First Polestar driver I’ve caught, I think. Odd looking car, to me. My friend has a Hyundai Ioniq 5, and I think that’s a much nicer vehicle. It’s like a spaceship.

  1. Fairly rare car. My spreadsheets confirms I've submitted 3 Polestars, action only taken on two of them. One driving in an inconsiderate manner (pulled into a right turn filter a traffic lights and then flored it straight ahead when they turned green almost wiping out a moped turning right in the opposite direction) and one mobile (taping away on the mobile while driving down Avenue Road next to Gandolf V2 at St Edmunds Terrace!!!). In both cases it appears the Polestar driver appeared to be under the entitled impression they could do whatever they wanted and that laws were only for the plebs. Perhaps instead of points drivers of "luxury" vehicles could be offered the opportunity to stand in the middle of their local high street with a sandwich board on it saying "I'm special. Just like everyone else".

  2. I am sure hidden AI cameras placed at the right height could spot phone use. Also make it illegal to send or receive their position and move them around – these kinds of drivers are cheats. I am sure Mikey would not mind being done out of a job. Startup idea for someone, get training AI top spot phone use. A human could confirm it from a video taken and they could be issued with a fine. They could also capture driver doing it at higher speeds, which I suspect will be the same type who knowingly breaks the law at low speeds, both are a danger.

  3. Great catch, Mikey.
Bad at any time. But in icy conditions, with limited vison because of uncleared windows? That driver deserves a ban.

  4. I must admit as a cyclist and a car driver, it does annoy when bicycles weave in and out of the traffic working their way to the front of the queue. As a considerate cyclist you should always ride on the road as if you were driving a car. I’m sure car drivers would give you more respect.

  5. Why are you reading out car registration numbers? Personally I'd ban all non motorised vehicles from road especially when weave in out traffic bikes it makes it very difficult to see these

  6. Not sure if polestar had added Apple CarPlay support to their Android Auto infotainment system at that point. Driver could have pulled over and checked their messages while defrosting the windows

  7. State of the art car, with Google and Apple voice control for calls, messaging, music etc and a very good preheating system to optimise the cars performance in cold weather (as you'd expect from the Swedes) that you can activate from your phone.

This person does not appear to understand what their car can do and how to use it.

  8. I believe the polestar is a volvo in disguise…volvo did own them but the chinese company geely owns volvo now…unfortunately due to bad sales the uk will no longer receive imports of volvo estates or saloons and i suspect polestar will be the replacement….nice going mikey and safe travels.
