Irish Life Dublin Marathon – 2023
Yeah Now I’m n m CEO of the Irish life group as PR sponsor of the AR life dou Aran I’d like to wish everybody taking part today the very best of look a special shout out to all of you tuned in today it’s your cheers and encouragements to get your friends and family across the
Line welcome this morning to the Irish life Dublin Marathon 2023 conditions right now we’ve just had a little bit of drizzle it’s cleared up and it’s ideal running weather in my opinion I ran out the still Aran je carriageway this morning did Fosters Avenue arobic Road there isn’t a puff
Wind it’s ideal so on the start line today talk about the Irish national championships first off I think we have an overwhelming favorite in the women’s race in anry mlin we’ve had a late withdrawal of Courtney McGuire yesterday evening who would have been the defending champion and Marie has a PB of
229 she’s in great shape she won the Belfast half marathon in 114 a few weeks ago she’s G for this title she deserves this title it’s been a few years um she will have a contest in Gladis ganiel who will be trying to lower her f45 National
Record so we’ll be looking to to a great contest there and then there’s a few other uh a few other Irish athletes to name but a few but I think the two sub 240 girls are uh we’re looking at anry mcclin and um Gladis ganiel also both of
Them over 40 which uh makes me happy and then in the men’s race I think in terms of the Irish National Title we have Steven scolan on the line today he’s obviously our Irish National Record holder with a 209 Marathon H hasn’t done that for three years we have Ryan Cree
Who’s the fastest man on paper this year he’s a liler like myself so uh we’d be looking at at Ryan Ryan ran that his debut in Valencia in February to 1303 he’ll be looking to lower that today he’s going to go out with John Travers
10 Mile pace for 66 minutes and uh see how he feels then so he’s targeting at 212 today so I think that’s our our national championship um on paper we do have Ryan for site as well um H however I think in my opinion we’re looking at
Anary mcin and the women’s race with Gladis ganiel behind her and then we’ll be looking at Steven skulan and Ryan Cree I think Steven skulan is thinking of going out with the early Pacers with of a 207 208 so that’s that’s Saucy that that would be we could see a National
Record here today this is a fast course this is my second fastest marathon time ever was run in Dublin conditions are ideal running conditions I’d be delighted to be running in this especially given that like half of cork was washed away a few weeks ago this is
Ideal the nerves are starting I can see the elites they’re looking good they’re doing their strides they’re warming up the worst part for me personally and I I think for everybody H in terms of the nerves for the elites is the national anthem because if you’re Irish and
You’re looking for that National Title that’s going to almost tip you over the edge in terms of the nerves um and then you’re looking down the mile here and you’ve got thousands of people behind you 22,500 on the starting rostom today that’s an awful lot of people a awful
Lot of organization between the gardi and all of the the council and we have the Lord mayor here giving out the Lord mayor’s medal um that’s it in terms of the Irish athletes and then to talk I think our two defending Champions um nista and CH chuk I think we’ll probably
See both of them on top of the roster again today they’re both in very good form they both want it they know the course they’ve been here before I’ve seen them warming up they both look really fish they were talking good talk last night both saying they good runs up
And training so but interestingly one athlete that is I’m thrilled to see on the start line Florence kipat she’s a two-time Chicago Marathon winner two-time Berlin Marathon winner she two times broke the half marathon world record and actually interestingly I stood on a podium in second place to her
In Barcelona 2015 when she broke the world record and I pinned on her number that day I love Florence she’s been a stalwart of Athletics and it’s superb to see an athlete of that caliber um she’s 36 she’s not running as well as she used
To run um but she is here she’s Towing the line and it’s just brilliant to see someone like Florence k in a race like the Dublin Marathon um so we’re here Irish life doublin Marathon ready to go today Lizzy Lee there is Baum Kelly and brown and jgen by my side yeah we’re
Very excited to be here uh to watch this year’s Irish life Marathon uh great conditions out there filing um perfect to sa at this time of the year for americ so a lot of people ready to go um and and excited get on over the.2 miles
Same C and our drive over to the industrial estate here to get over to the studio and commentate and we can see our live pictur now and it is perfectly IDE for but regular faces on the scene sing Conroy pop of race there in the bright
Orange standing next to the fence to the far right of your screen yeah it’s it’s a serious um organization here today many Runners Elite and Elite and the the rest of the field well onto the so huge amount of organization um and and hopefully this Fant race in this year’s but
