To come clean about his reservations towards the Rwanda scheme and publish those documents that allegedly show his apprehension more misery ahead the health secretary warns the knock on effect by the junior doctor’s strike could lasts for months amid the longest walk out in NHS history but the union
Thinks they still have a lot of public support public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know the public are feeling the pressure that and the the NHS is under as well I think they can empathize with the the issues that
Doctors have and later on in the program is it okay to call women fat while the former founder of a sportsare company claims some women are too overweight to wear leggings but would you be offended if someone called you fat no comment Aiden McGee’s got the sport this morning yes indeed in the
Premier League after all the controversy of his summer move from Saudi sorry from Liverpool to s former England Captain Jordan Henderson is reportedly ready to come back to English football we’ll have more on that later on it’s a bit of a U-turn and if it’s a big work weekend of
FA Cup action we’ll be looking back and ahead to all the key tires and Greg gurst has your weather good morning Greg hello good morning many of us waking up to Frosty scenes this morning temperatures below freezing some Icy stretches and fog too find out
If it will warm up anytime soon in the program coming up good morning to you I’m Steven Dixon and I’m Ellie Costello and this is breakfast on GB News honestly we all know Aden McGee likes a chat he does like a chat does like a chat he’s always got a story as Aiden honestly he’s trying been trying to tell us a story all the way through the headlines oh if you got something to do
I’ll tell you in a minute yeah we’ve got to do this just before you said name tell you yourself so he’ll be back we’ll let you know what he what he tells us later I’m sure it’s a good one God love him it will be a good it’ll be worth the
Wait I’m sure whether it’s relatable back over the airwaves is another story that’s very true uh we better crack on with the news hadn’t we it has been a busy 24 hours for the Prime Minister as we head into the second week of this election year yes we’re only in week two
Would you believe the Prime Minister has pledged to curb benefits and government spending to help fund tax cuts that as he’s also o claimed that every vote for Nigel farage is a vote for sakir stama ahead of this year’s election elsewhere labor have called on the prime minister
To come clean over his alleged reservations towards the Rwanda scheme when he was Chancellor well stama has cooled on number 10 to publish these papers from March 2022 that reportedly suggest he had concerns over the extortionate costs of the plans let’s talk to political commentator Peter Spencer morning to you Peter um whether
People cheer or Boo at the idea of curbing benefits at least we know how the tax cuts will be paid for indeed so and you’re quite right it’s going to be a question of there will be winners and there will be losers I it’s quite interesting though that
Starma has uh that sorry that that sunak has nailed his colors to this particular MK because um only a day or so back the chancellor was was um iing and earing and saying I’m not sure that we can really afford packed Cuts well um the prime min Minister has now taken the
Clear decision that’s the direction we’re going to go in it will Garner support from wavering Tory supporters but at the same time it will cost him uh the support of those who aren’t quite sure which way to vote and it’s potentially very awkward for Rishi suak elsewhere Peter labor
Party calling on him to come clean over his alleged reservations towards the Rwanda scheme when he was Chancellor apparently he thought it was too expensive well given that we appear to have committed something approaching half a billion pounds to this particular project and it has so far produced
Diddly squat I think this says something rather ra rather complimentary about about rak’s judgment I mean the the really sad thing about this and I and I do say this with a continence more in sorrow than in Anger like Hamlet’s dad that he clearly did look at this scheme
And say look hang on a minute you know it’s going to cost a fortune there are real questions over its viability is it a good idea and then where it becomes a sort of a metaphor for his leadership of the party he allowed himself to be overruled so instead of telling telling
All th those right-wing elements just to frankly do one and and to ditch the idea he has bet the farm on it now what is sad about this is the fact that thanks to his dilig and his confidence and his Outreach he has actually managed to cut Crossings of the channel by something
Over a third which is a result and uh he’s also managed to bang heads together in the home office to get them to get them to actually start sorting out seriously sorting out the backlog of of claims so he could have had he gone the other way been able to turn around and
Say listen guys we have made real progress here in a couple of year on a couple years time uh we we might actually be sorted instead of which in a couple of weeks time there’s very likely going to be hell up in the Commons when the Rwanda Bill comes before MPS and the
Likelihood is there will be an Almighty Blue on Blue tussle over um how how strong this piece of legislation needs to be and indeed whether it will work or not and this I think works hugely to the disadvantage of the St party when you see this this complete chaos it is
Perfectly logical for the voting public to think well this lot they’re so disorganized frankly they couldn’t organize an ay in a brothel so the other lot simply can’t be wor um I tell you what I find interesting Peter we had over the big speeches in the last week
We had Richard Ty the leader of Reform UK saying you know everyone’s facing starmageddon and then we have the Prime Minister today Philip Davis MP yesterday saying well if you vote for reform UK or Richard TI or Nigel farage who may be making a political comeback in all of
This basically you’re voting for labor it’s the only way labor can get in it might sound a bit desperate but they’ve got a point haven’t they they have certainly got a point yes because of the fact that there clearly is a a fairly wide sway of support in
The country for the the reform farage way of thinking something like about 10% or whatever but our first past the vote past the post voting system means that these guys haven’t got a cat in Hell’s chance of actually getting seats but what they will do is bleed support away
From the conservative party where is it going to go then logically to the labor party so desperation though it may be I think they must certainly have a point but what I think it also does is Herald what we’re looking at starting from from starting from now is probably the
Longest and nastiest election campaign in decades I think you could be right there Peter good to see you thank you thank you very much indeed pleasure now the longest strike in NHS history has now entered its fifth day with Junior doctors taking to the picket lines in a
Long running dispute over pay and conditions well this comes amid hospitals pleading for junior doctors to return to work due to fears for patient safety several NHS trust declared critical incidents as a result of the strike action well our Yorkshire and humble reporter Anna Riley has been to
Find out just how much support people have now for the industrial action we want restoration when do we want it now a new year and a new strike for junior doctors this time lasting 6 days in the longest industrial action in NHS history and it comes at one of the
Busiest times of the year as the NHS grapples with winter pressures the dispute over paying conditions has now entered its 10th month with Medics asking for more money to compensate for pay cuts going back to 2008 patients deserve doctors who are well paid who are well rested who are
Well resourced and the UK is not providing this at the moment 15 years of pay cuts have put our profession on its knees we graduate and we with tens of hundreds of thousands of pounds of of debt and on top of it we pay thousands of pounds on a yearly basis for exams
And courses it’s putting a strain on our colleagues who are simply leaving the profession Junior doctors were given an 88.8% pay rise last summer with an extra 3% offered which was rejected by the British Medical Association and despite almost 1 million operations and appointments being cancelled due to the
Strike action Junior doctors here at leads General infirmary feel they still have public support opinion polls throughout our strike action have actually showed that public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know the public are feeling the pressure that the NHS is
Under as well I think they can empathize with the the issues that doctors are facing keep R NHS public has supported Junior doctors on the picket line since strikes began in March last year I as a consultant in leads for nearly 30 years and uh you know I belied in providing
The best possible care for my patients and I think with the state of play with the NHS at the moment they’re simply not getting the care that they should do a Christmas poll by IPS sauce put NHS staff at the top of the nice list but here in leads there’s mixed opinion on
Support for the junior doctors I couldn’t do it because I’d be thinking about the patients and that’s what they should be doing regardless of pound Shillings and Pence does disturb me a little especially at my age if I’ve got to go into a hospital is there going to
Be help for me there you know 15 quid out it’s nothing for the job that you’re doing you’re risking your life you’re saving people’s lives you should be expecting something better people are dying which is ridiculous and these Strat is going on and on and on we
Really need to see workers respected and treated with um the dignity they deserve and especially those in sectors like healthcare it’s affecting me because I’m supposed to be going in and I’ve been delayed and I’m getting delayed again so I’m not right happy about well I do have
Sympathy for them but we’re all in the same boat the strike action will continue until 700 a.m. on Tuesday and is set to be the most disruptive in the nhs’s 75 years Anna Riley GB news leads well let’s talk to Dr Andrew valeno and who’s former medical director
And chief medical officer at berer good morning to you Andrew um look what in in terms of how this is going are we reaching a point a proper crisis Point here where more and more trusts are just hitting this critical incident phase yeah it’s a time of very high
Stress in the uh NHS it always is at this time of year of course and no doubt that’s one of the reasons the junior doctors have have chosen this time I mean I think what what they are doing is demonstrating how important they are to
The NHS but because we can see the chaos which is resulting from their from their action but I think that their leaders you know should be thinking now before they completely lose public support at the moment they have still got it um according to billion polls um now is the
Time to say okay we will negotiate I think uh I’m critical of of those leaders because a they haven’t negotiated I myself was a negotiator for the junior doctors way back in the early 80s and we actually negotiated we didn’t go to strike action and I think they’ve
Also made it a sort of campaign about the government and politics whereas you know and I’m not sure a lot of Junior doctors are happy about that you know they’re there because they are demoralized and they want better pay and better recognition they’re not there to try and get rid of a particular
Government I mean we’re now 11 months into this confrontation how do you think the junior doctors are feeling considering they actually lose pay on strike days they must be wondering at this point what they’re actually getting out of it well there’s huge support for it
Still I mean o o over over Christmas and New Year we have doctors in junior doctors in the family I was speaking to to a number of them and their friends they are hugely supportive of this they know about the ethical that they are demoralized they can see
That their their colleagues are leaving quite a number of people are leaving uh the the NHS now they’re voting with their feet and so they are generally supporting the action they feel that the NHS not just the government actually that the NHS management have not recognized the value that they bring and
Nurses bring to that they are the workhorses with the nurses of the front line of the NHS seeing patients working you know all the time six five seven days a week 24 hours a day they have to share their their rotors to do that and they feel they’re just not being
Recognized for the work that they do and the value that they bring we were talking to someone a few days ago who raised a Val a really valid point actually you know if they if they get more money what it doesn’t do is change any of the conditions and the
This guest was saying well yes more money would be nice but it’s not essential you know people’s people’s paychecks go up over time um but what you’re looking at is what but you really do need to address the hours that they’re working you need to address uh
The conditions that they have to live and work in and but if they don’t seem to be focusing on that if they if that was looked at then we would that help a solution well it is one of the things they are they are looking at and when
They have spoken to the to the government um that that’s one of the things that they’ve been talking about you know they uh they are quite restricted in in in terms of their their conditions and uh you know you hear stories of people who want to get uh
Married and they’re giving six months notice to the NHS to get the date and they’re being told no you’re going to be on shift that day you can’t take it off and you know the it’s very old-fashioned approach and I think the HR people should should give much more recognition
To the needs of those of those young doctors but um it is also about money it has fallen seriously off over over the last 10 12 years and uh you know here you have a junior doctor I was speaking to one over Christmas who’s um about 35
And she uh is you know has works with managers the managers of her age are earning 70,000 and she as a junior doctor already doing operations herself is earning 40,000 now you know what’s going on here surely the priority should be people working on the
Very front line not you know and and of course with percentage Rises the manager on 70,000 gets 7,000 on a 10% increase the junior doctor on 40,000 gets 4,000 so the disparity gets bigger and bigger over time yeah that’s a valid point isn’t it um Dr Valen good to see you
This morning thanks very much indeed and if you’ve got a view on that we’d love to hear from you GB views at GB news.com the time is 16 minutes past 6 if you’ve just joined us here’s a reminder of our top story prime minister Rishi sunak promises to slash taxes ahead of the
Election by curbing welfare and government spending as he claims a vote for farage is vote for labor in other news this morning court documents have revealed that sex trafficker gillain Maxwell was ordered to search her phone computer and emails for Prince Andrew’s name alongside words like IC Maxwell’s lawyers were instructed to
Go through all of her devices for any mention of his name details of the huge embarrassing search were revealed after a US court ordered over a 100 documents to be made public in the Jeffrey Epstein case prince Andrew has benly denied all allegations made against him the Metropolitan Police are investigating
The post office over potential fraud offenses committed during the Horizon it Scandal more than 700 branch managers were convicted of false accounting theft and fraud over a 15-year period comes after 50 new potential victims came forward following an ITV drama that aired last week previously the post
Office has said it encourages victims to come forward the defense secretary’s daughter has spoken out about feeling unsafe as a Jewish student at University uh after witnessing a number of anti-Semitic chants Tabitha shap says she was intimidated by police marching through camper sh in from the river to the Sea
And displaying placards with the message end Israeli State Terror a US Air Airline regulator has ordered the grounding of 171 Boeing passenger Jets is after a large hole opened on a plane during Alaska Airlines flight the Federal Aviation Administration have said these measures have been taken to ensure officials can perform safety checks
And I tell you what that is hugely worrying it is it’s I mean it’s basically an emergency exit that’s blown out it’s a panel literally fell off midf flight yeah yeah there’s many other planes like it thankfully we’re talking to Simon cder yesterday no planes like
That in the United Kingdom so nothing to worry about here in this country but of course they’ve had to be grounded there don’t want it to be repeated it is probably just the one off but can you imagine how terrifying that must have been there was was some boy had his
Shirt ripped off yeah because of the um thank heavens he had seat belts on thank heavens because without the seat belts on you would have just gone out with the differ in air pressure well I was saying yesterday imagine if that had happened over a body of water and you couldn’t
Emergency land I mean if it had been at land flight it would have ended very differently uh just terrible ter it’s the stuff of nightmar it is the stuff of nightmares um but anyway let’s hope to get that sorted out good grief yeah can’t imagine um now yesterday marked
The thir anniversary of the attack on the US capital building by supporters of the then outgoing president Trump yes attackers forced entry into the building in an attempt to prevent Congress from certifying the 2020 election results well that says three more fugitives wanted in connection with the Insurrection were arrested yesterday
Well we’re now joined by former advisor to the Clinton and Bush administrations Steve Gil very good morning to you Steve what are your Reflections on the 6th of January uh three years on well first of all as you all look at your longest and most nasty election in
British history you’re thinking well at least we’re not the Americans uh Joe Biden gave a speech from Valley Forge Pennsylvania the other day hearkening back to this uh January 6th Riot that is being called an Insurrection uh interestingly apparently Joe Biden isn’t aware that the uh soldiers at Valley
Forge fighting the British in 7 1976 were the insurrectionist so it it’s all kind of Twisted as we look back on three years ago uh in his speech he kept attacking uh president Trump for only looking at the past while his whole speech focused on January 6 in the past
So uh January 6 is definitely going to be used as a bludgeon to try and uh attack president Trump as we’re already seeing it done in the courts yeah which is I mean in some respects a fair point isn’t it me there are very real questions about what his position was on
This action taking place and we’ve got two states now um saying that they they will block him from running in the presidential primaries now whether that’ll hold up in the Supreme Court is another matter but it this can’t be swept under the carpet can it well then it’s interesting there are
Over 60,000 hours of videotape from that day only a small portion of them have been released uh and as we get more and more of those uh videotapes being released uh we see that the Capitol Hill Police were opening doors waving people in uh so there’s a lot of uh of facts
That still have not come back and you look at some of the people that were walking in and and some of it was was pretty crazy but other people were walking through the Velvet Rope lines probably the first Insurrection in history where people stayed within the directed corridors uh so there’s a lot
More information to come out and it’s only kind of slowly bleeding out at at this point President Biden was making the point the other day that that uh uh he and Jill attended the funerals of police officers that died that day the fact is no police officer died that day
The only one that died was an unarmed woman who was shot and killed by Capitol Police so the facts of what happened that day three years later are still not completely clear and look looking ahead to to February Steve I mean the Supreme Court
Is going to rule if Trump can run for po president uh how much do you think this is is impacting him and his popularity especially amongst his fans because it does seem to to feed into his narrative doesn’t it it’s it’s him versus The Establishment it does seem as more and
