Where I live the roads aren’t great and there’s lots of little rocks because we use gravel instead of salt in the winter. Would this be an okay bike? I feel like a road bike’s tires aren’t big enough to go over potholes.

The FX series can accommodate 38mm wide tires and while not a fast bike in comparison to some it sounds suitable for your roads.

Good hybrid for a good price if it shifts and brakes well, needs nothing or just a light tube up.
Hybrids are good for riding mostly on pavement or flat hard pack gravel. Or install gravel bike tires if you need more traction for rolling gravel roads or light smooth flat dirt paths or trails.