It’s rain overnight so kind of the temperature is ideal now and drive for for the next couple of hours obviously see the the wheelchairing off first and see onah as well he’s won the bright correct at one stage and a couple other very good run around yeah I the yellow t-shirt doesn’t
Look as bit as usual maybe he’s doing a bit of pace making this is our sub Elite field would be the elite the upper end Elite out later but again a lot of the familiar faces just far left the screen that’s James Crusaders always runs pretty every year c a good bunch of
Runners there in the F Crusaders might be doing a bit of pace uh newly not a newly founder the new and enough born child and I think I see on Ryan in the brain of over to the right in the wheelchair races you can see some of the sub El wheelchair
RAC who multiple winner just as we see our Elite Runners comped there as Lizzy Lee mentioned the far left is Anar for Sight there as well yeah I was looking at the the Elite field we’ve got it’s from from all over the world here mainfield the great favorite from last
Year’s champion at Toom Morocco he’s uh one last year P 20743 he’s also in that time earlier this year in really really good shape will be looking to try and break that course record his country back in 2019 of 208 460s with a shouted that like this
Morning1 minute half as well from 2019 so obviously a man in very very good shape uh here straight in front your in your um fakir EOP also 207 and he won the monster marath Championship in10 earlier last year moner in Germany being I was just thinking we have typo there verbal
Typo over the U there so that was in Germany but managed to win the Geneva Marathon as well in 2021 so he’s got couple of 207 to be name so he’ll be there there boats by the end of this as well other athletes in this field
Jeffree froma as well he’s a 208 man marathan back in 210 in good shape monso he’s got the fastest half 43 also been two national Ino so man in good shape um you’ve also got M there as well from from Kenya third in the M Amer last year in
2092 a lot of atlet in around 209 2078 of range you’re spotting a few guys on on the I think all the regulares here and then well describe some of the singlets to as well some of the elite athletes in terms of St SC isn’t wearing clubing he
Wearing as Under Armor there the elite Africans essentially they’ll be wearing their kit um the Pacer there K we’ve see Ryan for the red and yellow there new cast p in America um he’s R for the European cross some the we see Ryan cre there as Lizzy mentioned that is the
Famous leave out with the yellow and the horizontal as it were two black stripes your favorite Club yeah well favorite CL but after great Club andek is at least with a great story um and and hopefully we’ll see him amongst the higher up in the perhaps even in the
Elite field today for man two this year and3 also won the nation5 earlier this year so Le fastic back story he’s been I say for more seasons than he has been running competitively but what what a a gentle man and and I be one um person in the country
Who would like to see R run well today I’m sure has one person he’s offended could anyone no I remember he the European cross country a number of years when I did a the Irish examiner yeah he’s an absolute I he win that won the national cross I remember but he had
A good run and he had back story say he was in Lamar University just as Steven skulan um well known to many uh as a modern athlete using social media strs to uh maximize and earning income new year for that we saw even in the crossover in the fight game near
L wheelchairs will off ahead but scolan will be one of the more recognized Runners I think as as a result of was YouTu page and Instagram Etc we see sergeu there’s many Saw Works here um Serge is in the famous on singet there the black with the stri diagonally
Across the Amber black amber to mention again but Jim O’s front screen and the green and white Jack the purple hat are Irish life of course for our primary sponsor for the last number of years for the marathon and he has been a himself it’s a hard job keep everybody
Happy and he been keeping the sh the road there’s been a numbers have increased well over the years we had an article we’ve just been reading here just to get into the spirit of the Govern marathan John Tracy is going to Be Our Guest starter in it’s 30 years on
199 three that he won in the SP of his career and N Carol whoers of the race he basically got them to run to boost the race because the entries which might be starting now are down as 2000 now your EAS getting a sell out of 20,000 they
Could have a lot more it’s just really the cost of actually having more Runners with the roaders and G would and limits them the amount of numbers they have now so gearing up is dling here show is moving just like the athletes on the screen and again there’s a lot of