More of these indictments it only serves to to make him more popular if anything yeah it’s it’s interesting i’ I’ve joked that uh you know with with people seeing every time another indictment come every time another prosecutor goes after him his poll numbers actually go up I’m afraid that
American politicians May misread this and start knocking off convenience stores and liquor stores thinking it might help their political prospects I I think the Supreme Court is going to take pretty short shrift on this uh uh Insurrection case to to keep him off the ballot first of all the president Trump
Has not been charged with or convicted of insurrection for the events of that day nor has anybody who entered the capital they’ve been prosecuted for trespassing uh and perhaps for damage but not for Insurrection and and this 14th Amendment provision in the Constitution mentions the people who can
Be barred from the ballot but does not mention the president of the United States it’s members of Congress members of the US Senate electors of the president but not the president so they’ve got to make it clear first to win the case that it was an Insurrection nobody really thinks these people
Entering the capital were actually going to overthrow the US government in an armed Rebellion second president Trump was saying go and peacefully protest and actually did a Twitter saying go home quit doing this all of which have kind of been scrubbed and third uh is the president even included in this
Constitutional provision that could remove him I think the Supreme Court deals with it quickly uh maybe with a 90 decision and and we get past this nonsense okay Steve guil good to talk to you thanks very much indeed time for a check on your weather today let’s check in with
Greg good morning I’m Greg je Hurst and welcome to your latest GB news weather it’s a cold start this morning across the country some Frost fog and icy stretches in places but it will be largely dry plenty of Sunny spells as we go through the day we will have this
Area of cloud though bringing some showers in across Northeast England could be S and snow over the higher ground here and also some wintry showers affecting Kent through the day but they should ease as we move through into the afternoon but for many plenty of sunshine few fog patches perhaps
Lingering Southern Scotland Northern Ireland but mostly clearing and temperatures on the cold side 2 to 5 celsus for many perhaps six or seven around a few Coastal stretches and then as we move into the evening time temperatures fall away quickly we’ll see well below freezing across northern and western areas thicker clouds still
Moving in from the North Sea affecting parts of northern England perhaps stretching into Wales the Midlands and Southeast England at times one or two wintry showers possible from this icy stretches developing widely again due to the wet ground as temperatures fall close to or below freezing some fog
Patches once more to take us into Monday morning another cold start of widespread Frost and then through the day largely dry plenty of Sunny vals developing one Smiths and fog patches clear a few winry showers possible in the easterly breeze which does pick up as the day goes on
Turning quite brisk so feeling quite cold temperatures generally below average 45 Celsius but feeling nearer to freezing see you soon doe stay with us Aiden McGee will be here next with all of the latest Sport good afternoon Britain good afternoon Britain join us Tom and Emily to find out what’s happening in the heart of Westminster and why it matters to you weekdays from midday we bring you the most compelling stories from across the United Kingdom and from your doorstep to our inbox that’s right we
Want to hear from you GB news Britain’s news channel in the GB news room we bring you the news as it happens with our team of dedicated journalists across the UK we’re ready to give you accurate reporting every day when the news breaks we’ll be there with bulletins on GB news
The people’s Channel Britain’s News Channel [ __ ] of the usual Focus tested pre-prepared Westminster runaround well so am I so you want higher taxes is your department to blame for this are you rethinking this policy every Sunday at 9:30 I’ll be sitting down with those in power to get the truth about the issues
Affecting you let’s be honest we’ve known about the cost pressures of this project for years not months that’s the Camila tomin show a politics show with personality on GB news the people’s Channel Britain’s News Channel I think the most exciting bit for me is talking to people people who I
Think are ignored Often by the major news channels we’re going to give news they want to hear there’s a voice there that needs to be heard I think there’s a chance here for a diversity of opinion to be expressed which you don’t find elsewhere it’s really excited we don’t
Hold back we’re free to say how decisions that are taken here affect us all around the country only on GB news the people’s Channel Britain’s News Channel It is 6:28 good morning to you let’s see what adah McGee’s got for us this morning in the world of sport good morning both and Jordan Henderson it’s a little bit controversial well yoyo yeah you remember last summer it’s hugely controversial his move from Liverpool to the Saudi Arabian club elac which is
Owned by his uh sorry managed rather by his former team teammate Steven Gerard now he attracted so much criticism from the lgbtq plus Community because he was always a proponent of that cause he always spoke out when he was England manager he was very much in England
Captain rather he was always in favor of wearing the the rainbow armbands and then suddenly someone waves a check in front of his face and everyone says well actually was it really genuine your your concerns about about our cause and it was you know when you you only thinking
£700,000 a week I think it was worth four 33 8 million over four years I think the contract is worth and now reportedly on the back of do it what what but you know we spoke on the on the show before about the criticism he received from from the lgbtq plus
Community and whether you thought it was the the right thing I remember you saying that you actually you can see why he went because of the money yeah yeah yeah and of course so were probably a lot of the people who criticized him if they were in that position exactly
Exactly well it did raise raise questions around you know do these do these players actually feel any empathy to towards these causes or other fa and other organizations just saying look you know do us a favor come out in favor of this it’s a bit cynical I get what you
Say I get what you what I mean I think he can he can passionately believe in something but still say well and perhaps it’s the idea of you got to change things from the inside yeah that’s true that’s true anyway the back pages of the most of the papers today are saying that
He’s ready to call time already so why doesn’t like it lots of different reasons he’s struggling to cope with humidity uh it’s the the lifestyle it’s the fact that the team isn’t very good the standard is very very low they’ve um they’ve not won a game since the end of
November and so this is not a this is not a league where you a team that’s had significant investment like that should be losing losing games but it the taxfree element of the salary only comes into effect once you’ve been there for two years so he’s going to be writing
Off probably about1 million in uh in tax uh he could be there are Premier League clubs who want to want want a central midfielder Newcastle would be a good fit cuz they’re at s Saudi owned but he’s not going to get 700,000 pound a week in
The Premier League he’s going to take a break I think in the winter break he’s going to go on holiday and have a discussion with his family but it’s a real shock about turn if that comes back because I mean you wonder will Premier League clubs want to take him will they
Look at him look at him his damag Goods after what happened with the lgbtq plus Community I’m not so sure will his contract allow him to come back that quickly uh yeah it does but it just have to it’s just going to cost him a lot of
Money not only will it be relinquishing 700,000 a year but there’s a massive tax write off as well cuz you only get the tax benefits after two years into your contract and I think he signed a fouryear deal okay oh hang about for another 18 months
I know it’s worth think of the 12 million quid you’d be paying yeah um all right what’s going on in the FA Cup well MST United of the sixth tier they pulled off a shock yesterday and you know we were talking yesterday about how important is the FA Cup to various
Different clubs that up and down the pyramid a packed house yesterday at M United they played stevenage not exactly a big draw but in League one and they’re three divisions below and they pulled off the division the the win their manager George elobe is a former wolf Hampton wanderous player he wants them
In the next round round Premier League player he said they’ll be dancing on the streets of Cameroon hearing this because they follow his career back home and then of course we discussed the Northeast Derby didn’t we sundland hosting Newcastle Newcastle went there and won quite quite comfortably they did
They did but it was there were three gifts of of a goal I was at QPR we were two n up against Bournemouth lost lost 3-2 that was very disappointing and and I was quite tired you as well I was I was really GED up by that first half
Performance they let me down in the second half good job out of three course meal to see me through um wins for Villa Bournemouth Leicester and Chelsea as well and the draw is going to be on on Monday night so a lot of teams will be eagerly anticipating that and we’ve got
Liverpool V Arsenal today at 4:30 lovely brilliant stuff than very muched thank you at the time is 6:32 here’s a reminder of our top stories this morning prime minister Richie sunak promises to slash taxes ahead of the election by curbing welfare and government spending you also claims a vote for farage is a
Vote for labor and be honest with the public well labor was calling on the PM to come clean about his reservations towards the Rwanda scheme when he was Chancellor and published documents that allegedly show his apprehension more misery ahead the health secretary warns the knock on effect caused by the junior doctor’s
Strike could last for months amid the longest walk out in NHS history but the union the BMA thinks they still have a lot of public support public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know the public are feeling the pressure that and the
NHS is under as well I think they can empathize with the the issues that doctors are facing and later in the program is it okay to call women fat well the former founder of a sportsware company says some women are too fat to wear leggings would you be
Offended let us know what you think about yeah well I could say Elaine’s been in touch and says I’m slim and quite often larger ladies call me skinny is that right I don’t get get upset by I had I just put it down to ignorance it
Just work both ways I guess yeah I guess it does yeah uh let us know what you think of that one GB views atgb news.com and still to come let it snow let it snow let it snow we’ll be talking about plunging temperatures expected to freeze Britain this week that’s in

One join me at 7 on GB news Britain’s News Channel it is 6:36 let’s have a look at the main stories in the papers today and joining us to go through all of those and a few extra writer and columnist Emma wolf and the legendary broadcaster Pete price good morning to you both before we have a chitchat let’s run
Through those front pages we start with a Sunday Telegraph which leads with rushi sunak pledge to curb benefits and government spending in order to fund tax cuts Sunday times has post office Fury with the Justice secretary exploring how to properly clear hundreds of sub postmasters wrongly convicted prince Andrew I’m going
Nowhere that’s the headline on the front of the mirror uh the independent uh reports on Jeremy Hunt’s free child care plan unraveling because there’s not enough cash the Sunday Express leads with criminal gangs behind the small boat Scandal raking in nearly half a billion pounds since the channel Crisis
Began all right let’s just uh run you through those then in a bit more detail with Pete and Emma morning both um let’s talk tax cuts Emma Sunday Telegraph well you would be amazed to think that uh the prime minister’s on a sort of election footing obviously both parties are and
Sunak has given a um an interview to the Sunday Telegraph talking about how he’ll manage um to give us wonderful wonderful things at the next election and how we should all vote for him and guess what that means tax cuts and this is what you know obviously the many many Tory MPS
Are desperate for many Tory voters are Keen to hear from him um so this latest sort of um intervention is that he’s going to really crack down curbing benefits and controlling government spending there’s a sense obviously amongst many conservatives that that’s got out of control um we’ve just had the
National Insurance cut that’s come in a few days ago and um I think yesterday actually yesterday yesterday funny day for it to come in but anyway um and then Rich talking about the nobility of work in this interview he’s talking about you know rewarding people that are working
Hard and that he really wants to be able to or that he will he’s actually committed he’s saying he will be cutting taxes by the um May 6 spring budget right what’ you Reon Pete interesting um and good morning good morning everyone good morning no I think uh to reward people
Who are working is very important to get people back to work there’s an awful lot of people not working and we have to get them back to work it’s an awful lot of going on and it’s a great benefit system that’s why so many people are coming to
Our wonderful country um and I think Richie is uh clutching at straws there’s got to be an election and there will be another government but there’s going to be problems with that because it’s not going to happen overnight no I mean the issue is I mean because this has been
Going on for a long time it was Ian Duncan Smith when he was working pensions wasn’t it saying that that’s why Universal Credit Credit that’s it was was brought in because he said youve got to make work pay it’ll make work pay and the problem now is that we have more
Than ever we have people sitting in the benefit system on Universal Credit and things like that since the pandemic so those numbers are spiraling out of control but as Pete says there are lots of people you know not in work so I think it’s going to be very very tricky
How you kind of without punishing them how you move people from a benefit system that you know really is quite massive now really quite huge cost and people don’t want to work after the um pandemic um we had the best weather they had 80% of their wages paid some of them
Uh I was one of the 2.8 million that didn’t get anything but when they had uh the ferow it was fantastic and it did an awful lot of damage to this country yeah but another another big problem is Young is young people there’s there’s a sort
Of record number of 18 to 24 year olds Who start who never start work whether it’s mental health problems or you know many other issues they simply don’t begin their working life employed and so if you start off like that 18 19 with no sense of motivation or even a career
Path or you never get into it the habit of going to getting up you know going to work every day putting on your your shirt and tie that kind of thing that we all did at the age you know whenever when we left school University problematic and the reason being they’re
In the rooms on the computers and on the games and they’re not learning any skills to talk to people to go for job interviews nothing we are in a mess but not just our country an awful lot of countries like us yeah I know it’s do you know there will be some people
Watching saying it’s all right for you a lot more about this it’s the old the older people uh particular moan about what the youth are like and all the rest of it but I know a lot of employers now who say when they get the young people
They don’t know how to do an interview they don’t know how to dress for work they don’t know how to have a conversation pick up the phone yeah I’ve got two stories from my radio show one uh a girl came in for a fashion job and
She came in in her pajamas for the job interview cuz she said this is fashion and the boss of the shop was and then another guy a guy came on my show to offer a job a very well-paid job and he he got the people the jobs filled and
Then he said can I tell you a story and a guy rang up and he said I’m looking for that job that’s perfect for me I get up about 10: I live in speak do you want to drive up and see me and we’ll do the interview on My Life we’ll do the
Interview have a cup of tea with me and he went I’ll try and make it yeah you see this is the world we’re living in but also Stephen I don’t think it’s fair what you said because I think that I well no you were saying you know people
Might be thinking oh well it’s easy easier for them I I worked my way I’ve worked minimum wage jobs I mean I think that a lot of professions now are really really badly paid so you know there will be young people thinking well I’m not
Going to do that for £12 an hour I’m not going to do that when I can get benefits for free or whatever or I can claim I’ve got anxiety and depression because there are more and more conditions now where you can be signed off you can just be on
Benefits but I think I mean you know I I I I’m sure Pete has I’ve worked my way up I’ve I’ve done all sorts of things I’ve cleaned home hotel rooms and things like that I’ve done waitressing I’ve done those jobs as well and then you you
Kind of you know so so I don’t think you know I don’t think we should assume that just because we’re saying I mean is good for you I think that’s that’s what people level at you though they I mean I worked in a shoe factory yeah well you
Worked in the shoe factory I had two jobs when I was at school I had a milk round and I did delivery as well as school a paline at University had two jobs to help get through University because of the cost to help his mom and
Dad it’s a value and I’m not I don’t care what people say about say I mean you’re still the oldest paper boy in Liverpool there’s a million gags there million okay let’s move on to prince Andrew should we uh he ain’t going nowhere according to the Sunday Mirror
Yes um bless him I’ve got my glasses I’ve got my glasses to read but I’ve had my cataracts done so I can see everything but I need reading so here we are he prince Andrew ref ref uses to quit his plush Royal pad despite new claims about his links with Jeffrey uh
Um Epstein yeah thanon Epstein um and he just won’t give it up and there’s all sorts of stories about him yet again and the 30 bedroom house uh a source next to his wife next to whoever the source is he’s always a source but he won’t give
His house of what he doesn’t understand is he’s not popular people don’t like him his arrogance the other day why are people filming me that went out the video he’s not like why should we keep him why should we keep him a 30 bedroom why do you need 30 rooms in your house
What is going on nobody wants him and we’ve got to cut down we’re cutting down in every Walk of Life so why can’t we cut down with the Royals well the pressure will being on King Charles now w’t yeah he’s becoming I mean with the latest Revelations and more to come
Prince Andrew is becoming a real thorn in the side for for King Charles he he’s had you know he’s dealt with the Harry and Megan problem and he’s got the prince Andrew problem which is now bubbling up again I think there’s going to be increasingly views um like like
Pete saying hang on a minute he’s still living at the taxpayers expense okay he was stripped of various um honorary titles and things like that but in terms of him staying is it at the world Lodge I think it’s the world Lodge 30 rooms where he lives with Sarah Ferguson at
The taxpayers behest I you know I don’t know I don’t know whether King Charles can freeze him out anymore he seems to have taken him back as part of the family he was part of the sandham celebrations he has as you say limited contact with the public and he doesn’t
Seem to do that very well um but I mean it’s it’s a really damaging part well it’s a really damaging brother for the king to have pointing out that of course he denies all the allegations made and also paid a woman millions of pounds in
Hush money do you know that we um he was so popular years ago he was such a popular royalty Playboy Prince wasn’t he how things have changed the the people loved him but there’s always stories about him being a bit of a hard person to be with his arrogance he sort of
