I posted a while back but wanted to provide an update. This is my beater Fuji bike used as a “ grab and go bike “ with its flat pedals. The front rack is a modified $30 schwinn rear rack purchased from Target. Previously I was using an allthread and eye bolt setup for the two front arms going down to the axle. They were just a little too flexy for my sanity while carrying this precious cargo so I changed them out to 1/8” angle aluminum. Turns out they are much more rigid and solid then the allthread. Update two is the larger milk crate with a thick anti fatigue mat on the bottom, and insulation tubes on the top for random bumps. Its not the prettiest looking contraption but, man ,it’s fantastic cycling with your dog. My beagle fits in the crate as well. The only thing I wish for is that this bike could fit wider tires for a more plush ride on harsh sidewalks. The 23c’s are the biggest that will fit in between the rear triangle.