Regular faces just in the sub Elite category and like any major Marathon they’re going to start at the same time as our main Elite again Steven SC look out for him in the purple and the national race there and we have our leading Africans who will get a little
Bit more time I’m sure as they lead yeah and I suppose we to mention as well probably the biggest name that we’ve seen run in the marath recent years Florence so she’s the two-time Chicago marathon Champion she’s not on the left your screen there um just off the left
Of St SC she’s a two-time Berlin marathan Champion in 2013 she’s won the world half 2010 won the world cross 92 H the world record Mar having run 6509 um she she is 36 years of age now and would say that she’s pushing on a bit but wife also 36
But she’s in the uh the toilet of her career here terms of um but she’s around 21944 back9 in Berlin she be hoping to train run a quicker 26 from this Gold Coast Marathon back in July we got very very famous name circles and I don’t
Know if you know but her uncle Willi is also third in the Boston Marathon in 2001 so in that family there is well a lot of the like even locally normally follow a family tradition famous Kenyon name as well Kelly we can see it just to the left of
R Gary oan you’ll see there’s a lot of males try and tag on they’ll have their Pace charts we see three RADS back slightly salt and pepper now if I can say red singlet boing up and down Dave McCarthy will be one of our Pac makers
Uh for the day I think he’s going ping the women Lizzy Lee mentioned when she ran one of her World Records Barcelona she was in the same field that day um so again we have this our momentary pause leam Morgan is down there on the
Live he is there every year again it is that sense of community of family of a regular participants volunteers even people in the media every every little bit it’s small community even with that many numbers he can see some of the GS for the three-hour Mark but it’s just waiting
For the off will be gone through the rights of Passage the Angela spell and the ly swell as he start every year so conditions are perfect the runners are going the line will we have a fall start I yeah you could have it will it be disqualified if we get fall start be
Very after all the the preparation something to between the the elit sub Elites to kick off here reach almost going to be a full stter there already all the nerves left we’re off here in the 2023 Edition is under way F the warm of Life Is Life Life marath
KH H who wrote about the double Marathon many times let’s have a look at this human River before we get into our stff pack see things I see Daniel a former school boy one my uh one of my students many years ago didn’t realize he was the the Marathon this year best
Of luck to all of the atlet out there in the elite sub and general field so you see all these atlet are just like the elites who been preparing for this end and focusing something they certainly have in in common here have a lot in common around between
Yeah but they’ll all have in common over analysis yes yeah yeah absolutely and potentially not sticking to the plan of a set P um I was thinking about this last night a lot of Runners even the elite if you want to call them that potentially even for National medals
Here today to they’re not really racing as it were in a track race they’re setting time the go time as we were looking there today 230 is 543 a mile 3 33 kilom I think most people will move kilometer here uh older athletes are different generation we’d be more of a mile
Merchants but kilometer is coming into we’re going to try and Dove tail we’ll try our best we’re not greaters but certainly we try our best Withers as you can sh here I know what you’re saying kind of an element particularly in the double e field and behind that of setting yourself on to
That case I think is probably the best to approach American time see at least looks to be texting as he crosses there but we’ve got H river crossing the line they’re all very much concentrating on that one single Pace I racing we we don’t often see yeah and
Even just like in terms culture of the event and I saw alien Hooper dick Hooper’s daughter the first winner of the marathon back in 1980 and pre-time winner and just there and they saw Martin Kelly who’s one of 11 people who won every single up on marath so we can
See all these people here the Elite field um we potentially see Bley um are well bunched together and here we are here’s our pacemaker from Kenya Agri kitic he’s having a little look at the watch are they going to follow and we can see the Irish athletes there Ryan
Yellow and then Ryan fory J has been based start in Colorado now I think Seattle he is in the red and yellow of Newcastle Richard Rogers I think is still coach guiding him and then John Travers to the left another famous black and white sing of dinor highers is another
Pacer yeah certainly it’s great to see theuring so strongly here at St our way around by and he’s at least will be right I suspect here at the end of this St um we have our our bearings corrected great Citys start there um and as they move
