I recently picked up an aluminium frame with the intention of building it into a gravel bike. When it came time to install the bottom bracket, I discovered that the threads on the left side were stripped, preventing me from using a regular bottom bracket. After some research, I found a threadless option that essentially threads into itself (YST Threadless External Hollowtech Bottom Bracket).

My question is: In the attached photos, you can see that it sits flush on one side, but on the other side, it doesn’t seem to snug up against the frame, leaving a small gap that persists no matter how much I tighten it. Is this normal, or am I missing something in the installation process? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

You’re missing a spacer – for a MTB BB/chainset on you need a spacer on the drive side (on a 73mm shell – if it’s a 68 then you need one on one side and 2 on the drive side).