Always was there and the court of the court of public opinion is that isn’t it they talk about arrogance and also people will not forget that news night interview that was done I mean very crash I watch it when I’m fed up because it reminds me of how good I am
As an interviewer and I’d have done well on that one oh there Emma we’ve got a big freeze coming our way oh it was colder this morning much colder the last few days the temperatur really dropped so following the flooding and we had horrendous flooding all over the country we had
Storm Hank few days ago I nearly got blown off London Bridge on my bike it was absolutely terrifying um following that we now got I know I know it shouldn’t been on a bike shouldn’t have been out we’ve now got cold uh weather uh cold weather health warning actually for this week
From the government so it’s serious this isn’t just us saying you know it’s cold uh we’re going to have temperatures down to minus 10 beast from the East is on its way I heard I mean yesterday they were also about possibly minus 14 in some places yeah I mean exactly once you
Get up to Scotland you are talking about that kind of temperature um and after the flooding you’ve got a lot of water sitting there so then you get this problem of frost and ice and freezing fog and a bitter East Wind so I’m yeah very depressed about all this but isn’t
It amazing I I now know how muray Poppins feels cuz I had an umbrella and I took up took off off a bridge nearly it was horrendous I was just oh M Broly’s gone that was in a terrible State because the weather’s bad but isn’t it amazing how the weather
Controls every newspaper all the news stories now in my day it was just back to my day it was just it’s a cold day but we can’t go can we I mean travel think of the impact on travel this week if we get down to- 10- 14 yeah but that never Happ
Riv you know yeah that never happened years ago leaves on the on the on the tracks yeah is not going because there are leaves on the tracks I know it’s just stuffing yes anyway look it’s 64 647 let’s just remind you of the top stories this morning prime minister Rishi sunak
Promises to slash taxes ahead of the election by curbing welfare and government spending as he claims a vote for farage is a vote for Labor uh labor is calling on the prime minister to come clean about his reservations towards the Rwanda scheme when he was Chancellor and published documents that allegedly show his
Apprehension the health secretary warns the KnockOn effect caused by the junior doctor’s strike could last for months amid the longest walkout in NHS history but the union the BMA thinks they still have a lot of public support public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know
The public are feeling the pressure that the NHS is under as well I think they can EMP with the the issues that doctors are facing later in the program is it okay to call anybody fat well the former founder of a sportsware company says some women are too overweight too fat
Basically to wear leggings would you be Offended what do you think of that one I just want to get both of your opinions on that this is the the former founder of Lulu Lululemon which Lulu leggings Lululemon which specializes in leggings they they’re good but they’re very expensive they’re about1 a pair Lulu Lemon the one who decorated Boris and
Carris Johnson Carrie Johnson’s no that was Lulu Guinness Guinness but oh I’m getting my Lulu’s confused don’t get your Lulu’s confused but what what do you make of these comments this is a former founder of Lulu Lemon saying that some women are too fat to wear the Lululemon well they’re crazy for
Starters cuz many many women of all shapes and sizes is wear a AIA AIA wear all day long they’re not even going to the gym they literally live in their in their expensive leggings cuz they’re comfy and they look good and they pull
You in da da da da da as someone who has spent years and years and years being called Skinny which is also a term of abuse but it’s a weird term of abuse that’s meant to be a compliment I am sick of constant constant comments about other people’s bodies don’t need to call
Women overweight you don’t need to call them underweight just leave them alone Pete I’ve got to be careful on this one all I will say is there’s some sight out there you go and you go oh my word what’s that just walked past me now I’ve
Not said anything about fat thin so you can’t have a go at me but I saw a sight the other day and I went oh I’m sorry and it took up two seats next to me oh on a more serious note I was serious serious that was serious I really on a
More serious note I do think we need to be able to talk about weight uh in a health context I do think that doctors need to get back to being able to say to patients you are overweight this is a health you know this this is a health
Risk because the country is becoming more and more overweight and obese two-thirds of UK adults are overweight and can we say fat is the word fat and that and that’s up to you that’s up to doctors it we somehow have made the word fat a term of abuse so I think that
People need to be able to discuss it because it is the Obesity is the number one Health crisis but it so easily slips into abusive you can’t say that about me blah blah blah blah blah interesting you say that once again I’m from a generation in my school the was no
Obesity we didn’t even know what the word was and we went to America first time we went to America and we went this is going to come to England I have never seen anything like it the first time I saw ABC but there was nobody there was
One fat lad in our school they called him fatty and he wasn’t fat know he wasn’t fat but so it’s it’s it’s and it’s a a scary thing and now at my at my child’s nursery you see very overweight children and it’s a terrible terrible Health Legacy for a child
Young child to start off overweight uh that that’s a life you know it’s a life sentence because you can’t put a three-year-old on a diet you know it’s just a it’s just a it’s a lifestyle thing isn’t it it’s about being more and more active we would all
Play out after school we would all play Outdoors we would never sat in doors on our phones yeah and also just the you know the the quantity the sheer quantity of junk and processed food I think is problematic see ell you started this I
Know I did I got you I got you going on that one didn’t I yeah let us know what you think about gbvs at GB news.com I’ll tell you what tend to be fat pugs they’ve got rolls haven’t they they got rolls this one’s wonderful so this
Uh New York based pug is the most travel dog one of the most travel dogs in the world it’s got 100,000 followers on Instagram and 77,000 who want to follow a dog on Instagram well there’s a goat oh oh There the dog right so if you’re listening on the radio he’s got little
Antlers on and a and Blue Fairy he must walk miles you know airports that’s miles from each thing from the luggage to the this to the that that little guy on his tiny legs he’s not doing it on his own Emma he’s not an owner 200 no
Know but he’s he is on his own he checks in and everything miles around the airport is what I’m saying 250 flights he’s had so far uh fits into a cabin bag he’s been to Paris Lisbon Canada he’s everywhere and he’s a seven-year-old po called Kuma and he’s now a um star on
The internet but there’s a goat well he’s a Tik Tok influencer but yeah but this goat is a Tik Tok influencer keeps eating food off other goats and this woman who swears her head off say leave it Gary leave it leave it Gary Gary leave it so these animals are
Being influenced but look at Tik Tok I mean you want to see some of the garbage on there that people follow absolutely and these people who talk in your face uh you’re on double yellow lines you don’t you don’t know what you’re talking don’t stop me on all oh it drives me mad
It drives me mad so little pug and he’s in the back some friends of mine took cuz you couldn’t take uh dogs at uh abroad without whatever and they had a little tiny poodle and they got a few Bob she’s dead now sadly and she put it
In the pocket of her Fair coat and the dog the dog it was so small and the um the steward Des came down so you want to drink and and went do you want to drink what was that noise she went I Gonic and she got away with it she got
The dog off in Spain save pay smuggled the dog she smuggled the dog in a fair oh you mixed with a bad crowd price yes you’ve got another story here about dogs let’s stick with dogs for a second uh this dog very naughty one eaten
$4,000 in Bank notes she saw this on Tik Tok they took the they took the B they took the bank notes out to pay for renovations in the backyard yeah yeah solic yeah yeah well all right but you got 40,000 in the house um settle the
Dog at the lot but then I can’t tell you the rest of the story because how they got it back and what they did did they get it back did they sort of shredded just say it involved some gloves you can’t it’s too early in the morning no
But but you could actually do that could take it back to the bank and say these are damaged notes and yeah look see the picture and it at least well they’ve washed it but they had to wash it cuz it it’s a terrible story to screw things
Didn’t they with a with a set of gloves I was reading they um it they got all of it back apart from $450 which uh couldn’t be couldn’t be salv but it’s a story and but everything else they’ve managed to get back actually that’s impressive but it was
Great effort from the owners it’s $40,000 I’d have done it oh yeah i’ oh I’d have done itely for me backyard I love the way they call it back it for $50 yeah me too i’ done it for a quid if you’ve got a dog though you’re used
To it aren’t you this is what they you do it’s oh yeah well once again Tik Tok and things like that see these dogs who’s done this to this parcel the dog goes yeah they cause Havoc they do oh dear right lovely we’re going to leave
It there Pete Emma thank you very much indeed we shall see you a little bit later on we’ve got lots heading your way very shortly including this tax cut issue PM seems to be promising more tax cuts on the way in the March 6 budget
But how’s he going to pay for it yeah we’ll let you know in the next hour we’ve also been talking about a cold snap Greg je has has all the details on that a brighter Outlook with box solar sponsors of weather on GB news good morning I’m Greg jewhurst and

Temperatures on the cold side 2 to 5 Celsius for many perhaps six or seven around a few Coastal stretch stres and then as we move into the evening time temperatures fall away quickly we’ll see well below freezing across northern and western areas thicker clouds still moving in from the North Sea affecting
Parts of northern England perhaps stretching into Wales the Midlands and Southeast England at times one or two wintry showers possible from this icy stretches developing widely again due to the wet ground as temperatures fall close to or below freezing some fog patches once more to take us into Monday
Morning another cold start a widespread Frost and then through the day largely dry plenty of Sunny THS developing one SMI and fog patches clear a few wintry showers possible in the easterly breeze which does pick up as the day goes on turning quite brisk so feeling quite cold temperatures generally below

National Insurance today the prime minister is trailing tax cuts in the spring hoping that that will help to bring voters back the conservatives way also War warning about the Reform Party saying if you vote for reform that’s going to just help labor get into Power well labor is calling on the prime
Minister to come clean about his reservations towards the Rwanda scheme and publish documents that allegedly show his apprehen ption the health secretary is warning the knock on effect caused by the junior doctor’s strike could last for months amid the longest walkout in NHS history but the union thinks they still have a
Lot of support public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know the public are feeling the pressure that the NHS is under as well and I think they can empathize with the the issues that doctors are facing the question for you is it okay
It’s to call women fat while the former founder of a sports wear Company claims some women are too fat to wear leggings would you be offended we got the sport for you this morning with Aiden yes indeed it’s a big weekend of FA Cup third round action we’ll be looking ahead to Liverpool’s

Good morning many of us waking up to Frosty scenes this morning temperatures below freezing some Icy stretches and fog too find out if it will warm up anytime soon in the program coming up good morning to you I’m Steven Dixon and I’m Ellie Costello and this is breakfast on GB News um on the doctor’s strike you’ve been in touch already this morning U Margaret says strikes are a serious action to take why are they looking so happy on the picket line well well they’re just keeping the spirits up I imagine they’re stood out there in the
Cold yeah I’ve I’ve been to a lot of of picket lines during these doctor strikes in the past 11 months or so and it is a carnival atmosphere it really is they’ve got they’ve got musical instruments they’re singing they’re chanting they’re stomping their feet that kind of thing
But they do say it’s all about morale yeah I can keeping they could be there all day it’s a long time they say it’s all about keeping up the morale I can I can see that I don’t know what you’re saying Margaret but there you go uh yeah
Rob says pay yeah go on you have about two pennies worth Rob says pay the doctors what they demand but take it back then by reducing their goldplated pensions oh you see I don’t know what the pensions are like for doctors the final salary and all that sort of
Thing well look there’s got to be a bit of give and take in it all um Susan says I’m the wife of a retired senior Hospital doctor and we are both disgusted at the action Junior doctors are taking at the moment and feel they’re bringing the profession into disrepute really interesting isn’t that’s
Interesting uh Sue in cheser says the NHS needs an independent company to do a job evaluation on it which would show the importance of each position in the organization it would also indicate which jobs are Superfluous to to requirements that’s very similar to the guest that we had on earlier on didn’t
We who was saying a junior doctor that he knows within his family is on £40,000 and she’s doing operations by herself um but her manager is on 70,000 yeah so he says managerial role in a managerial role yeah I can understand why that’s an issue mind you when he said that I did
Think well £440,000 is quite a lot of money yeah for 35y old yeah however however it depends what hours they’re working you know if she’s doing you know sort of 20 hour shifts 4 days a week whatever maybe but still 40,000 well that’s it’s more than most people may
Yeah it’s true true but you know the swings and roundabouts with a lot of it but keep your thoughts coming through on that GB views at GB news.com now it’s been a busy 24 hours for rushi sunak as we head into the second week of this election year yeah
The Prime Minister has pled to curb benefits and government spending to help help fund tax cuts he’s also claimed that every vote for Nigel farage which is interesting that he’s talking about farage because he what he means is reform UK of which Nel farage is honorary president the leader is
Actually Richard TI uh he says every vote any every vote for farage is a vote for Kia stama ahead of this year’s election well elsewhere labor have called on suac to come clean over his alleged reservations towards Rwanda scheme whilst he was Chancellor yeah uh Mr starmer has called on number 10 to
Publish the papers that allegedly refer to this from March 2022 they reportedly suggest he had concerns over the cost of the plans and also saying they wouldn’t be a deterrent which is the whole point of it yes of course well joining us now is GB news’s political correspondent
Katherine Forster lots to get into here Katherine we’re only in week two of his election year would you believe and but we’ve got Richi suak his interview in the Sunday graph saying that he wants to prioritize tax CS of course we saw one yesterday but now we know how they’re
Going to be funded well yes apparently the government already identified 4 billion pounds of savings and in the huge welfare Bill back in September it sounds like they may go even further it’s no surpris is it we’re in an election year and lo and behold the government is going to cut taxes people
Have been calling Tory backbenchers Tory voters been calling for this for a long time and of course who doesn’t like tax cuts clearly it is aimed at winning votes yesterday the TWP cut in National Insurance today the the Prime Minister giving this interview in the telegraph
Saying uh I’m going to be crystal clear my priority is cutting taxes they say they’re going to cut the welfare Bill further um they want to prioritize cutting taxes for people in work so it’s looking quite possible that come um the March the 6th budget Jer hunt the
Chancellor may cut income tax we’ve heard a lot about potential cuts to inheritance tax um let’s see what happens with that but a very clear message to voters we are going to cut your taxes stick with us worth saying of course tax is currently at the highest
Level for 70 years how much wiggle room has he actually got though because me you say the you know the the eyeing 4 billion in cuts of the welfare budget the two p off National Insurance is costing 9 billion so where where’s the money going to come from an excellent
Question and we do have a national debt of 2.6 trillion pounds so there really isn’t much money but basically this is about trying to if not get reelected at least minimize the damage and how do you make yourself popular with a lot of people cut their taxes you know it’s
Fairly obvious and also what it’s going to do is put labor in a really tricky position because labor have been slating the government saying look how much people are paying in tax we want to cut taxes for working people the conservatives probably going to come along and do that before the election
And then labor is likely to to keep those tax cuts they won’t get the credit for them of course but it’s going to massively reduce their sort of choices if and when they get into government and what they are able to do because there’ll be that much less m spelling
Around Richie suak has also issued a warning to voters hasn’t he warning them not to split the Tory vote Yes um the Reform Party currently about 9 or 10% in the polls they have been going up recently um the conservatives are very worried about them despite sometimes saying or they’re irrelevant sure
They’re not going to win many or possibly any seats but they’re going to stand everywhere they are appealing to they’re on the right of obviously they’re going to appeal to disaffected conservative voters who feel that the conservatives are not right-wing enough not sufficiently conservative and the Prime Minister warning that what that’s
Going to do is likely not take La labor votes as much as take conservative votes and ultimately just increase any labor majority that’s the conservatives message of course Richard Ty and Nigel farage would give a rather different message yes but actually although we we often don’t believe what politicians say
Because they’re doing it for their own purposes right which is fair enough however with looking at this absolutely as as level as I can he’s right isn’t he he is right that actually a vote for a party that is unlikely to get any seats in the first
Pass the post system just means that it’s it’s effectively opening the door for labor sure and in the last several byelections reform were very happy because the votes that they got were basically the difference between the conservatives winning and labor or the libdems winning so yes they could
Cost the conservatives um quite a lot of seats which is ultimately going to help labor of course Richard TI would say we’re trying to save Britain we need to send a message they really want to do as much damage to the conservative party as they possibly can now in the last election
They stood down um the brexit party as it was then stood down didn’t stand in a lot of seats to help Boris Johnson get that 80 seat majority uh but now it sounds like they’re not in the mood to do the government any favors but why
Then did Richard tyon in his speech last week to warn people against starmageddon because the argument is and it’s it’s a hard one to argue against is it actually voting for his party would increase starmageddon as he put it well exactly exactly however Richard Ty is saying we
Are the party of the working people they also want to appeal not just to disaffected conservative voters but to those red wool voters that maybe voted for brexit maybe not happy with how it went um of course you know Richard Ty is a very wealthy privately educated figure