Around here you see M through the like of these Georgian buildings here and out into the city so in general the marathon is C CER based then we move on towards in around the suburb walk turn your R and then around byce the oron back into the city so we’re just passing along
Here K Street upper and these at least will be passing the Kev Street G station and then moving our way towards church familiar with Kevin very large station landmar unlik um allegedly I think they are coming up to the uh willon might say the NTI section but uh you can see here be
Sitting on this start we will get a IDE of the exact pace for you in a moment but hopefully try and get a clock and we get a mile Mark as well have our own well on the go again as as you can see as I say they’re all bunched together
Fact that all the Irish are there right at the top means that it’s still a steady Pace the Africans sitting in behind yeah certainly and like you got SC there who has around 209 personal best back in 2020 he’s an athlete who his best can actually Mi it
Here at the front of this race now three years since he’s ran those times he’s here on the start line he’s as he said earlier he’s talking about M 208 go with the pace he’s really putting himself amongst it this morning and as are the other in the center of your shot John
Trevor just just to your left and rforce right there in the red and yellow yellow there in the very center of your shot will as we go field and there things out of it have a a chat about our athletes from from all over the world that
Are yeah I think even without a clock um we can see that they’re not a 207 PA but Ryan up there John barers is he’s looking at running as dizy said 66 minute pace I know she said it’s a quick course it’s a steady course I’ve run the
Course but it’s not fast I don’t stepen is g to run 207 or eight here today um and I’ll gladly eat my hat if he does but I don’t think he will there’s a lot of hills on the back end get around to UCD running 209 in London on a flat
Course on a loop course so um I don’t think that’s on the cards a good R under cards and as we see here hopefully just a great race really and long m last that we have a lot of the runners and the Irish Runners to the four mixing amongst
The elite and African Runners here today certainly as you see there in the back St Cathedral and uh we’re bit incline here Christ Church Cathedral there as well um so the atlet are very much in the midst of medieval Dublin here and but they will be going up this hill
Little bit of in passes every single morning those atlet will be up here and the pass which famously was uh built thees of King CIT you remember from kids the restaurant just to say I do not a restaurant as they’ve made a move there look to the women now shortly if we can
Now there’s been a bit of a surge was like a little bit of a POS the bike race there we we’ll all paddle together there cycle together and then we’ll get going and now we have some of our league fale it’s 116 that’s getet have LF from
Ethiopia and there is bit of an Ethiopian charge here amongst them are the some of the leading male uh Irish domestic atlet Carol F Mars there in the of your sha comes up and um just ahead of is Ben Brunton um coached by Shan toin as was
Courtney Maguire who I don’t think is running now today she’s been in and she’s been out but I think she’s definitely not in now today so scel will be the the not glad is G am MC is our national title red hot favorite on the odds I
Don’t the minus 1200s and the plus 1200s as the Americans like to go on their odds and might check in with a couple danig soour and Columbia are gambling in journalist statistics as I mentioned earlier there’s Dave mcer as written on his chest only enough um in their red aex singlet here so
He’s having a look he’s an experienced Runner he’s won medals European under 23 5,000 he was on the European cross under 23 Gold Medal winning team hopefully maybe someday we might get to see having one last crack at very talented athlete now moving into coach and he is should
Be an expert pacemaker we’ll see what happens but definitely very experienced Runner and he is as you like to see looking at the watch but also having a around anday attention van Bron again just yeah and you think with pacemakers it’s very important that they even though they set themselves to their
Human beings always likely to make error or two early couple DAV all that experience and that metomic pacing will look around just to make sure he not away from that Elite field come down the hill here ring out by the uh on their left the Brazen Head oldest PB Erland
Brazen Head and I think it’s city council then will be on there right and on the left shot which actually n Carol comes in again one of the one of the famous runner and then even more famous for his I suppose activity in athletics from uh being one of the co-founders of
The Irish life dou and marathon and that’s the merchant pop I’m actually slightly off that’s a bridge down for the city council but anyway we close enough and we see on Ry a former National mid a number of years ago in number 52 on the green
