Recently I picked up a ‘Dark Warrior’ suit from Montonsports. I can’t fault it for its fit or cut. It has a sanremo opening front and pockets, so both aero and good for longer rides. However I had a feeling this would be the case, the padding is very ‘critty.’ Not as well padded as some shorts and designed for crit events. I want to use for some spotives and worry about comfort even though it is brand new.
So as you can see in the not too exciting picture the pad is about half a mil thick at the sides and has two thick bits down the middle. I am not averse to a bit of sewing and reckon the back edge could be unpicked and something slid underneath. I am just wondering if anyone else has ‘boosted’ padding. What sort of material have you used that is flexible but robust enough to fit between pad and lycra? Anyone else revived new/old shorts that are just not supportive down below? Cheers.

I retire them to short rides, write an explanation to my wife as to why I need more cycling kit (she insists it in writing) and then get looking for a new pair.
You just can’t add padding like that, it needs to be very specifically shaped and I don’t think possible to do yourself