I’m not sure that he has the same appeal to the working classes Boris Johnson also privately educated wealthy but Boris Johnson had a way of of engaging with ordinary people that was quite incredible and Nigel farage has that as well a bit doesn’t he but um I suspect
That um votes for reform will hurt the uh the conservative party much more than the labor party but let’s see let’s see what happens this year if Richard if you’re watching this morning because he might well be um give us a call get you on love to talk you about that yeah
Thank you very much indeed I just think it is fascinating I think it’s absolutely fascinating that the prime minister’s right is it and um Philip Davis who was on the channel yesterday was right isn’t he when they say you know it does open the door for a labor government which
Richard Ty says he doesn’t want well clearly as well the first how do you balance it out the first interview from the prime minister of the new year and he’s talking about Nigel farage and the Reform Party it’s clearly at the Forefront of his mind has it spooked the
Conservative party yeah does it spook you because it’s about and loads of you get in touch and say oh we’re fed up with the conservatives we’re going to vote reform well does this make you think again are you going to end up voting not particularly for who you want to get in
But for who you don’t want to get it Y which is an interesting mindset um I don’t know I I don’t know it’s an interesting one so let’s try and get Richard tys on if we can that’ be quite good I’m sure I’m sure he’ll be
I’m sure he’s and I’m sure he’s watch unless he’s already booked for Camila’s show which you might be which also probably quite likely and but do c viws coming in GB viws atgb news.com now the longest strike in NHS history is entering its fifth day with Junior
Doctors taking to the picket lines in that long running dispute over paying conditions while this comes amid hospitals pleading for junior doctors to return to work due to fears for patient safety several NHS trusts have declared critical incidents as a result of the strike action well our Yorkshire and
Humble reporter Anna Riley has been to find out just how much support people still have for the strike we want P restoration when do we want it now a new year and a new strike for junior doctors this time lasting 6 days in the longest industrial action in NHS history and it
Comes at one of the busiest times of the year as the NHS grapples with winter pressures the dispute over paying conditions has now entered its 10th month with Medics asking for more money to compensate for pay cuts going back to 2008 patients deserve doctors who are
Well paid who are well rested who are well resourced and the UK is not providing this at the moment 15 years of pay cuts have put our profession on its knees we graduate and we with tens of hundreds of thousands of pounds of of debt and on top of it we pay thousands
Of pounds on a yearly basis for exams and courses it’s a trainer on our colleagues who were simply leaving the profession Junior doctors were given an 88.8% pay rise last summer with an extra 3% offered which was rejected by the British Medical Association and despite almost 1 million operations and
Appointments being cancelled due to the strike action Junior doctors here at leads General infirmary feel they still have public support opinion polls throughout our strike action have actually showed that public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know the public are feeling the pressure that the NHS is
Under as well and I think they can empathize with the the issues that doctors are facing keep our NHS public has supported Junior doctors on the picket line since strikes began in March last year I was a consultant in leads for nearly 30 years and uh you know I
Believed in providing the best possible care for my patients and I think with the state of play with the NHS at the moment they’re simply not getting the care that they should do a Christmas poll by ipour put NHS staff at the top of the nice list but here in leads there’s mixed
Opinion on support for the junior doctors I couldn’t do it because I’d be thinking about the patients and that’s what they should be doing regardless of pound Shillings and Pence does disturb me a little especially at my age if I’m I’ve got to go into a hospital is there
Going to be help for me there you in 15 quid and out it’s nothing for the job that you’re doing you’re risking your life you’re saving people’s lives you should be expecting something better people are dying which is ridiculous and these Strat is going on and on and on we
Really need to see workers respected and treated with um the dignity they deserve and especially those in sectors like healthcare it’s affecting me because I’m supposed to be going in and I’ve been delayed and I’m getting delayed again so I’m not right happy about well I do have
Sympathy for him but we’re all in the same boat the strike action will continue until 700 a.m. on Tuesday and is set to be the most disruptive in the nhs’s 75 years Anna Riley GB news leads well earlier we spoke to we spoke to Dr Andrew Valance Owen former medical director of
Berer it’s a time of very high stress in the uh NHS it always is at this time of year of course and no doubt that’s one of the reasons the junior doctors have have chosen this time I mean I think what what they are doing is demonstrating how important they are to
The NHS but because we can see the chaos which is resulting from their from their action but I think that their leaders you know should be thinking now before they completely lose public support at the moment they have still got it um according to billion polls um now is the
Time to say okay we will negotiate I think uh I’m critical of those leaders because a they haven’t negotiated I myself was a negotiator for junior doctors way back in the early 80s and we actually negotiated we didn’t go to strike action and I think they’ve
Also made it a sort of campaign about the government and politics whereas you know and I’m not sure a lot of Junior doctors are happy about that you know they’re there because they are demoralized and they want better pay and better recognition they’re not there to try and get rid of a particular
Government I mean we’re now 11 months into this confrontation how do you think the junior doctors are feeling considering they actually lose pay on strike days they must be wondering at this point what they’re actually getting out of it well there’s huge support for it
Still I mean o o over over Christmas and New Year we have doctors in junior doctors in the family I was speaking to to a number of them and their friends they are hugely supportive of this they know about the ethical issue but they are demoralized they can see that their
Their colleagues are leaving quite a number of people are leaving uh the the NHS now they’re voting with their feet and so they are generally supporting the action they feel that the NHS not just the government actually that the NHS management have not recognized the value that they
Bring and nurses bring to that they are the workhorses with the nurses of the front line of the NHS seeing seeing patients working you know all the time six five s days a week 24 hours a day they have to share their their rotors to do that and they feel they’re just not
Being recognized for the work that they do and the value that they bring okay the time is 90 minutes past 7 let’s have a look at some other stories coming into The Newsroom court documents have revealed sex trafficker gillain Maxwell was ordered to search her phone computer and emails for Prince Andrew’s
Name alongside words like erotic details of the search were revealed after a US court ordered more than a 100 documents 100 more documents we should say to be made public from the Jeffrey Epstein case prince Andrew vehemently denies all the allegations against him the Metropolitan Police are investigating

Secretary’s daughter has said she feels unsafe as a Jewish student at University Tabitha shap says she was intimidated by pe people marching through the campus displaying placards with with um messages to end Israeli State Terror follows an increasing number of reports of anti-jewish hate at universities a US Airline regulator has
Ordered the grounding of 171 Boeing passenger Jets after a large hole appeared on a plane during Alaska Airlines flight in a statement the airline said it expected to cause up to 60 flights to be cancelled I’ve just been reading about this um Alaskan Airlines plane and apparently the section that blew out mid-flight was the size of a fridge yeah well a big fridge freezer but but it’s it’s an emergency exit door isn’t it yeah it’s that whole panel just out out that’s what they’re worried about now that’s
Why they’ve grounded those 171 planes because they’re all built the same way they’re worried it’s going to happen again and apparently a man who was sitting there with his phone just texting phone out the window yeah maybe you shouldn’t have been texting but you would on the flight wouldn’t you be
Texting well you don’t you don’t texting a flight as a fantastic point there you go yeah but it is the stuff of nightmares isn’t it oh it’s horrific I mean it’s absolutely horrific it makes you think this CU I I normally try and go to sleep when they’re doing the old
Demonstrations and pull the mask and do all that Blum that you need to know it if that that happened and doesn’t it make you really realize the importance of the the crew on board not only in this situation in the US but in Japan as well that plane that crashed on the
Runway this week and the quick thinking and the quick actions of the crew there saved saved everybody on that flight well if if you’re um what’ you call them now um cabin crew cabin crew is the phrase I was looking for it used to be all
Stuides um but it’s um you know doe respect you because a lot of people just think that you serve tea coffee and perfume Gonic and G in your case in my case space Jin but it’s not I mean that that’s just sort of filling the time isn’t it well they’re actually there for
Our safety and well-being that is their actual job yeah and it’s important to remember that isn’t it and I think we’ve seen two instan of that this week uh when their hard work and quick action really has prevented anything very serious happening so the UK’s civil aviation Authority has said they are
Monitoring the situation very closely but Simon CER who’s a travel expert was speaking to him yesterday he said said we don’t have those sorts of planes here in the UK so it doesn’t look as though we would be affected don’t worry too much about it Happ here in the UK no um
Look if you’re watching us and you’re in bed this morning if you still Tu the dup with a coffee don’t move yeah don’t just do not move because it is cold out there and this week it’s going to get colder Greg’s got your details good morning I’m Greg jeur and
Welcome to your latest GB news weather it’s cold start this morning morning across the country some Frost fog and icy stretches in places but it will be largely dry plenty of Sunny spells as we go through the day we will have this area of cloud though bringing some showers in across Northeast England
Could be sleet and snow over the higher ground here and also some winry showers affecting Kent through the day but they should ease as we move through into the afternoon but for many plenty of sunshine few fog patches perhaps lingering Southern Scotland Northern Ireland but mostly clearing and
Temperatures on the cold side 2 to 5 Celsius for many perhaps six or seven around a few Coastal stretches and then as we move into the evening time temperatures fall away quickly we’ll see well below freezing across northern and western areas thicker clouds still moving in from the North Sea affecting
Parts of northern England perhaps stretching into Wales the Midlands and Southeast England at times one or two wintry showers possible from this icy stretches developing widely again due to the wet ground as temperatures fall close to or below freezing some fog patches once more to take us into Monday
Morning another cold start of widespread Frost and then through the day largely dry plenty of Sunny THS developing once Miss and fog patches clear a few wintry showers possible in the easterly breeze which does pick up as the day goes on turning quite brisk so feeling quite cold temperatures generally below
Average 45 Celsius but feeling nearer to freezing see you soon now question for you is it okay to call women fat or anyone fat actually well anyone fat yes we’ll be debating that next so don’t go Anywhere join us every night on GB news at 11:00 p.m. for Headliners which is three top comedians going through the next day’s news stories which is exactly what you need because when the establishment has gone crazy you need some craziness to make sense of it Headliners you don’t have to bother

Today at Arsenal at 4:30 there’s been a bit of a moan up by their manager Jurgen klopp yesterday I know would have been Friday actually on the at the press conference there’s going to be extended World Cup cup or plans to build it into the fixture list and that’s going to
Create even more matches we’ve seen the the European Super League discussion were two packs last year well they are they always complain their two packs foreign managers especially moan about the the fixture schedule they’re saying it’s taking too much of a toll on their players there aren’t enough people
Who’ve played football at the highest level making these decisions and it’s going to cause burnout so look there’s there’s two sides of this argument you’ll probably say to me well a minute they get paid a fortunes it’s the result of these fixtures and and the extra competitions that create the funds for
The clubs it creates their revenue and it invol it it results in top managers being paid 8 to 10 million pound a year players being paid even more we discussed Jordan Henderson last hour didn’t we and how how he gets paid as a result of the schedule that’s been built
In over in Saudi however anybody plays the game anybody’s involved in sports science will say that the more matches is played by players it results generally in in a deterioration in their health and when I say health I’m talking about fixture I’m talking about sorry um soft tissue injuries I’m talking about
You know just the wear and tear on their bodies and they have to be managed and so it’s difficult because around Christmas especially you have to look at the situation with as regards the number of games and you have to say well actually it’s part of the endurance test
People expect to watch football around Christmas time I’ll tell you something interesting as well with the V build built into the system this this season over the last well over the last four years or whatever we’re seeing long delays in matches we’re seeing like five or six minutes before they make a
Decision or while the v makes a decision the players standing around and not warming up and not keeping warm during that period because I kind of not expect that when to expect it that’s actually causing an increase in the number of injuries which is incredible if you
Think about it it hasn’t been hasn’t been thought about the fans moan about standing around for 5 six minutes while a decision is being made and being thoroughly bored um but the players are standing around and it’s not you know when they when they’re going at sort of
Break neck speed throughout matches and then suddenly they have to stop five six minutes it does cause injuries yeah that is some would say just moaning yeah yeah um should we look at the FA Cup yes good day yesterday M United of the six tier winning their match against stevenage a
Big crowd there as well no one can say it doesn’t it doesn’t matter to these clubs Steven it’s the big clubs usually moaning about the extra fixtures because the big and the big clubs don’t care about the prize money do they were the little clubs will look there is still
Prestige of winning the FA Cup sometimes if you’re under pressure like you are man at Newcastle United with Eddie how they’d love to win a trophy they’ve not won a trophy since I think it’s 19 certainly 1960s I think when they won really yeah they one not one not one
Actually major any major silver since they won the first cup I think that was sometime in the late 60s actually I I’ll um I’ll I’ll look that up I should know it really but um but yeah lots of these clubs would would relinquish or would would happily sacrifice the extra
Fixtures of these FA Cup FA Cup matches but the supporters would like to see them um would like to see them going and win so it’s a delicate Balancing Act but yeah as I say arsenal be Liverpool today at 4:30 Arsenal probably need a trophy
As well I would I would suggest but um yeah Spurs could do with one as well couldn’t they day one on Friday yeah we’ve got the fixtures today so as you can see uh for the benefit of our radio listeners we’ve got Arsenal in action at 430 against Liverpool Man City and
Action against hfield at 2 this is what we were saying yesterday the the the fixture times are staggered a little bit over the weekend and it doesn’t really creates um it doesn’t really make for you know an easy viewing experience for for for uh fans I would argue um Nan
Forest Blackpool at two who’s the favorite there oh we had to say Nan Forest but again they need they just got themselves Back In Contention in the league and you might maybe say that this was a bit of a a bit of a distraction for them but their fans probably
Wouldn’t see it that way what’s happening with Manchester United’s roof well finally being fixed finally so the new owners are getting in there Ellie and there’ve been a problem there for about a couple of Seasons fans have been getting wet in the South stand and the
Bobby Charon stand uh with the the hole in the roof it’s been coming through it’s been getting bigger and bigger as The Season’s gone on and and uh the glazers have been accused of of penny pinching by not getting it fixed it’s about a it’s a couple of million pounds
To fix it problem is Steven there’s there’s a railway line behind it the Manchester Liverpool Railway line so the the club and the building Partners have got around the table with the rail bosses it’s going to cause some disruption to the rail the rail schedule and with strikes already happening in
That part of the world it’s already quite difficult and to manage and so in the summer they’re going to it looks like they the fans are going to have to get wet for a little bit longer over the winter and Manchester it’s not like you
Get a lot of rain there is it oh Blum so it’s going to be fixed in the in the summer it looks like and that’s in the that’s one of the number one items in Sim rli’s intro as well good well it does need to be Sol they’ll be paying a
Pretty penny as well w’t they for would thought so yeah exactly yeah exactly Aiden thank you very much good to see in a bit thank you now the now departed founder of sportsware brand Lululemon chip Wilson has recently been criticized well he criticized the company first for
Being too inclusive uh and then he was criticized for saying that some women are simply too fat to wear leggings uh well a spokesperson for the brand has said Lululemon e see for me to say is committed to fostering a a diverse and welcoming environment yes so this
Morning we are asking the question is it okay to call women fat well let’s talk to Steve Miller former presenter of fat families who joins us now Steve good to see you this morning can we call people fat and should fat people wear leggings well I I think that it all depends about
How it depends about context first of all so I would never suggest running around the streets shouting oi fatty do something about it that would be completely wrong but it’s also about how it’s done and the tone of it as well and I think it’s it’s ridiculous to start
Thinking about banning the word fat because what do you replace it with I wrote a few examples do we replace it with rotund do we replace it with hortle rather than fat do we replace it with chubby obese okay thick I’ve even seen that mentioned or or or you’re getting a
Bit wide I mean it’s just ridiculous I think those words are more insulting than the word fat so I always say to people it depends in what context it depends how it’s said and I one of my favorite strap lines is I always tell my ladies you’re too gorgeous to be fat and
They seem to love it oh that’s quite a nice nice way of putting it um I mean we’ve got loads of emails in on this Steve as you can imagine um Dennis has emailed in to say doctors need to say you were carrying too much fat so make
It a fact rather than an insult is that something that’s perhaps a bit more acceptable well I mean we’re still using the word fat I just think doctors you know should be empowered to tell it as it is you going to save somebody’s life