Of but uh we are in the cultural side of as theyo the phix par yeah they crossed over by user there this Elite men’s field and they are now moving their way to Smithfield it’s the only better area there as they which is I think reportedly one of the coolest areas to
Live in the world I think it was Pur Point like Barcelona and New York so hipster section exactly and flat perhaps in local EST but after the race as you see St there try field has just dropped off the back of this Elite men’s field here at the
Very very front all of the the major players who will we move through this field with a chat about the person likely winners from this field the Steven sculling has 15 back off this mfield as you can see there at the front of that he’s an atlete of great approv he is from
20996 Dubai Marathon PB in that PB of so definitely be here at the end points out there the back shot there main group yeah it’s going to be like the flying they fly V more of a straight line Mighty Ducks of the mighty Africans and uh St now in a supposed
Slightly uncomfortable position this early in the race that he’s isolat talking to Hugh Armstrong yesterday who’s the former National Medic in this event and when Steven skulan ran the fastest Irish T of two2 in the to three overall actually came through I think CL
Was one of the ones who was a bit more aggressive mive and they’re running for a while you do want company early doors it’s hard enough to run your own over any distance let alone the marathon so uh the leading Africans are right to the front and their right straight line now
Few broes out but still still pretty ideal condition yeah you can see there mention Kenya and behind then boy Chariot there kind of right green obviously we’re not going to be too worried about any gaps time but Pacemaker and got maybe a meter or so on
The Le field there which includ tuuk and the last year’s champion from Morocco but certainly it’s it’s not going to be exced here first still within the first here yeah good to see all the port L there that’ll be for the sub Elite Runners who had too much for a breakfast
Too much carbo loading beverages but um yeah Stephen skolion is obiously just at the back of the picture and that’s usin Grio mentioned a famous steeple Chaser on multiple world and Olympic Med so again there is Somey Le said at the outset of the show um just it’s great to see some
High quality Runners famous runners as they might say the swan song of their career yeah certainly and a name like get certainly is a is one a lot of Runners of any would recognize you know but there’s some fantastic runners in that field Mala John S Nash from Ethiopia as well as the
Previous mentioned so we’ve got some fantastic atlet all in around that kind of 220 and over range a lot of our Irish atlet kind of 227 on so OB Court not this and mcgan out for that national titles we have a couple of races winning races here the Elite field you’ve got your
Your sub Elite competing for national titles and then you obviously have lots andot of personal bestest and and person Triumph stories and disas there’s going to be a few disasters run well we have some kind of a momentary laps disaster um everybody’s feeling great they’re coming
Up towards the Phoenix park now and I think the first feed station’s coming up shortly uh we might hold the truck briefly and then we’ll try and get back to the women here now as you can see Dave McCarthy off on uh the potentially the next screen there handed out amongst
The the women who are being well it’s the modern years been sheltered by by the men and Prov with like the perfect scope I suppose to to run better and that’s the advantage I think for the women is getting well they don’t always do it right but get
Better pacemakers that are capable of um holding the pace basically here they are on our main screen uh Owen Ry right the official pacemaker red and it’s a good guide for some of them Lads to do that and we can just see I think more night is there
Ethiopia we’ve also got G Hab of Ethiopia there as well she blue Nike single there in that third in that women’s field you’ve got some fantastic female at Le there said surrounded by those Runners and pacemakers blessed are amongst men well as female distance Runners L is our defending Champion
2741 best time you can see her just there in the green and she’s wear the like f flies off with the pink trim on the S and black top in there season there just third with mcarthy McCarthy leading West wford yeah so it’s a really really high
Quality field there as as Move Along they we try and exact idea of time that they’re running that’s a bit of an inine all the way up there towards R the street on to North Road from better it’s probably not coming up as EAS on the
Screen there on the scam but it is certainly a a strong see there actually poting the direction of the for the at Le him we’re going to be turning left here now just superb Bas making and make sure he has those directly behind them he’s really taking
Care of them to him on on this uh on this road yeah it it sounds sounds ridiculous but it is true Runners when they’re in the zone will just run into the back it they can even miss the simple left turn so just a little bit of guidance keep them on
