As partners of the future king and queen, Prince William and the Princess of Wales are learning new things and testing their hobbies during their engagement.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that trying new things for the first time is a valuable life lesson that Kate is teaching Prince George, Charlotte and Louis.
But when it comes to Prince William’s motorcycle hobby, she doesn’t seem to want to see them follow in his footsteps. The Princess of Wales previously revealed she would be “horrified” and explained she wanted to avoid Prince George’s involvement.
During her first official visit to Dundee in 2015, Kate shared with Prince William her fear of him riding a motorbike. Although not a common sight, the eldest son of the royal family is said to have taken his motorcycle test at the age of 19.
Kate, wearing a powder blue coat, fresh, glowing make-up and rosy pink lips, spoke to fans outside the Dundee Rep theatre. According to Vanity Fair, Kate asked Prince William if he still rides motorcycles. “he still rides horses,” replied the current Princess of Wales. I’m always amazed whenever it comes out. I’m afraid. I wish I could stop George from doing something like that.”
So Prince William’s hobbies weren’t something he gave up immediately after having the baby, and his motorbikes left Kate “scared” for her safety. I was worried about my eldest son taking over this position.
Prince George was just two years old at the time, but his devoted mother expressed her desire to not “catch” her son on his father’s motorcycle, which was very fitting given Prince William’s safety concerns.
Princess Charlotte was five months old when Kate shared her thoughts on Prince William’s hobbies in Dundee. But if Kate is still scared of her motorcycle-riding husband, she might as well get Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to ride a motorcycle too.
Growing up can be easier said than done as the three Welsh boys are all very sporty and love to take part in new activities. But once they are old enough, Prince William may give up motorcycles altogether, especially knowing his wife’s concerns.
Heading to the Isle of Man for the 2018 TT, he admitted he has to “take it easy now” since becoming a father of three. He also admitted that when he told Kate he was going to the Isle of Man during the competition, she was a little skeptical about why he was going.
“really?”Now that he is the Prince of Wales and first in line to the throne, the risk of a potential motorcycle accident would have led him to give up riding.
But that’s not his only hobby, Kate also shares a love of rugby, which of course has been passed on to her children. I don't blame her. My husband lost his left arm over 50yrs ago and suffers terribly with phantom pains, which no one can help with. She is a sensible lady xx