I mean if you’re fat you’re fat I mean I mean people say oh replace it with the word overweight well what does overweight mean overweight means you’re too fat we’re going round the houses with this word and the thing to remember of course is that being fat the word
Sorry the word fat won’t hurt you necessarily being fat might and that is the difference so I I think anyone that’s that’s moaning constantly from a political correctness perspective well I have two words for them fat off oh well I tell you what we are in
This situation now and it’s it’s I mean this guy chip Wilson has been criticized partly for sort of you know body shaming which is a which is a big thing now and it’s I find myself torn because you don’t want to body shame anyone you don’t want to make anyone feel bad if
They’re happy in in life and getting on with things however that seems to then override the health concerns yes on the one hand you see we’ve got the the you know every everyone’s saying that being obese is unhealthy uh and it can create lots of illnesses and that’s absolutely correct
But on the other hand you’ve got this conflict because you’ve got this normalization where it’s all about you know we’ve gone from well we’ve gone from the catwalk to the fat walk let’s all celebrate our curves well curves is another euphemism for fat um and and and
It is it is it is a it is a balancing act but yes it is also i’ I’m hold my hands up to this it’s also about recognizing people deserve ve to be who they want to be I accept that and and you know it’s not about being horrible
To the person when they’re fat it’s about supporting them but supporting them means telling the truth and the word fat says it as it is and and over 20 years of of working with people and readily using the word fat I can honestly say I’ve never had anyone that
That’s moaned about me using the word fat and in fact a lot of them actually quite like it a lot of my ladies they love it I mean makes them laugh we have a good gidle about it they call themselves massive fatties well look we’re out of time really but I want to
Ask you this because seems we’ve got you and you’re an expert on all this you may as well get your advice because Paul’s been in touch and he says I’m clinically obese with mobility issues fatty liver disease diabetes and a heart condition he says I love food I think I’m probably
Addicted to food I’m on the waiting list for gastic gastric surgery but the wait is 6 years and that’s just to see the weight management team to start the process what should someone like Paul do well there are three there are three there are a few things number one I
Would say to Paul is to make sure that he’s not dieting that he’s living 8020 so he’s eating 80% well 20% what he fancies number two he’s got to find his motivators you know uh weight loss and weight management is a is a a challenge
Of the mind so he’s got to find some things that will motivate him and drive him and the third thing rather than throwing himself on the operating table what I would say is think about some Alternatives one of the things that I advocate uh heavily uh excuse the pun is
Clinical hypnosis it can help it can really really help people especially to control the food int yeah I have heard that actually Steve Miller former presenter of fat families thank you very much indeed yeah really good to talk to you yeah Lo of you getting in touch on
That Chris says we need to find the balance between over and underweight being underweight so kills it goes both ways it’s a it’s a it’s a very very valid point um look keep your thoughts on that coming through and stay with us because we’ve got headline makers heading way in just a Moment 2024 a Battleground year the year the nation decides as the parties gear up their campaigns for the next general election who will be left standing when the British people make one of the biggest decisions of Their Lives who will rise and who will fall let’s find

Actually from the world I’m an adopted scouser oh yeah yeah yeah I’m adopted but I was given the freedom of the city which was great how can you be well dear man because well we are a community but they always say you you live on the
Other side of the water you’re not a real scouser oh no I’m from you know and you’ve been accepted as one now well you sound aart Pete that’s all that matters nobody nobody loves Liverpool more than I do right nice um all right let’s kick off with the Sunday Times it’s okay to
Skip school is it yeah no of course it’s not of course it’s not this is a new survey finding that over one in four so 28% of parents basically since the pandemic now feel they have a much more relaxed attitude to their children going to school they now think it’s okay for
Children not to attend school every day both our education secretary Julian Keegan and the shadow education secret this really interesting article in Sunday Times Bridget Phillipson talking about her childhood and the poverty and all of that but both the education secretes and the shadow are talking about the importance of really cracking
Down on this and getting children back to school they’re doing this kind of intervention where they want to have mental health ambassadors in every in every school in every area but it’s they’re talking about a kind of culture of lockdown um persistent absence in schools Road from 10.9% before the pandemic to
22.3% last year that’s 22.3% of children not attending school every day and we were talking just now about young people not having that culture of getting up going you know putting on a shirt and tie going to work I think it starts here if you’re not living in a family where
You get up and go to school it’s very very damaging for for children and there’s a real concern over this kind of Lost covid Generation I just can’t understand the parents it’s interesting it’s structure it’s structure in the family responsibility structure and more and more parents are also ignoring the
Fact they’re going on holiday and just paying the fine yeah they just pay because they don’t care that’s more a middle class problem I know I do not say that’s middle class in any shape or form Working Class People also go away and don’t give a damn over
Holidays and they’re pain as well it’s a right across the board now it’s the cost living issue isn’t it what do you say they say about the cost of living issue but you can’t afford for working class families if you want to take your children away even if it’s just within
The country you can’t do it during the school holidays they would say well we’ll take the60 fine because that’s better than exactly but you say you say about the cost of living the the Oz is on the Empire there’s a phenomenal show at the raw Court they’re sold out every
Day three shows a day you know it’s so don’t tell me about the cost of living it’s crazy people have got no money but they’ve got money when they want to go out yeah yeah yeah it yeah um all right let’s talk about knife crime should we
In the Sunday Express Pete because Idris Elba is getting stuck into this now he’s launching a thre Monon Campaign which is starting tomorrow uh to because of this blight this epidemic that’s going and he’s launching it outside Parliament tomorrow uh with some of the parents of
The victims um The Campaign aims I just point this one point out uh immediate ban the use of the sale of Michelle IES and zombie knives a media ban why are they ever on sale for a start that’s for start then they want to restore the uh
Serious violence uh task force now the problem with that and this is where I get a little bit bemused you can’t stop children carrying knives these days it seems to be an epidemic so you educate them the best education in the world is putting a policeman in school talking
Talking talking I was in the catering industry years and years ago I walked around with seven knives so I had a bag of knives the idea of sticking a knife into a human being is appalling to me and I can’t imagine how and why you
Would do it so I did I Carri those knives around I don’t understand why children have knives you blame governments you blame uh ministers you blame this you blame that it’s got to start with the parents it’s got to start with the parents or am I wrong and with
The school culture and with this idea that you get your you leave the house you get your phone your keys your wallet and your knife because that is the problem when young men and it is mostly we’re talking about you know children young people mostly men I me we’ve just
Seen that terrible stabbing on Primrose Hill on New Year’s Eve of that 16-year-old ination when you have a knife it things can escalate there is there is a cultural thing as well around this which is which I don’t quite understand and it’s not entirely but it is predominantly black crime there’s a
Lot of this black on black crime when it comes to knife crime amongst teenagers and Gang Related other which is why it’s very important that Idris Elbert is because he’s an example to all um young black men and often young black men who haven’t got a father figure in the
Family you know he’s an important Ambassador for this I think it’s really yeah but there was just towards the end of the pandemic I had a knife pulled on me in a car park it was a white guy uh and there was a gang of them and they’d
Been having problems with the guy who was running the car park I helped to defend him and they pulled a knife now the point I’m making is they will tell you youngsters their argument is I carry a knife to protect myself I’ve never carried a knife to protect myself I’ve
Had problems in my life but I wouldn’t think of carrying a knife I love the idea of sending um um um police into schools so so much so and I love uh in Liverpool when our police have the the knife arches I think they’re wonderful and I think you should have standard
Knife archers and make people walk through you won’t believe you need to increase the penalties for being found with a knife on you so that people are not cuz this is the problem everybody knows that young men get into get into RS yeah they get into fights and whatever and there’s
You know issues with between this gang and that gang but when you have a knife or a gun suddenly it becomes a fatal incident you know rather than just a fight or someone abusing someone else it’s got to be a a bigger penalty for being caught carrying a knife yeah I
Don’t want police in schools although I suppose it’s inevitable but no no there are police go into schools now already to educate children it’s a great way of getting to know the Bobby as they call you know but I remember years ago in in nightclubs I ran a huge club and the
Gangsters used to come in they were gangsters if they had a problem between each other they would meet in the gym the next day put boxing gloves on punch each other shake hands and go back then all of a sudden it’d all changed with drugs the knives started coming in yeah
It’s not good Emma let’s uh change tack a little bit shall we um go we’ll stick with the express though and this is Holly Willoughby on the front page of a lot of the papers this morning actually because she’s back I’m going to well I’m going to sound like I really care about
This passionately she’s bravely returning to our TV screen bravely I mean honest to nothing to do with money nothing to do with money I know I know I I really fail to care yeah she lives a wonderfully gilded lifestyle anyway the excitement is that she’s back on Dancing
On Ice tonight Steven look as excited as I don’t I really couldn’t would give a monkeys I know I mean nothing against her I’ve never met the woman I’ve got nothing against her she’s got a lovely job she’s very well paid yeah she’s she’s had a difficult time I assume with
Her co-host Philip scoffield who had to leave five months ago because of the issues over his affair with a young runner on the TV on ITV and there we go she’s back I mean I suppose the the issue is what will be it’s it’s thought that she may well make a brief statement
At the start of the episode no dancing on ice explaining her 5 month absence from our screen or explaining her absence from our screen what’s she going to do start it off by saying maybe an Oscar’s feet now first how are you doing are you okay and I’m missing two knots
On the end of my bank account I’m back I bet she’s yeah well honestly well there was a horrific alleged this is me reading out a horrific alleged kidnap and murder plot yeah and her and her nightmare time with Philip scoffield so she’s really been through the mill on a
Serious note though they must have beefed up security because death threats to be fair she’s got kidra safety during filming at the studio in hartfordshire but why doesn’t she just get on and present if there’s a message at the front it’ll finish me off just get on do the job after the
Reaction from last time I think she would well let’s wait and see are we all going to be watching dancing on ice tonight we’re talking about it watching it cuz me mate’s on CLA Sweeney oh is she yes she’s on oh yeah and the Vivian
Was on last year so you know I only watch you for that and I went down cuz I I skate once and when you fall you fall oh my word you fall I put my teeth through my bottom Li three stitches I thought you’d be like the Sugar Plum
Fairy on skates yeah well no no no I was they they I used to work in an I used to work in an ice ring in Liverpool and I was the DJ and I went out on skates and when you fall it’s like falling on the road it hurts and there’s sharp things
Around are you blades Jennifer Ellison the other year she did a high cuz she’s a train dance a high kick and split her head she had stitches in her head on television it terrible so it is dangerous I won’t be doing that show then yeah who’s got the best job who’s
Got the best job Holly she watches does nothing on skates yeah no good for her though good for her but I just don’t really care that she’s coming back um Pete let’s have we’ve got oh we’ve got 1 minute 20 let’s just talk about East scooters oh the e scooters can’t I save
That to the next one oh we can do that’s a really important one oh is it really important one but the pilot the pilot story is important because 171 flights are being cancelled so that’s going to cause chaos for Holiday makers for people traveling it’s going to be a
Knock on effect all around the uh the world which is a dreadful story imagine if somebody had been sitting next to that window that door um they would have been sucked out yeah they would thank for SE this is why you would always have your seat belt on oh yes good point
Actually but somebody lost their shirt didn’t they some lost their phone and their phone but the shirt was pulled off them that’s a a conversation killer wasn’t it well it was a conversation killer than the important thing is a lot of flights are going to be cancelled now
Because of that and it’s going to cause chaos around the and an investigation as well aren’t there because you don’t want that happen God are people amazing doing their emergency Landings I don’t know if you saw the footage but those emergency Landings that the pilots do they just
They just yeah they really Stell a job from the pilots also the cabin crew involved as well they’re not just there to serve drinks are they very they are certainly not uh look Pete Emma thank you we’ll see you later on right let’s see what the weather’s going to do for

Promises to slash taxes ahead of the election by curbing welfare and government spending as he says a vote for farage is a vote for labor here’s Katherine forer yes it’s election year and after yesterday’s TWP cut in um the National Insurance um there’s going to
Be more tax cuts to come this year and also warnings what voting for reform might do meanwhile labor is calling on the prime minister to come clean about his reservations towards the Rwanda scheme and published documents that allegedly show his apprehension when he was Chancellor the health secretary warns a
Knock on effect caused by the junior doctor’s strike could last for months amid the longest walk out in NHS history but the union thinks they still have a lot of support public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know the public a feeling
The pressure that the NHS is under as well I think they can empathize with the the issues that doctors are facing with many of us looking to get into shape in the new year are the diets we’re following causing more harm than good while we’re going to be joined by a
Nutritionist later on in the show we’ve got your sport with Abel yes indeed and after all that controversy last summer when Jordan Henderson went from Liverpool to Saudi could he be about to call time on his spell over there after just six months months we’ll find out
Later on and Old Trafford could that hole in the roof finally be about to be plugged that’d be nice wouldn’t it uh Greg do has has weather hello good morning many of us waking up to Frosty scenes this morning temperatures below freezing some Icy stretches and fog too
Find out if it will warm up anytime soon in the program coming up morning to you I’m Steven Dixon and I’m Ellie Costello and this is breakfast on GB news Do apologize I appear to have lost the ability to speak very morning very what’s going on do you ever find you do that though when you’re saying something and people look at you and go what and you didn’t even realize your brain does not register that you’ve just made it up
Yeah I find it amazing when we swap letters do you ever do you ever have that the word she’d be like mud gning instead of good morning that would happen as well my my brothers in-laws brender and Glenn I always call them glender and Brinn always grinda and Brinn glender and
Brinn instead of brender and Glenn I do it all the time not not to their faces I hope they’re watching very very good yeah it happens to me all the time as well so don’t worry it happens the best of us darling and it’s very early uh
Well not so early anymore but anyway um got you all going on the the fat debate we had earlier uh can you call people fat is it very rude or is it acceptable uh Alan says fat is fat thin is thin tall is tall and short is short what is
Wrong with those descriptive words nothing leave language alone yeah and that’s I would absolutely agree with you Al the issue here was saying someone’s too fat to wear leggings yeah and is that is that right well mind you filamina says it’s not okay to call anyone fat however I wouldn’t want to
Wear unflattering clothes if they don’t suit my body shape Susan endorser says I think it’s okay to call someone fat but where does anyone get off in saying what I can or can’t wear too fat for leggings mind your own business she says Tony in Brig oh Tony says the
Government should subsidize the sale of mirrors people who wear undersized clothing have obviously not seen themselves in a mirror m yes yes uh and Pam yes Pam says I don’t mind being called fat because I am fat I’m 14 stone5 says Pam thank you for all of
That one the things I knew someone who um and she was she was a big girl that’s be said but she had this thing she used to wear a t-shirt saying sexy doesn’t have a size which I think is and you know what I totally supporter in that I
That’s absolutely right however there’s there’s still that balance between between that and being healthy it’s about health issues because where are we uh Melanie uh says because we oh we had fat families a presenter of fat fames said my steps sister and her partner went on
Fat families and he was warned if he didn’t lose weight he’d be dead in six months six months later he dropped dead at home and left his partner and two small children that’s very serious that’s the reality and even if you don’t health issue and it I mean you’re not going to
Have a long elderly life if um If you’re sort of fat throughout the majority of your life you’re clinically obese um so it’s a difficult one you don’t I don’t want to body shave any I wouldn’t ever want a body shave anyone I don’t care what what you look like I really don’t
But I do want you to be healthy no yeah maybe we should be looking at it as a health issue rather than as an insult mind you I’d never criticize anybody else cuz I’m My Own Worst critic stuff like that he is very nasty to himself
Aren’t you yeah but I’ve got to be you know it’s it’s whether you feel happy or not I mean I’m on Slimming World at the minute here is and it’s because I’m not happy with how I look I don’t need to shed masses of weight I could do be
Losing a couple of stone I but I get upset with you because I think you’re very nasty to yourself and you hold yourself to account I think a bit too harsh yeah well want to be want to be fit here we are want to be healthy he
Only had a soup for dinner last night an onion soup which was quite literally onions and water just water a stock Cube I’m a stock Cube it’s not enough it’s not enough I won’t be having that every day I’m not on a super diet but it was
Just like be bothered to make last night but I do worry about you so anyway you look great thanks got nothing to worry about um and we’re also talking about SL changer attack the race to number 10 and I do like this email in from from Leslie