Track because they’re just going to be locked in on David heels yes he could it’s it’s very P pipes you ran the wrong direction there wouldn’t be anything any any notice direct as we see here the sub fields and sorry the the main field here being
About to be released here um the balloon not about to releas they will be attach sh next wave of the to 330 and I ow Ry there is many but Owen Flyn was in there green famous ref English had their 5K on earlier this year I’m sure
Few of the runners in the Irish Marathon might have Tak that in as a bit of speed workor the are big balloons 30 some jiggling and wling we’ve been eagle top there yes so they’re set in eager and ready to go and we’re all on
Our journey here to get the I think it’s pretty much one of the only races even as an elite athlete right down to the front back uh at least happy to finish you don’t you’re never happy just finishing an 800 so we’re we’re into the park here I
Think now uh Elite and we might just go across that because as entertaining as it is seeing those guys standing we get into them in the action they’re at the back of the zoo here now and uh you know in the autumn leaves are are are falling
Yeah certainly the Phoenix Park it’s a has its own climate on occasion and it has it certainly has plenty of up and downhills as we as we move through the field here you’ll see um these atlet will be moving um onto different roads on chest Avenue there eventually um too
Um and there are a lot of inlines and a lot of lot of left you know turns in this park so the largest national park in any world oh yes there all the techn urban park in Europe so it’s big and it’s certainly going to be put under a bit of pressure
Here f Avenue then go return briefly into the park through the that you know what steps of an incline decline hope deining few speed bumps as well all additional hazards Through The Years with healfy health and safy while hum been unable to drive at a reasonable pace and slowing the people down they
Are trying to gradually remove uh cars out of the park and make just really much more of a an area for physical activity and uh Sport and obviously the double and Marathon has played a huge role down through the years in terms of just the sense of yes lead Athletics down right
Down to the Walkers and the joggers and everybody else in between here our 2023 Dublin Marathon so said round there’re passing through def um polo grounds and they’re right out on the chville Avenue they certainly are and and as just Avenue is incredibly long and for these atlet feel like not too far
Because there down and the the rest will feel about 10 miles on as you see the the broom wagon there looking to jump in at this early stage all in F running well was normally a man drive the presss I’m not sure if he’s still driving I’ve
Requested that press bus a few times through the years and some formal think as I meant any I or and Frank Bry would have been amongst those other prev journ and former glories Brandon Mooney and Tom or and those that gone before us as well but as you say it’s quite long CH
Avenue even when you you think Pap cross which should be coming soon on the presidential Palace of Michael Higgins us ambassadors residents will be off left as well as they towards that Pap crft it certainly said Long Avenue into the leafy uh suburbs of C exactly yeah it’s a hot bed of running
About a thing um I think anyone who is a runner has at some stage been in the park so uh yeah it really is say the home we run to see Armstrong just on the right on the L doing his long run and he’s out for a watch getting inspiration
There are still people out in par horn their own running they going all these um Elites and non- Elites and I and I suppose the important here is that to see is that these atlet at least said that are becoming in later into Phoenix Mark we done an awful lot of
Their run Phoenix Mark over the last couple of months obviously haven’t the international field most of the domestic field will spent quite a lot time in the park and have good and bad memories yeah and I think that’s going to be a drummer I think we might be taking the earpiece
Correct at 30 second right now short so wheel e we’re sing into it quick nice Pace here in in the park and all the the elite athletes veryy much to the four here H Toom there last year’s Champion there in the blue Nike sing that they’re in for
Good fifth place kind of almost looks like third place there in your screen in those pink uh shoes and the PAC marker still working well the front Hussein then from Ethiopia there the 208 man just in that second place and just inside them then Brian H cauto sorry
Alicia K kimboy Chariot of Kenya then there as well the 209 Le um just on the right hand side of your shot there number 31 so um a fantastic field here that’s been um put together for this Irish life uh Dublin Marathon this year um and we should see an attack really on
That uh on that course record um and I suppose something to aim for as well for those uh Irish athletes in the the last couple of Miles as they was was there to get an idea of how they’re doing um and at what pace they’re on they should be
