On day 8 of 31 for Joyride January (ride everyday of January) I ventured out the door with my friends Matt Cordova & Chase Willie to explore our hometown in pursuit of a place to build a dirt quarter pipe to ride our BMX bikes on. We’ve been scoping out a location in our hometown (Longmont, CO) from the road that we take to get to our local skatepark for years – so we left the Traction Roastery with our sites set on that spot. Although the original location ended up not being the most ideal, we decided to continue our pursuit in the location on our gravel bikes, after a little more exploration we quickly stumbled upon a ‘plan b’ location that has potential to be all time with a river a quick walk away for water to build along w/ rad mountain views for shoots. Hopefully we can pull it together for this build which is inspired by Ruben Alcantara’s legendary dirt quarter pipe in Spain for a few dope sessions.
After scouting the spot we rode down to the river along some rouge singletrack, we shared some laughs at the river & rode back to the road where we parted ways w/ Chase. From there Matt & I explored some more rouge trail along the river, finding our way to Longmont’s “bike park” then ultimately back at the Traction Coffee HQ.
Thanks for joining us for the 8th day of riding in a row – I’m having a blast with this series, & it’s been rad getting to share a bit more of what our days consist of; I hope you’re enjoying the journey too. Stoked you’re here, we have some really cool plans for 2024 from how-to content to epic adventure rides that are under the radar.
Also very sorry for the audio weird-ness in some of these clips, the wind was making the microphone act up…
All love,
-Mike

Welcome back to Joy bike I’m Mike today is day eight of joy ride January it’s cold outside like really cold I just looked at the weather app and it said it feels like 18° it snowed last night thankfully most of the snow has melted but we’re getting ready to go for a bike
Ride across town to look at an area where we’re thinking about building a BMX dirt quarter pipe hopefully we don’t get too cold along the way before we head out Matt’s going to crack into a can of snap chill get the energy flowing oh and I need it I’m hurting today
It looks like it’s warm out it’s deceiving it is very cold there’s a little bit of a breeze which is making it feel really cold you’re being modest with a little bit of a breeze pretty windy it’s pretty windy we’re going to tough through it [Applause] yeah
Sure we’ll see if we can get up right there to the Right so we’re looking at the spot we were thinking right now and I think we’re kind of getting scummed so we might have to go right around and see if we can find any anything else cuz we were thinking about building kind of in here a quarter pipe where you’d land on
That wall over there but as you can see this is probably some Wetland type area which means it’s not the best to build so kind of a bummer but we’re going to cruise along and see if we can find anything Else poor choice poor choice look at us just exploring lived here my whole life never been over here never been that’s how a lot of these rides this month have whoa let’s do it there’s a road that goes yeah I wonder if that’s that road that was whenever we rode up oh
Like behind elevator over there that was closed off oh oh you savage that was insane that was sick let me do it again you going again I want to do it again yeah all right we’re thinking we found the spot to build our dirt quarter pipe probably right here on this hill Super
Rad because we’ve got Mountain views that way we’ve got a river we got a river over there so we can get water to build and high [Applause] vibrations yeah oh where I go now yeah Chase Chase was just saying how much fun it has been riding every single day he also lives in laat and like me and Matt we’ve all lived here our entire lives and it’s been cool right like cruising around checking out spots that we’ve
Actually never checked out in this city so this is one of those spots for all three of us there’s like so many locations I’ve driven by I’m 24 I’ve lived here my whole life and I’ve driven by all of these spots so many times but I’ve never actually like gone into them
To explore totally didn’t know that this was down here super Super Rad so thanks to Mike for getting me out every day it’s dude I’m stoked you’ve been doing you’re on day eight as well so yeah of you a you I’m stoked what am I doing I think we can just go straight
And go out this is kind of a cool little stretch all right Chase has got a takeoff good ripping with you dude keep an eye out for a nose wheelie tutorial from Chase wheie himself a jump I almost got taken away by the wind we’re almost back to the shop thankfully we’re riding into a headwind and it does not make this cold weather Pleasant at all we’re back at the traction copy headquarters now that ride was a lot of fun but it was definitely chilly out
There the next couple days look like they’re going to warm up which we’re really looking forward to although it is January we’re really enjoying these warm days right now so we’ll probably get out for a mountain bike ride tomorrow stay tuned to see where we end up day eight
Was a success we got out and rode our bikes to some new places that we’ve never been to in our hometown it was a lot of fun I hope you guys enjoyed and if you did make sure you hit the like button comment down below where you rode

That's my hood. Lemme know if you need a hand with building anything. I ride that area at least once a week.
More of this!!! Get fat bikes and ride the train lines
