Hey there chipmunks welcome to the am cycling ride review series I’m your host angry chipmunk and today we’re going to be taking a look at a ridiculous Italian climb molo this route is available on Ruby so let’s get straight into it this route is the pass only so it’s just 14
Km long but with a massive 1,68 M of elevation gain it averag is 8% and maxes out at a whopping 19% now there is a reason why this is considered one of the toughest climbs in the world it’s steep it gets steeper and then it’s steep but
We’re dumb Chipmunks We can totally do this now this is the second or third mottolo I’ve done across two virtual platforms and while it is tough it’s not the toughest thing you’ve ever done ever we’ll go through it bit by bit and all you chipmunks out there will be
Ascending like pantani in no time there’s one straa segment included on ruy however the entire route is a segment in itself the ruy segment is EST strad Del motoro and it starts at about the 6.6 km Mark is about 7 1 12 km long and has 617 M of elevation gain this
Particular segment is considered a cat 2 climb and averages 8.2% about a third of the way up it hits a peak gradient of 18% you’ll see several sections in double digits with a few moments of reprieve in the way of single digits here why this is included
And not the entire pass I don’t know but it’s none too different from the first half of the route the Full Pass segment is considered an HC clim along this route you’ll be seeing several sort of Leap Frog sections of lower gradient especially in the first
Half watch for them and use them well to help Pace your effort and recover some energy the steeper bits tend to lump together so you’ll be seeing say 12 to 14% for several hundred m and Then followed by a mellow section that backs off to single digits and then
Another grouping of 10 to 12% etc etc it’s really not too bad and it helps quite a bit to get up those steep sections knowing that you won’t have a surprise top out up around a corner now for this one you will definitely be needing a very good warm-up there’s a
Short 200 M of descent before hitting the pass but it’s not enough to actually use I would say you’ll be wanting at least 10 to 15 minutes here to make sure your legs are warm and stretched before starting there’s also a short descent at the top of the mountain but again it’s
Nothing you can use to cool down so a proper good cool down is a must and as this is the pass only you’ll want to pre fuel with plenty of protein to help sustain your energy levels this is a tough one to fuel as there’s no real
Sections where you can easily eat a bar I would recommend fueling mostly with quick and easy carbs here anything like gummies a Mini Chocolate Bar sports drink or juice I myself like to have pouches of fruit puree as it’s very easy to eat and easy to digest they don’t
Have the carb content of a gel but are undoubtedly far healthier choice I would also recommend an electrolyte water for this one either full sugar or sugarfree you’ll be expending quite a bit of energy no matter what time of year it is and if you’re heading for the warmer
Months this is key to not dehydrating definitely follow this one up with a protein of some sort and a magnesium supplement this will be pretty tough on your legs The View on this one is amazing nothing compares to mountain passes and it will never disappoint there’s plenty
Of lush Greenery to look at along the way and Clear Blue Skies to light it up the mountains peeking through are in full Majestic Glory so be sure to look around every once in a while now this was one of the first omn mode routs that
I did and it was definitely weird at first I prefer to use firstperson view on all of my rides to get the best immersive feel I didn’t like that the avatar was being in the shop most of the time but that’s just my personal preference the different angles are
Unnecessary for me but they’re fun to see what you can actually do with them this ride took me just under 1 and 1/2 hours to complete on 100% difficulty emulation so with the warmup and cool down needed on this one you should be looking to budget anywhere from an hour
And a half to 2 and 1/2 hours it’s not really a good rout for those with time constraints overall this is a fantastic ride and I would definitely recommend it for any climbing Enthusiast this is not one I would recommend for a newer climber though as it is actually quite
Tough the short distance can be a bit deceptive and how hard it actually is but if you’re a clean climber this is a classic route that is a must do don’t be put off by thinking it’s definitely difficult I managed it and so can you
For this route I will give it a five of five it’s a mountain pass that’s really all you need to know for the climb five of five not the most difficult thing ever but it is hard it’s got plenty of spots where the gradients back off allowing for some recovery The View five
Of five of course this one is full summer so really beautiful Green Landscape surrounded by The Majestic elps and overall five of five definitely put this one in your ride CU well that’s it for this review so thanks for watching Chipmunks and please let me know what you think of mortola when
You’ve completed it is it really as hard as everyone makes it out to be or is it just a fantastic challenge I’ll leave you to finish the rest of the ride and I’ll see you next week for another review until then ride on Chipmunks ride On Aahah Oh N Do N N A Oh N
