I’m about to make my first trip to Spider Mountain later this month and I’ve been watching YouTube videos to get an idea of all the trails and I found this lady talking about how bad the trails are. She says she’s an advanced rider and has been riding her whole life. She has been down descents way steeper and would not go down some of the trails. Should I be concerned for my safety?

I jumped to a random point. She was talking about how the tech trails had too many holes to shed her over the handlebars. Isn’t that the point of tech to be challenging and to pick your lines correctly? I’ve never ridden there so I’m just nitpicking.
never been to spider mountain, but this lady has no idea what she’s talking about
I am a mediocre XC guy, this was the first bike park I’ve been to other than Bentonville, and I was on an XC bike and didn’t have any problems. My 9 year old son and 6 year old daughter shred down those trails no problem on hardtails. My wife who at the time had no tech skills had no problem there. (she does now, god help me)
Stuff felt way safer and tamer there that at Trestle, where I felt like my wimpy XC bike was gonna die! lol
That lady is a certified goofball, no way around it.
Don’t bother with YouTube videos with 100 views…
I go to spider every once in a while. It’s really running smooth when the trail crew is preparing for a race. But there are parts, particularly on the single and double black where it’s rougher and you need to know how to ride it. The locals there will show you, and you’ll probably be able to watch someone else pick the right lines if you wait by off the trail.
I’ve been there multiple times as a beginner and experienced rider. There’s nothing unusually dangerous about it lmao. It’s a piece of cake compared to Arkansas, Colorado, PNW..etc. She’s being silly
I live in the area and spider is great. Lots of tech, but decent flow lines as well. The greens are mega chill, the blues are aptly named, and even some of the blacks aren’t bad for newer / intermediate riders if they take it easy. Park kinda lacks variety in the jump department, but Station and Revielle Peak Ranch make up for that in spades.
On that note, I absolutely recommend hitting those two other parks because they’re dope as hell, and all three in the area compliment each other really well. Revielle would probably be my top recommendation, but it’s a day pass use place with no shuttles or lift. It’s best to go with someone that know the park.
Station is a dope shuttle park with killer jump lines and some good tech. It’s the newest of all of them. They’re still putting work into it, but have a solid amount of good, progressive, trails and my most visited park.
So… if you’re in the area and can pull it off, I’d recommend all three. They’re all within a half hour of each other, with Spider and RPR being right down the road from each other.
Park riding is dangerous. Spider mountain is fine. Enjoy the songbirds that sit at the tops of the trees on your way up the lift!
