I am looking to build this frame up but I dont want to fully strip and recoat the frame just because it has some chipped paint. Also it has a few really nice and untouched chromed parts that I dont know if they could be kept while stripping/powdercoating.
How can I prevent spots like these from rusting further? Is it just as simple as covering all threads and covering the frame in clear coat?

Sand down any visible rust and touch up the bare sections with nail polish or enamel model paint from a hobby shop.
Paint, its the main purpose of painting, to preserve whatever is painted.
I use Brunox Epoxy for small touch ups.
