Near HL Hempstead in arford Shire became famous due to a major incident that occurred on December the 11th 2005 a series of explosions and fires took place at the busfield oil storage and transfer Depot which was one of the largest in the UK at the time the incident considered one of the largest

Industrial disasters in Europe resulted in significant damage to the facility and surrounding areas the cause was later determined to be the Overflow of unleaded fuel from a storage tank leading to the formation of a vapor Cloud that ignited fortunately there were no fatalities but the incident prompted improvements in safety
