I have had the bike for about two months. In an effort to find a more comfortable riding position, I have rotated the U-shaped handlebars back just a tiny bit and this meant that I had to loosen and rotate both shifters ever so slightly so I could continue to see the shift numbers.
Today, I pushed the three-speed shifter to the right and the entire shift mechanism itself shifted instead. A video is posted at the link below.
My bike store is closed until Wednesday. I have examined it under a bright light but don’t see anything I could do to fix this.

Looks like you didn’t sufficiently tighten the screws holding the shifter in place after you moved the handlebars.
It looks like the screw under your thumb is loose, don’t lose the screw.
loose screw? idk what u did exactly but likely u unscrew the wrong one. my bike is 3 years old and this never happened to me
