After not even a year of fixed gear felonious riding, left crank broke when starting from a traffic light. *Sorry for the non drive side pic.*
I did some dumb shit with it, but didn’t expect to fail this way. Now i have a weird feeling that something else will give in at some point. Even if I like high end stuff, i don’t want to spend huge ammounts of money on my fixed gear.
Got any recommendations of sub 150β¬ cranks? Maybe without a chainring, since i already have a nice one, 144 bcd.
I’m from Romania so it would be nice to get them from inside EU so I don’t have to pay a lot of taxes.
Thanks

Maybe some sram s300? There are also some people recommending an aliexpress crankset, which I think was called skeace. I personally would only buy a more expensive crankset, but I also have never had a crankset fail so I think these will be alright
Curious what cranks broke on you?
The Andel cranks are an ok option if you are looking for a decent price point, logo-less, 144-BCD option. I know others find them kind of ugly.
That saddle angle lmao
Blb notorious cranks, which are rebranded andel but without an insane mark up. They cost 160β¬ but come with a chainring I belief. So you could sell that and be below 150β¬.
Miche 2.0 would be an obvious choice. That’s why no one mentioned it.
Stronglight are pretty good quality for the price, made in France so should be easy to find.
Glad youβre OK.
I appreciate the post as itβs one more saved to my folder βreasons to always have a front brakeβ
Not helpful to finding new cranks, but that’s an excellent example seeing a crack propagate based on the fracture surface. At the top right you can see what are referred to as “beach marks”, and this indicated a crack slowly propagating with subsequent loading until the cross section diminished enough for a full failure.
I would say that checking for cracks would have prevented this… but I never do anyways so ride on!