We love hearing from you thank you for for keeping us company this morning uh she says because Richi suak doesn’t want would be Tory voters to vote for reform because he say it’s going to split the Tory vote at the next election but Leslie says every vote for reform is a
Vote to say we’ve had enough of what is going on it does not matter anymore if conservative or labor get in they are both the same so it’s a protest vote that’s interesting well it has been a very busy 24 hours for the Prime Minister as we head into what is just
The second week of this election year yeah would you believe so much has happened already the Prime Minister has pledged to curb benefits and government spending in order to help to fund more tax cuts that’s as he also claim claimed that every vote for Nigel faraj or the
Reform Party is a is a vote for sakir starma ahead of this year’s election well labor have also called on the prime minister to come clean over his alleged reservations when he was Chancellor towards the Rwanda scheme well s dama has called on number 10 to publish these
Papers from March 2022 that reportedly suggest he had concerns over the extortionate cost of the plans and also didn’t think they would act as a deterrent let’s talk to our political correspondent Katherine forer who’s here let’s start with the good news which seems to be more tax cuts on the horizon
But cuts to benefits to pay for them yes so the good news potentially is we had the cut to National Insurance yesterday uh richy soon at the Prime Minister saying I’m going to be crystal clear my priority is cutting taxes so it’s looking like come March the 6th in the
Spring budget there will be more taxes tax cuts coming for people in work we’ve heard about potential inheritance tax cuts let’s see if that happens but yes they’re wanting to do this clearly they’re after our votes aren’t they it’s an election year they’re very mindful of that they’re
Saying that they’re going to um crack down on the welfare budget they already identified about 4 million billion pounds of savings um in the Autumn looks like they’re going to go further freeze on hiring civil servants more curbs to P public spending in general worth saying that um there’s quite severe
Restrictions on public uh spending coming after the next election anyway it’s going to be very difficult for whoever is in power after the next election but this is obviously trying to get votes and also laying a trap for labor who’ve been busy banging on about how heavily the government is taxing us
Taxes are at a sort of postwar High um labor presumably will have to keep these tax cuts for working people they reverse an inheritance tax cut um but it will severely limit room that they have to decide what they’re going to prioritize if and when they come into well because they’d already
Said according to the papers over the last couple of days K dmer has said that would we want to cut taxes but we couldn’t do it for two years so so so if that does change before they before and if they get into Power well that then’s going to change their entire economic
Plan isn’t it well I think I think lab already expecting that the conservatives are going to be cutting taxes to try to get votes so I think lab already factoring that in but basically explicitly saying there isn’t going to be much money yes we’d love to cut taxes
On working people further we don’t know if we can and of course only yesterday the chancellor Jeremy Hunt was saying I’d like to go further but I don’t know if I can and the problem is the government been on a massive spending spree hasn’t over the last few years you
Know we had the Furlow scheme paying people’s wages war in Ukraine paying People’s Energy bills it’s all come at a huge cost so difficult choices but clearly the government have to do something to try to get people to vote for them give them a positive reason to
Vote for them hope that that will help people feel a bit better off and a bit less cross with them Richie also used this interview the Sunday Telegraph to warn WB Tory voters of potentially voting for reform or or Nigel farage who’s honorary president isn’t he um is
He spooked are theor spooked by reform oh they are worried about reform I mean they they’ll tell you it’s no problem in Philip Davies the other day saying that they were irrelevant I think what he meant was they were they’re Irrelevant in terms of how many seats they’re going to win
Because they’re standing everywhere they’re not going to win many or any seats but they’re certainly not Irrelevant in the damage they can do to the conservative party now Richard TI the other day talking about starma get gedon warning of the dangers of labor but reform are to the right of the
Conservatives they appeal to people disaffected with the government who feel that the conservatives aren’t conservative enough um I suspect they’re going going to take far more votes from the Tories than they are from labor so ultimately that looks set to to help the labor party looking at some of the
Emails as as we so often do I was reading one that said um I’ve always voted conservative I am going to vote reform I don’t care that it means that we’re more likely to get labor because I’m so cross with the conservatives and I think what Sak sta has done is that
People aren’t NE neily wildly enthusiastic about labor but what he’s done is he’s made labor not scary people when Boris Johnson was running for office people were generally frightened of Jeremy Corbin getting into Power what he might do both in terms of the economy and in terms of foreign policy so K
Starm has made voting labor risk-free to a lot of people they might not want them in power but they’re not worried in the same way and so uh that’s that’s another problem for the conservatives yeah Katherine thanks very much indeed thank you now the longest strike in NHS
History has now entered its fifth day with Junior doctors taking to the picket lines in a long running dispute over pay and conditions but it comes amid hospitals pleading for junior doctors to return to work because of fears for patient safety several NHS trusts have now declared critical incidents because
Of the strike action well our Yorkshire and humble reporter Anna Riley has been to find out just how much support people have now for the strikes we want restoration when do we want it now a new year and a new strike for junior doctors this time lasting 6 days in the longest
Industrial action in NHS history and it comes at one of the busiest times of the year as the NHS grapples with winter pressures the dispute over paying conditions has now entered its 10th month with Medics asking for more money to compensate for pay cuts going back to 2008 patients deserve doctors who are
Well paid who are well rested who are well resourced and the UK is not providing this at the moment 15 years of pay carts have put our profession on its knees we graduate and we with tens of hundreds of thousands of pounds of of debt and on top of it we pay thousands
Of pounds on a yearly basis for exams and courses is putting a strain on our colleagues who are leaving the profession Junior doctors were given an 88.8% pay rise last summer with an extra 3% offered which was rejected by the British Medical Association and despite almost 1 million operations and
Appointments being cancelled due to the strike action Junior doctors here at leed’s General infirmary feel they still have public support opinion polls throughout our strike action have actually showed that public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know the public are feeling the pressure that the NHS is
Under as well I think they can empathize with the the issues that doctors are facing keep our NHS public has supported Junior doctors on the picket line since strikes began in March last year I was a consultant in leads for nearly 30 years and uh you know I believed in providing
The best possible care for my patients and I think with the state of play with the NHS at the moment they’re simply not getting the care that they should do a Christmas poll by IPS sauce put NHS staff at the top of the nice list but here in leads there’s mixed opinion on
Support for the junior doctors I couldn’t do it because I’d be thinking about the patients and that’s what they should be doing regardless of pound Shillings and Pence does disturb me a little especially at my age if I’ve got to go into a hospital is there going to
Be help for me there you know 15 quid and out it’s nothing for the job that you’re doing you’re risking your life you’re saving people’s lives you should be expecting something better people are dying which is ridiculous and these strates going on and on and on we really
Need to see workers respected and treated with um the dignity they deserve and especially those in sectors like healthcare it’s affecting me because I’m supposed to be going in and I’ve been delayed and I’m getting delayed again so I’m not right happy about well I do have
Sympathy for him but we’re all in the same boat the strike action will continue until 7: a.m. on Tuesday and is set to be the most disruptive in the nhs’s 75 years Anna Riley GB news leads let’s talk to health expert Lucy Johnston who joins us now morning to you
Lucy um where is this leaving the NHS and the state of the NHS can it survive um not just the next couple of days actually for these places in critical measures but actually the the aftermath the long-term effect of this strike which will continue for some
Time absolutely I mean the NHS is at Tipping Point the strike is at the worst time of year and the impact of these strikes will likely go on for months it’s expected that about 200 operations will be cancelled operations and procedures and there are already over 7
Million on the waiting list so uh Rishi Sun’s pledge to get that waiting list down is is is looks you know even further away so I think there needs to be some um form of um conciliation the government is not is refusing to budge unless the junior doctors stop striking
The junior doctors are refusing to sit around the table unless the unless they receive what they see as a credible offer and the people who are suffering are patients and as we’ve seen last week patients lives are being put at risk and hospitals around the country have declared critical incidents which means
There is a threat to health and life and Lucy where do you think we stand now in terms of public support because they the junior doctors have had quite good public Support over the last 11 months the polls would suggest that uh but now these hospitals have been declaring
Critical instance over the last few days hospitals themselves calling on Junior doctors to cross those picket lines and come back to work where do you think the public opinion stands well interestingly um we’ve just done a poll at the Sunday Express for the Sunday Express on this um it may not
Tell us everything but it looks as if support which was there is starting to wne obviously I think there was a a survey showing that every one in three households or individuals is affected so either your people are affected or a relative someone in their household and
Our survey showed that uh 44% of people do support the junior doctors but about 36% don’t so that’s roughly uh even and it looks as if that support is now waning and I think once the junior doctors lose public support um it’s it’s hard for them to to carry on with this this
Industrial action okay Lucy good to see you this morning thank you now Birmingham city council is expected to release a credible plan to address a 300 million pound budget Gap over the next two years by the end of play today pressure is on is it the council effectively declared itself
Bankrupt in September after facing a bill worth £760 million due to equal pay settlements well joining us now is our reporter will Hollis good morning to you will so Birmingham city council expected to release this credible plan by the end of today yes well that’s when the deadline
Has been set for whether they’ll release that credible plan uh today we’ll have to wait and see how the hours go forward there are three things that have been troubling Birmingham city council financially number one is relating to equal pay claims that’s around 700 million it relates to Historic pay
Discrepancies between jobs that were done more by men and jobs that were done more by women at the council and so that’s mounted up one type of debt uh the other type of debt is because of a faulty it system that’s about 100 million pounds but the one that we’re
Really focusing on is the in-year budget Deb debt councils have to legally balance their budget if they cannot balance their budget they have to effectively declare themsel bankrupt it’s a section 114 notice council’s can’t go bankrupt by nature but it’s the closest thing that we can say uh to
Having a really serious problem inside of a council and that in-year budget that was around uh I think it’s 80 million PS for this year specifically but over the next two years it’s expected to mount to around 300 million so government Commissioners sent in by the department for leveling up have been
Here at Birmingham city council for the last couple of months from the end of last year and and just before Christmas they set this deadline for a credible plan that has to be delivered by the finance officer and the finance officer of Birmingham city council says that the
Council has to rebuild its savings programs from a standing start because it was under delivering the Commissioners have said that a step change in the level of organization and focus and grip at the council on its finances is needed this is a labor run Council it has received a lot of
Criticism from the local conservatives as well as the local uh Council in Nottingham not Nottingham City Council also a labor run Council that has just handed in a section 114 notice as well effectively declaring bankruptcy two very different problems but all relating to the amount of money that the council
Has and the amount of debt now these sorts of councils have re received a lot of criticism recently from the government including the Prime Minister but the councils are saying that they actually need more funding from government at a time when uh their funding has been Stripped by uh by Executives at the
Government well Hollis there for us in Birmingham thank you very much indeed okay time to get a check on the weather today it’s a cold one here’s Greg good morning I’m Greg jeur and welcome to your latest GB news weather it’s cold start this morning across the
Country some Frost fog and icy stretches in places but it will be largely dry plenty of Sunny spells as we go through the day we will have this area of cloud though bringing some showers in across Northeast England could be sleet and snow over the higher ground here and
Also some winry showers affecting Kent through the day but they should ease as we move through into the afternoon but for many plenty of sunshine few fog patches perhaps lingering Southern Scotland Northern Ireland but mostly clearing and temperatures on the cold side 2 to celius for many perhaps six or
Seven around a few Coastal stretches and then as we move into the evening time temperatures fall away quickly we’ll see well below freezing across northern and western areas thicker clouds still moving in from the North Sea affecting parts of northern England perhaps stretching into Wales the Midlands and
Southeast England at times one or two wintry showers possible from this icy stretches developing widely again due to the wet ground as temperatures fall close to or below freezing some fog patches once more to take us in to Monday morning another cold start a widespread Frost and then through the
Day largely dry plenty of Sunny FS developing once Miss and fog patches clear a few wintry showers possible in the easterly breeze which does pick up as the day goes on turning quite brisk so feeling quite cold temperatures generally below average 4 5 celsus but feeling nearer to freezing see you

Channel have a great Saturday night with me Leo kson this Saturday night Showdown it’s a crazy world out there so come and make fun of it with me my panel of Comedians and a couple of people who actually know what they’re talking about this Saturday night Showdown is your
Front row ticket to the clown show every Saturday only on GB news the people’s Channel Britain’s News Channel no it’s not it’s 8:28 good morning to you it’s going really well it’s going very well I’m having one of those mornings today honestly it’s all going a bit PE shaped oh no we’re having a good time uh this is breakfast with Steven and nelli it is
Now it is the season when many of us will start looking at getting into shape again after Christmas whether you want to have that beach body or you just want to lose a few pounds for health purposes yeah but of course experts putting the kai BOS on it all saying avoid some of
The popular diets as they could do more harm than good we joining us now is nutritionist Rihanna Lambert good morning to you Rihanna very good to see you this morning so I mean it is Diet season isn’t it this is January it is the season it is what people think about
Um but you’re I guess heeding a warning to people not to just follow everything they see online yeah no absolutely and and not to of course um ruin this for anybody because I know this time of year of course can be extremely motivational it’s nice to make Health changes to make
Positive realistic resolutions but one thing that we see time and time again especially in my line of work um in a clinic where we work with people with all sorts of areas from diabetes obesity to eating disorders you know I see the dangers of these diets as well if
They’re not followed uh correctly but equally the fact they’re unsustainable the stats say that if you go on a juice diet for instance the minute you start eating again you’re more likely to just regain the weight uh if you are embarking upon um taking more supplements that you don’t need you
Actually increase your risk of cancer so there’s some really serious claims linked to just cutting out whole food groups like carbs which can sadly increase your risk as well of digestive cancers things like bow cancer um it’s really really important that when you make a dietary change you do it in a way
That works for your body because these are quite serious things I’m saying of course but anybody that just wants to you know have a look at feeling healthier I’m not saying don’t make dietary changes I’m just saying please be careful and avoid the fats but most
People I mean I know there I know there are the fads that that some people launch into but most people if they’re going to start a diet they do the the Slimming World The Weight Watchers the whatever it be which are you know I mean they’re sort of recognized as being a
Healthy way of and a slower way perhaps of losing weight well slow is the key you’ve mentioned there and for some people perhaps that might be an option but what I will say is a lot of these programs also don’t educate people about how to eat for life that is more about
Following a system of points or sins or numbers which is unsustainable and I know as I’m speaking now you’ve got clips of red meat which we know an increased amount of red Meek every week is also an increased risk of vow cancer and it is classified as a carcinogen so
We’ve got a lot of problems with the messaging around food in general in this country people are scared of ultra processed foods as well quite rightly so too much of those equally can be dangerous and the problem with these weight loss programs is that they expect
You to be a part of it for life they they want to keep taking your money so they won’t educate you on how to continue this program the minute you stop and that’s where we see the confusion because when people leave they’re left feeling vulnerable again and helpless and thinking well what on
Earth do I do now and there may be a minority that have had success with these weight loss programs and I do genuinely think that’s fantastic because it will have helped their overall health but we have to be sensible and think look this isn’t going to work for
Everyone there’s no one siiz fits all and in the media there’s so much messaging this time of year about how to lose weight in x amount of time time by the end of four weeks you know things that take a matter of weeks rather than like you’ve just said Steven at the
Beginning small changes over a long period of time which doesn’t sound very fun does it it doesn’t sound fun but you you touch on a a really good point there which is that this has to be a lifestyle change doesn’t it I mean diets aren’t just about weeks or months it’s about a
Lifestyle so what would you say are the best rules don’t have long with you so what are the best rules to live by when it comes to our nutrition uh best rules are changes that you can positively make an add in every day so what can I do every single day
