I’m looking for budget-ish friendly BB and crankset recommendations.
I’m rebuilding this old GT and I have it completely stripped down. Eventually I’d like to run a 1×11 drivetrain but for now I’m looking to use a Shimano Acera X (7-speed) and only upgrade my front cranks, chainring and BB. I don’t have the money to do it all at once.
Should I stay with a square taper, or update to spline or hollowtech styles?
Do I choose my crankset first then choose a bottom bracket?

Find a used crankset 4 bolt (symmetric) 104 BCD and the correct BB length (square ideally) and you can get plenty of 1x rings for these.
