will be decided.

      Bahrain-Victorious have confirmed that their rider Gino Mäder has died after crashing during stage 5 of the Tour de Suisse. All at GCN would like to send our deepest condolences to Gino’s family, friends and teammates at this incredibly difficult time. Rest in Peace, Gino.

      The young man is gone. This sport is dangerous and more safety should be added to protect athletes. Going down the hill 100kmh is crazy. Stop this.

      No mention of the crash or the riders comments about having the finish at the bottom of a decent. I noticed the sound of a helicopter (air ambulance?) at the end though… 🤔

      The "side-on" view of this stage – with those pointy triangles – looks VERY much like a block of TOBLERONE! 😍
      Most appropriate for the Tour De Suisse! 🤣 And yummy…
      But not so 'tasty' for the riders. HARD WORK!