Instead of what can I take out what can I add in is the first so can you add in some more whole grains to swap your white rice for brown rice costeffective ways of stocking your cupboards or cans of beans and pulses we know from the Blue Zone Diet research including beans
Pulses legumes can help you live longer it also contains more fiber so when your bnes do half meat half beans and pulses you know simple swaps drink more water and have a think about more plants because we do know the more veg I know it’s the same old messaging this is
What’s so ironic this time of year the more vegetables you eat with the more fiber the less likely you are to um increase your risk of certain Cancers and you’re more likely to lose weight keep it off and support your gut health by eating more variety of
Plants okay Rihanna got to leave it there thank you very much indeed good to see you this morning uh if you’re embarking on a diet let us know let us know how you do it I I would disagree with Ranna on the lifestyle thing with with some of these plans having having
Done them that they do you it’s a lot about maintaining the healthy lifestyle and all that you get a you do get a lot of support with that side of things I would disagree with her yeah and you’ve also got to find what works for you don’t you and what you do does
Work for you so yeah each their own as well I think a little bit uh let’s see what Aiden’s got for us this morning uh good morning good morning to you again morning morning starting off with Jordan Henderson oh yeah he’s I mean he’s thinking coming back isn’t he yes
According to the back pages of many of the national papers this morning now there was huge huge uproar last summer when he moved from Liverpool to Saudi he’d been at Liverpool since 2010 he was the England Captain a highly celebrated highly decorated player he’d also been a
Really Keen proponent of the lgbtq plus uh movement he had been wearing the rainbow armbands while while playing for England he’d been supporting the cause effectively and so they felt betrayed when he moved to Saudi which has obviously got a very uh poor record on uh on human rights and gay rights as
Well so look we all know what happened a massive check was put in front of his face £700,000 a week I think it was worth something like 38 million over the duration of a 4-year contract now the problem is that he’s had difficulty settling not just the family but also
The heat the humidity the Stander football is very poor also Steven realistically with England playing in the Euros next summer he can’t really going into that England squad having had a season that playing such a low level G Southgate is going to look at him and
Say look you’re not at the level you need you’re not be competing at the level compared to other players who have so there that there’s that to consider the team isn’t in very good form either he’s been playing for El EAC who’s who are managed by his former Liverpool
Teammate Steven Gerard they haven’t won since the end of November he’s not enjoying the experience and it looks as if he’s ready to call time already in the transfer window and basically try and come back now I don’t know who’d be interested there are teams who would
Like a central midfielder but it’s going to be a hell of a pay cup because although there are fabulous riches on offer in the Premier League they’re not going to get anywhere close given the age he’s at to matching 700,000 pounds a week that’s for sure and and coming back
Could also mean he’s going to have to write off some uh some tax as well because you don’t get the tax benefits in Saudi unless you’ve been there for two years so while the while the package and the salary looks very attractive right now the full benefits aren’t felt
After until after 24 months so it has to ride that off and take a cut and so he’s got decisions to make he’s going to have a holiday apparently uh in uh in in January go somewhere else probably not quite as warm so probably everyone else is going going somewhere warmer aren’t
They he wants to go somewhere less warm I think to try and make his decision and we’ll see what happens but I mean it just shows that money isn’t everything is it no certainly does uh should we look at the FA Cup because that matters to to clubs maybe lower down in the
League oh well it does absolutely I mean Mason United played Steven yesterday not the hugest draw they could possibly get but nonetheless it was a full crowd and they scored a goal in the second half to get through to the next round the first time since they were kicked out of the
League in 1992 because they were wound up effectively and so we saw some great games um yesterday with Liverpool playing Arsenal today at 4:30 uh we saw Chelsea went through Bournemouth went through having been two-nil down at QPR they turned that round to win win 3-2 Villa went through as well the first
Time they won an FA Cup tie since 2016 so we’re going have the draw on Monday night as well and let’s hope that someone like Maidstone I mean mold shot in action today as well this is interesting because Tommy widdrington their manager his uh his son is one of
The dancers on Strictly Kai Kai Woodington so um we touched on it yesterday you know you familiar with him no I don’t watch strictly you you do a bit of dancing I’m sure well yeah no I’m not not familiar with that gentlemen no no no we we look that all the shot in
Action today way to West Brom at uh at 2:00 and let’s hope some of those nonleague nonleague clubs are still in the draw on Monday get a really fun uh draw because that’s what that’s what it’s all about yeah no absolutely look Aiden thank you very much indeed good to
See you this morning thank you now the rspca is refusing to destroy XL Bully dogs we’re going to be discussing that and much more in headline makers which is Next join us every night on GB news at 11:00 p.m. for Headliners which is three top comedians going through the next day’s news stories which is exactly what you need because when the establishment has gone crazy you need some craziness to make sense of it Headliners you don’t

You’ll have fantastic benefits we’re also going to organize special events where you as GB news members can meet the presenters the onscreen faces scan the QR code or go to GB news.com ssupport thank you so Much it’s 840 good morning to you time for headline makers today with the writer Emma wolf and broadcaster Pete price uh good to see you both this morning Emma let’s start with the son on on Sunday um and the problems it says caused by the junior doctor’s strike
Will last for months come this is Victoria Atkins health sect’s been warning about this I mean really the extent of the well we already had the backlog we’ve already had all the hangover from the co you know from from the pandemic and the sort of Co and flu
Intensity at this time of year people 4,000 up to 4,000 beds a day before New years’s were being taken up by people with covid and flu um and then this six day walk out plus the 3-day walkout that we had before Christmas so understandably the health secret is talking about you know
The the fact that these problems will roll on for months and months and months the staff who are covering at the moment are going to need a rest at some point they’re going to need to be off um and um 1.2 million appointments have been either canceled or rescheduled so the
NHS is really I mean we say it every winter the NHS is on its knees but at this time of year with the cold cold weather which we know makes older people more poorly as well it really is in a very bad State and she’s saying you know
We just need to get around the table and talk to the um talk to the junior doctors and really deal with this situation and Rishi Sak has been saying the same thing although there doesn’t seem to be much talking of course if labor gets in the first thing they will
Do is deal with the junior doctors as they’ve done before in the past uh I think what’s sad is it would be lovely to know what people really think in hospitals because I know some senior consultants and they are appalled at the strike but they can’t go public they
Can’t say that publicly we’ve had an email similar to that from the wife of a senior doctor saying that they’re disgusted by it all but and I think there’s growing Sympathy for the nurses as well because we know that the nurses accepted a 5% pay increase and it’s complicated talking about these figures
Because look I think Junior doctors get really really generous pensions as well and you know the 35% figure is is kind of Staggering but it’s made up of lots of different things and the nurses had a different sort of pay settlement but they had to go back to work they
Couldn’t carry on striking the nurses could not afford to strike and many of us feel that the nurses are the ones who really keep the NHS going it’s and after the the pandemic we we’ve never recovered so this has not helped in any shape or form no it’ll be interesting to
See Tuesday is when this strike is is set to end it’ll be interesting to see what happens then because it’s thought the offer on the table is around 12% so far being rejected but that’s on par with what’s been offered Scottish Junior doctors and they had accepted that so it
Will be interesting to see You’ think we’re nearing the end or at least I’m more worried about the old people who are having their hip replacements cancel people who are living in pain and people who are not having their cancer diagnosis and who are not having their you know really life-saving treatment
People will die as a result of this strike well apparently we’re impacting one and three families in theuk these strikes Pete sorry you no no no after you Pete should we look at E Scooters absolutely the crime wave right and there is a crime wave they they say that
They’ve been used for 20,000 offenses in 3 years and that’s a 60% rise uh they’re they’re riding around uh their thieves drugs uh dealing uh sex attacks uh and phones getting stolen and they also lethal on the Pavements and the roads absolutely lethal and and this is despite private owners of these scooters
Being banned on public roads and Pavements but they can buy these online and they can buy them in shops and they can then uh make them go 70 70 miles per hour but it’s these it’s the people renting them isn’t it I mean and this is
What I mean a crime wave is a worry but I get fed up of seeing these bluming things SC because and then someone comes arounded the night with a van and picks them all up again the ebikes and the E Scooters just all over the pavement yeah
But you’re right Pete the speeds at which they go when ridiculous you it’s really and they’ve got no they’ve not taken a driving test or anything they all go through red lights you listening you all go through red lights and while you’re at it with this let’s get all
These delivery bikes going around the Pavements driving like 20 M an hour in and out of people it’s absolutely crazy but these a lethal weapons at 70 mph the the thieving the robberies of phones they just got pasture and it’s like Naples it’s the worst place in the world
To get robbed and it’s scooters now they’re doing it in England how do we fix this then what is it I get rid of the lot I think they’re a pain I think they’re an absolute I tried one Once by the way hysterical I looked I look
Bizarre on it can’t imagine I was overdressed for it overdressed I think yeah I think we have to remember there were lots of people that use them and use them regularly use them as a way to get to work when as you we’re about to have from this afternoon lond
Underground strikes which a rolling wave of strikes which are going to be 5 days of no tubes at all we’re in London but there are lots of people that use them to get to work I mean I’m well then should they get insurance should they have insurance I don’t know how you can
Do it that way but if if they smash into somebody there’s no you know we have toay insurance on car cyclists don’t have well cyclist should have insurance sorry M we we don’t go at the same speeds as E Scooters go I mean I’m I’m a fast cyclist but I’m not that fast
Especially not with J Vines quite fast 15 kilos of wiggling child on the back no I mean I think that that bikes of course they can in rare instances kill it’s slightly different when you’re in charge of an e scooter or an ebike a machine with a with a I mean look people
Need to be responsible but I think it it’s it’s a good thing to get people moving and to get them cycling and stuff but yeah they can be really really dangerous I was parked once and a bike hit me I was parked and a bike hit me he
Came straight over and landed on my boot I had no I had to pay for everything all the damages oh completely and utterly oh you see that’s ridiculous you know rid I’m sitting there minding my own business somebody’s on me boot then he’s on me me the front of me just from half
Naked and his bike stuck in the back of me car right moving on fast moving on yes let’s let’s talk about um exhale bullies now the Sunday people saying the rspca won’t destroy any now I have to say good on them because I it’s not the
Dog’s fault any of this I don’t like just destroying animals I’ve never chosen a story from the Su people before ever oh there you go go Sunday people makes it debut um well I disagree I think XL Bully dogs are basically a status symbol they are symbols not the
Dog’s fault aggression and violence and threat and if you have ever walked down the street with a small child at the level of a pram and a huge great big dog and these we’ve seen the footage of the dogs out of control in train stations bonus I agree with you it’s not the
Dog’s fault they’ve been highly bred to get the most violent characteristics to get these very very weird hybrid violent dogs the rspca is saying they will not put down any dogs whose Behavior doesn’t pose a risk until there’s a judge’s ruling on this we’ve had the ban that
Came in on December the 31st but the fact of the matter is why not put them down in a humane way oh and breed them out no look I mean I know it would require more funding for the rspca which is already stretched however they should
Be how if they can’t be held by public can’t be re So rehomed within the rspca or within but not put them to sleep no but then you need enough homes that can take these well no they have they’d have to be kept within the rspca were
There were every year there are more fatal incidents involving involving um these XL Bully dogs and other dangerous Brees they call them Devil Dogs don’t look at them there with the little sheep yeah they do look quite cute when you see them like that a mother whose
10-year-old was muled and killed by a dog by an XL Bully Dog and it was absolutely devastating so I don’t think there’s any excuse for having these dogs well no I I’m not saying they should be kept by members of the public I’m not I’m not arguing that point at all
Because if a decision’s been made it’s been made but I wouldn’t they need to be rehoused within an but then you see and then no more breeding no more breeding but I wouldn’t put down the ones that we that we have there just let them live
Out their days in a field somewhere I just I don’t like it and just to throw into that please carry more poo bags with you dog please cuz it seems to be is there an increaseing yes what I what annoys me I am a dog owner um and it’s
And it’s um what is it it’s a ridgeback ran ridgeback so they they’re big dogs um and that that was what I was dreading was the was the toilet issue but actually it’s fine and you just have to pick it up and get on with it what I
Really what really makes me angry more than people just not picking it up is people who put it in a bag and then Chu the bag the on the street plastic you’ve got even more pollution yeah exactly what is the point I know by res my our bags aren’t plastic they’re
Made out of corn starch so they look like plastic biodegrad they’re biodegradable and then you just carry them about and Chuck them in one of the bag the bins that you see about and then where you go not a problem just do it so
With it being a big dog is it a Carri a bag no not yet he’s got a bit more to grow going to go sorry about that if you haven’t breakfast yeah sorry sorry uh Pete let’s have a look at um firms going bust shall we yes it’s very sad because
It’s tied up with covid and it’s tied up with brexit and what they’re saying is more than 30,000 British businesses have been affected as insolvency cases saw last year because of covid and because of brexit why are they blaming brexit because the the uh Palam mine’s got a company and the paperwork is
Absolutely ludicrous just to try and sell stuff and to bring stuff in so that’s one of the problems that and we tied with covid then the flu and the uh covid um uh the pressure the administrations as we said before have gone up uh and let’s throw that into
That as well that is killing the hospitality industry yeah absolutely killing the hospitality I love them to do something on vat but cost too muche it’s very sad all these businesses going but so many places are closing in the hospitality industry they can’t you work in entertainment do you feel like
People just we’ve lost the culture so much like not quite so much of going out to pubs to restaurants to meeting up with people having a way but also um Hospitality can’t keep staff because they they can go anywhere they want for whatever cost they want now they they’re
Premium uh secondly the electricity and everything running it I mean Palam mine’s got the Art School uh Paul ASU and he has specialized chefs that he trains and he has a terrible time he keeps his staff but the costs and the whole industry and it’s the backbone of
England it’s it’s a huge income and to bring people in cities to Villages I mean more and more pubs are going which is really wrong a lot of v a lot of Village pubs are being run by the owners of the the village now rather than losing the
Maybe then we should all just be having dinner parties at home it’s not good for the industry but this Nigella Lawson yes she says um that she’s given up on lavish sharees but she said eating at home with friends in an understated way but she’s not giving them beans on toast
She’s not she’s not say that you know it’s still quite but she also says in in the story that more and more dinner parties are going midweek midweek mid midweek I’m not sure about that they have more options do a bit of cooking in the afternoon while they’re working I
Have closed my dining room down at home I’ve actually got rid of my dining room cuz my friends were costing me too much money they were drinking me and eating me dry so I went enough’s enough that’s it I saw one of them drinking vintage port I looked through the crack of the
Door putting in half pint glasses putting it over there so they didn’t know it was them drinking it and blaming them so I went it’s gone dinner pass so the small ones it’s on your knee now with a takeaway if you’re lucky I’ve never done dinner parties I’m not a
Dinner party person at all the idea of having to cater for people at the end of the day and doing all of that oh just gives me the gives me well when you do something lovely you’re going you don’t want to eat that do you do you not think
You look when I was in the cing industry I did a buffy once at a wedding and it was so beautiful I said touch it I’ll kill you it too good to eat yeah it was too good to eat it was beautifully done it was like Butella Lawson saying that
She’s scaled down her dinner parties I still imagine it being utterly she am just a little bit of this a little bit of that just a simple thing that she threw together rest of us the rest of us would have they put a picture in the
Paper of one of her dinner parties and there are little dishes but those little dishes take about an hour and to do get a bowl of twiglets lovely it’s been good to see you both this morning thank you very much indeed thank you weather Greg with the weather yeah looks like things
Are heating up boxed boilers sponsors of weather on GB news good morning I’m Greg jewhurst and welcome to your latest GB news weather it’s cold start this morning across the country some Frost fog and icy stretches in places but it will be largely dry plenty of Sunny spells as we go through
The day we will have this area of cloud though bringing some showers in across Northeast England could be S and snow over the higher ground here and also some wintry showers affecting Kent through the day but they should ease as we move through into the afternoon but
For many plenty of sunshine few fog patches perhaps lingering Southern Scotland Northern Ireland but mostly clearing and temperatures on the cold side 2 to 5 Celsius for many perhaps six or seven around a few Coastal stretches and then as we move into the evening time temperatures fall away quickly
