Hello all,

Recently, and by recently I mean 4AM binging of NY takeovers on YouTube, bike builds and such, I want to make a return to riding street and the occasional skatepark. The last time I rode was around 2019 and have since sold my daily rider.

I’m currently building an old frame I have since a freshie really isn’t in the budget rn. It’s a MuddyFox X-Ray and although I know plenty of people will tell me that it’s a terrible bike, I’m a stubborn guy and like to be different. Most of the parts that came off it are considered Old School and I’d like to bring it into 2024 without breaking the bank.

What sort of things can I do so that i enjoy my riding experience without having to do overtime shifts?

If all youre wanting to do is pedal around, I’d leave it as it is. Anything “bringing it into 2024” would be better off just buying something better.

  2. Actually riding this is a suicide mission. You can actually get hurt. 1pc cranks and 1 inch steerer tube is a no no, I assume they’re also old as fuck so that doesn’t help.

Save up a bit and buy a second hand, entry level complete from facebook marketplace. You are in no way going to enjoy riding this bike and it will put you off bmx for good.

  3. While I respect you wanting to be able to do your own thing, if budget is not the ONLY reason you’re riding this thing, is say leave it as is. This isn’t a heap and simply not with your time.

Edit: I’m not trying to be a dick. The amount of money you’d spend on a pair of cranks, and other parts to make this thing rideable would be no less than what you can get a low end modern complete bike for.