We’ll see well below freezing across northern and western areas thicker clouds still moving in from the North Sea affecting parts of northern England perhaps stretching into Wales the Midlands and Southeast England at times one or two wintry showers possible from this icy stretches developing widely again due to the wet ground as
Temperatures fall close to or below freezing some fog patches once more to take us into Monday morning another cold start of widespread Frost and then through the day largely dry plenty of Sunny THS developing one SMS and fog patch is clear a few winry showers possible in the easterly breeze which
Does pick up as the day goes on turning quite brisk so feeling quite cold temperatures generally below average 4 5 celsus but feeling nearer to freezing see you soon looks like things are heating up boxed boilers sponsors of weather on GB News 2024 a Battleground year the year the nation decides as the parties gear up their campaigns for the next general election who will be left standing when the British people make one of the biggest decisions of Their Lives who will rise and who will fall let’s find

Britain’s Newsroom from 9:30 on GB news the people’s Channel Britain’s News Channel good morning to you it’s 9:00 Sunday the 7th of January today prime minister rishy sunak promises to slash taxes ahead of the election it’ll pay for it by curbing welfare and government spending he’s also saying a vote for farage or the Reform Party is a vote for
Labor labor is calling on the prime minister to come clean about his reservations towards the Rwanda scheme and publish documents that allegedly show his apprehension whilst he was Chancellor the health secretary warns the knock on effect caused by the junior doctor’s strike could last for months amid the longest walkout in NHS history
But the union thinks they still have a lot of support public support has been increasing throughout the strike action so I think you know the public are feeling the pressure that the NHS is under as well and I think they can empathize with the the issues that doctors are
Facing is it ever okay to call people fat while the former founder of a sportsware company claims that some women are too fat to wear his leggings so would you be offended and with many of us looking to get into shape in the new year a diet’s causing more harm than
Good and Greg duur how’s your weather hi Greg hello good morning many of us waking up to Frosty scenes this morning temperatures below freezing some Icy stretches and fog too find out if it will warm up anytime soon in the program coming up morning to you I’m Steven Dixon and
I’m Ellie Costello and this is breakfast on GB news John’s been in touch saying Stephen how can I calculate my bmi please is there a website or something there if you if you just search for it then it’ll take you to an NHS page I don’t know if I recommend it because because of you messaged in I just did mine and I’m
Classed as overweight it’s ridiculous it’s which I’m not overweight he’s not overweight no no no great shape but I’m claster overw so you got to be a bit careful with it it’s not a it’s not a science no that one the BMI yours is all right looking at yours but you did guess
Your weight I guessed it to be fair I don’t know what it actually is after Christmas no um but yes quite easy to do if you wanted to but it’s not an exact science I wouldn’t maybe pay too much attention to it eat less move more if
You want to be sort of PC about it about weight um Bob in shury says I don’t use the word fat I just say look at the state of that it’s not gender specific then but that’s a little bit um little bit different is yeah yeah uh
Trish says you look amazing you really don’t need to lose we is that to me yes and there was somebody else who called you perfect so I wanted to share that but I’ve now lost it but um I would agree uh Steph you are perfect says Suzanne oh thanks Suzanne so um there
You go mind you Trish was on to say as for fat people wearing leggings I think everybody looks Dreadful in leggings whatever their size only children can get away with them that’s an interesting point I personally feel that about myself I’m like I wouldn’t ever wear that reason well exactly I wouldn’t do
It for that reason maybe Trish and I easy thing to pop on in the morning yeah um well they are comfortable but I don’t know if I’d wear it out in public um and and lots of you getting in touch on Politics as well um and Chris in Sussex
Says the fact that RI cak has even mentioned the Reform Party in his first New Year’s interview with the Sunday Telegraph out today can only mean that he’s very concerned yeah I think that’s an absolutely Fair Point and it has been you know it’s been a very busy few weeks
Hasn’t it but it’s been a very busy 24 hours for the Prime Minister as we head into what is just the second week of this election year yes the Prime Minister has pledged to curb benefits and government spending in order to help fund more tax cuts he’s also claimed
That every vote for Nel farage or the reformed party is a vote for sakir stama ahead of this year’s election well adding on to his pressures labor have called on the PM to come clean over his alleged reservations towards the Rwanda scheme when he was Chancellor well kiss dama has called on
Number 10 to publish those papers from March 2022 that reportedly suggest that Rishi suak had concerns over the extortionate cost of the plans and also didn’t think it was enough of a deterrent well of course the Camila Tomy show is heading away 9:30 this morning
She’s here to give us a bit of a preview and an insight and her vast knowledge all this sort thing no pressure come well I mean 2024 is going to be an absolute cracker isn’t it we heard from the prime minister in the week talking about the fact that the election will be
In the second half of this year we don’t know when I think the Sunday Times is looking to October and calling it an October Fest for rishy sunak however as you have pointed out he does face a number of immediate stumbling blocks the interview in the Sunday Telegraph I mean
Typically sunak esque in that he doesn’t really say that much yes we know that the tor’s argument is that a vote for reform is a vote for starma but at the same time he doesn’t address the issue of why people are increasingly turning to reform but he’s not but he’s not
Wrong is he no he’s not wrong and we went I went to the press conference with our colleague Richard Tyson others in the week and that question kept on looming large at the end of the day if you’re going to divide the vote on the right if you’re going to try and take
Red War conservatives that are disenfranchised and don’t feel loved Enough by the current Tories and you’re going to appeal to others maybe in the blue wall then all you’re really doing is heralding in a Swifter labor Victory um at the same time and they’re not going to stand down anybody so they’re
Not going to do any deals according to Ty with the conservatives as they did when they were the brexit party back in 2019 so it could be more electoral Carnage I mean some of the polling actually puts reform ahead of the liberal Democrats I’m going to be
Speaking to Matt Goodwin about all that a little later I want him just to set the scene on the year ahead what are the approval ratings looking like for both leaders what are reforms chances both with and without Nigel farage um and also I’m going to be quizzing um a host
Of Mines about some of these stories so yes Rwanda the BBC have reported effectively that there’s some paperwork to suggest that Rishi sunak wasn’t ever really a fully-fledged supporter of the Rwanda deal with his treasury hat on he felt that it would all be too expensive
To be fair it’s costing millions and we still haven’t sent anybody to Rwanda have we so maybe that is Justified but it’s quite difficult for the prime minister to argue for a policy that people think he doesn’t ideologically believe in well also I mean it’s claimed
Isn’t it in the in these papers that he also thought as a deterrent which is the whole point of it it wouldn’t work yeah which doesn’t exactly Inspire confidence also I keep on wondering why on Earth he keeps on putting this policy particularly I get the argument for bringing inflation inflation bringing
Immigration down both legally and illegally but at the same time Rwanda isn’t necessarily the scheme that people are clamoring for on the doorstep they are saying bring the numbers down but no nobody saying well I’m definitely going to vote for the Tories because of Rwanda so why is he pinning all of his
Electoral hopes on something that we now discover he doesn’t actually personally believe in so we’ll be asking the chief secretary to the treasury Laura Trot all about that um I’m also going to be speaking to labors Bridget philipsson she’s made an intervention today about school truancy there’s a report by the
Center for social justice in the newspaper saying that one in four parents are relaxed about whether or not their children go to school but obviously I’m also going to be asking Miss philipson well I understand that you’re concerned about children not being in school but you’re going to
Implement a policy to put that on private school fees which private school bodies say could result in 40,000 children leaving private schools because their parents can’t afford the fees well what are you going to do with them on one hand you’re talking about children having to be in the classroom at the
Next you’re in danger of disenfranchising 40,000 kids how are you going to find the extra teachers for them in the public sector how you going to find the extra classrooms and how quickly are you going to be able to do it so I’ll be quizzing her and I’ve also
Got Tories from both right and left of the parties I’m going to be speaking to Liam Fox the former Defense secretary but I’m also going to be speaking to Damen green the leader of the one nation conservatives how can those two caucuses meet in the middle when it comes to the
Rwanda plan that they’re going to be voting on again in the coming weeks are they going to ever meet in the middle probably not no it’s a broad Church step but at the same time I do sometimes wonder if they’re even practicing the same religion oh very nice very nice do
You think they are spooked by the Reform Party as yeah definitely that first you would be I mean at 10% now some of the polling suggest that if our esteemed colleague Nigel faraj is goes across and heads up the campaign that that vote share could increase to 15 maybe even
20% that is disastrous for the conservatives yeah but why is it and what fascinates me with this is why is it not um going to be strug even if they that why are they not going to hit a point where they’re strong enough to actually take any seats because everyone
Said well they might do very well but they’re not going to get the first class the post system so I think what Niger wants to do is make the next campaign for um proportional representation for PR unfortunately the public doesn’t understand it as clearly as brexit and
It’s not quite a sexy a thing to campaign on however you could have quite a few righties even in the conservative party secretly being quite in favor of proportional representation because they want the likes of Reform to wind seats to put pressure on what they perceive to
Be a leftwing Tory party to become a bit more thatcherite in its intentions okay ca thank you we shall see you at 9:30 thank you very much thank you very much and now the Metropolitan Police are investigating the post office over potential fraud offenses committed during that now
Infamous Horizon it Scandal yes more than 700 branch managers were convicted of false accounting theft and fraud over a 15-year period Well it’s all come to light a little bit more there’s been 50 new potential victims coming forward following an ITV drama on the issue that aired in the last week well previously
The post office has said it encourages all victims to come forward well let’s talk to one of those victims uh Janet Skinner who joins us now Janet really good to see you this morning it’s worth pointing out amidst all of this you were sentenced to prison were you you were
Sent to prison for uh nine months when this was all kicking off yeah um 200 February 2007 I was given a n month custodial sentence I mean how do you even begin to recover from that even all these years on um the fact that you were accused and
Convicted of doing something that you did not do it’s hard to prove that you um you haven’t done it because obviously people just go with the manset you work in a post office you’re working with that money you’ve just basically taken it and it’s had to prove that you didn’t you
Didn’t so I think it was people just didn’t believe when you said look at I haven’t taken it so it’s just it is a a hard situation but I think this drama has helped bring everything to light and giving people a better understanding of what we’ve had to endure for the past 10
15 years how does it make you feel watching that drama because for many people it’s the first time they’ve heard of this Scandal they’re absolutely outraged as as to what happened uh to to all of you to all of these people that have been affected does it bring up pain for you
Does it bring up those painful memories does it make you feel angry or does it make you feel Vindicated in the sense that your experience is being shared um you get different emotions watching it because I think the thing is is although I wasn’t actually characterized within the drama
Everything that you see within that drama majority of us have been in that process so it’s it’s hard so it makes you well I’ll be honest I got mad I cried I cried probably on numerous occasions even though I was well aware of the stories that was um portrayed within the
Drama in terms of of getting some proper resolution to this and I don’t know if if if you were were made to pay back any of this money that you were accused of taking 59,000 pound I mean if if I read the drama right there’s a lot of people who who
Were forced to give money back that they were accused of taking and still even though it’s now been found that they did nothing wrong have never had that money returned to them um I did pay money back to them um I have actually had it returned to me I
Had it returned um earlier last year um through the work of my legal team um but um the put the Horizon system never balanced ever I mean from the time it was installed it just never you just never ever balanced so I mean God knows how much money people have actually put
In in hundreds of pounds I mean MPS now are calling for Swifter compensation uh for victims of this but I mean dozens as you will know dozens of sub postmasters um have died now without ever seeing Justice and it has I can imagine such an impact on you
Emotionally and physically I know that the stress of this case actually put you in hospital didn’t it yeah it did that was because um although um I’ve been in prison in 2007 they’d been sending correspondence um in regards to compensation that hadn’t been paid to them and it was going to the
House that I’ve actually lost um and then the following year in 2008 um after a numerous number of C hearings um I ended up in um hospital with a neurological condition um which powerized me from the net down I mean it’s an absolute disgrace I just find it
So hard even just to get my head round at all that something like this can happen and it is those innocent people on the front line like you who’ve been absolutely hung out to dry it’s affected your whole lives And yet when it comes to proper apologies proper compensation
And all the rest of it none of it really comes to light until ITV make a play about it yeah well this is the thing I mean this has been ongoing and I mean it’s been picked up now and again by the media um but I mean obviously due to the
Reporting of it um which there’s been a number of reporters that have been involved in it and it’s brought it more to the Forefront and people are understanding what we’ and I mean to be fair the drama that is actually just the tip of the iceberg of what’s happened I
Mean so many things have happened in between um each and every s um situation it honestly it’s just the tip of the ice bag that could spin off and spin off and spin off and do so many different more dramas and highlighting so many different more um stories within
It honestly it probably You’ probably just get B watching it because it’s on they are all the same and I don’t mean bod as in um I’ve seen this before but I mean is in the sense of it the stories are just the same but it’s what how
They’ve affected just families and you even legal teams have been um targeted because of this story Janet just very briefly we don’t have very long with you but I did want to ask you because there has been a a petition about Paul lenel who was the chief executive of the post office
Between 2012 and 2019 there’s this petition to strip her of her CBE uh it’s garnered more than 760,000 signatures so far would you like to see her stripped of her CBE would that bring any sense of justice to you do you think don’t think it it’s not going to
Actually bring justice but I think it needs to be removed and also the probably the massive pension that she walked away with I lost my pension along with a lot of other subst Masters so why should she why should they be rewarded for what they’ve done wrong when we’ve lost
Everything it’s a it’s a valid point uh Janet we really appreciate you talking to us thanks very much indeed thank you sharing your story thank you thank you oh makes me so angry me too makes people really sad well well we’re going to keep on top of that because there’s got to be
Movement on that and movement quickly actually I mean heck she was in prison in 2007 17 years ago I know I know and it has been going a very long time but there is growing pressure now for all of those past postmasters uh to be cleared
So I mean the fury is just intensifying isn’t it yeah absolutely now are you single well stay tuned to find out how to find that special someone in the world of online dating in 2024 your weekend starts here with Friday Night Live with me Mark Dolan 8 till 9 on GB news big stories big guests and big laughs as we get you ready for a cracking weekend that’s Friday Night Live with Mark Dolan Fridays 8il 9: on GB news bring your own drinks the emissions

Those of you who are single new dating opportunities are apparently on the horizon as apparently Peak dating season is upon us so how can we put our best selves out there here with some advice is dating and relationship expert Joe Barnett very good to see you this
Morning Joe so people who are entering 2024 single and I’d like to meet the love of their life this year what is your best advice well there’s not just one piece of advice obviously and happy New Year to you guys I would say that it is a great time to think about putting
Yourself out there a lot of people have been on their own over Christmas and New Year so you want to start by getting your profile ready and thinking about maybe joining one of the online websites because you’re going to meet more people through that forum and showing yourself
You know being honest about who you are and who you’re looking for and letting your profile really come alive so some different photos that are enticing and that show you in different environments perhaps doing a hobby perhaps outside you know not the usual holding a drink
Or um you know in in the pub get out get out and get into nature and do one of your past times that you absolutely love that make you feel confident and passionate about life and that’s really what you want to be sharing and bringing that energy and giving people a chance
Look W’s the right way to do this rather than getting out the b because I would I would suggest that there are a lot of men out there who aren’t wanting to be Mr Wright they’re wanting to be Mr Wright now so there are apps and there are apps
And there are people that will only want shortterm and there are people that will want longterm and that’s really always been the case so again that’s why you want to be very honest about whether looking for a relationship or you’re looking for fun and you want to start
Picking up the clues on who’s looking for what so I I would say an app isn’t the answer you do have to get out and meet people very very much so you know you can meet someone anywhere it could be the doctor’s surgery it could be the supermarket you want to be
Approachable and you want to be friendly and you want to always be looking your best and I would say say the online websites are probably the way to go because someone’s invested time and money in that and that means they’re more serious about looking for a relationship someone who’s looking for
Short term will just be on an app like Tinder I’m sorry to say okay good advice Joe thank you so much good to see you this morning that’s Joe bayet there dating coach and relationship expert and that’s it from us cila tomin is here next good morning I’m Greg jeur and