In around like 213 214 Pace but Fantastic Field here as the atlet kind of struggling a little bit with that roundabout there they were uh shocked I think by the the left hand turn there a little bit but the pacemaker now very much back on stream here you can see there we’ve come
Through we’re still on Chesterfield Avenue as we said the longest Avenue uh through the center of the park and in about maybe half a mile or so they will exit the park at the end and go into castl knock yeah it’s a good Two Mile
Stretch they Ed to have a race would be great if they got it back the Almond cup it was called run from gate to gate from the uh Castle KN gate right down to the city gate and uh these guys are going up uh the incline as it were and the race
Was in the decline so it was a nice Snappy race if you go the right way and uh you can always get faster splits in the park like G hland who’s former National Champion run theend always likes to go the other way to get a few quicker splits get the confidence
Going and yeah there’ll be a few more split UPS I think Hussein there is looking the most comfortable at the moment Alam are defending Champion they were just getting on a little bit of fluid so this split in the pack um could just be our beverage section and they’ll
Rejoin together but we will see it’s a great point at any station to I just see a lamb there touching clutching the hamstring just slightly there and he’s a little bit further back than you’d expect um so he’s just kind of cover and he’s stepped off the road there Alam our
Defending Champion just there at the bike section so yeah he did seem a little bit uncomfortable so he has now stopped is he going to get gone he’s half jogging there to try and get gone but in terms of winning this race if I
Was the boys and had a look back um and no in certain terms I’d bury him yes and ramp up the pace so we might just go across if we can to the women again as well if their screen is available now shortly there well into the park now as
Well um so with’ dur see on the move there has been Runners that uh there’s always a few bangers they somehow start early or appear out of the traps unfortunately uh as the bag of tat says there’s always one or 17 in the Dublin Marathon that uh don’t like to obey the
Rules but anyway they’ll be out of out of shot and uh Dave McCarthy is still doing a great job there on Flynn as he is is just behind the women there see our Crusaders Runner there they’re getting some good air time with verini Shamrock just in the background there as
Well and Ben brunon is hanging on to them but look at this steady flow that is our defending champion on the women’s side is looking a lot more comfortable than a lamb so we’ll be looking out again for John ktic ganet Abella in the blue wearing number 116 is looking very good
There as well again it’s very early doors to be saying who’s looking good and who’s not but you’re looking out for as much who’s looking bad or poorly because essentially we then find out a bit like a boxing match as well who actually has done the training they said
They’ve done and their 12we camp or their 14 16 weak block and who’s coming in with a cold or a hamstring strain and who’s hoping for the best even John Tracy as he said he came into the race it’s a if you have your pot of tea on or
Whatever your drink of choice at the moment and yesterday’s orangish times if you have it or can get online in or ear the back page has two good articles uh top article on female distance I get into that but John Tracy in this case
Came in and had a cold in a for a few days lead in and then it cleared on time so it’s never a perfect buildup as the as we see the bikes there with the lead woman and the crowds are only starting to dribble out they’ll be
Out in force for the main uh field as it were so David looking at the watch again watching out again as well for any Gap exactly yeah and any furniture There is a lot more furniture for the the bike paths and there’s been a few changes to the parks since coover
As well so we might get back to the men briefly um they’re well strung out anyway but the David McCarty doing a good job there and here we are back to Hussein he’s my as they say Advance him at the moment if you’re going to
L have a have an have an odds on on Hussein there he’s looking pretty good interestingly they’re not really wearing uh we don’t to hyper folks on the Super Shoes but they are we’re not going to do the full Tim Hutchings on it but in just in terms of Interest they’re not really
Wearing any Alpha flies I don’t see the the modern even the our Adidas Runner there um curo from Uganda he’s not wearing the latest ADH shoe of of course it is a fantastic shoe like all other shoes in the industry um but they’re generally wearing the vapor Flo no real
Alpha flies and yeah we have our in terms of our shoe Wars with the Adidas there and I think a kip run is the white singlet there I think that was fakir who you mentioned early earlier Ron and and uh they’re kind of going for your Vapor
FL trees and four so uh not a labor to point which I already am but they’re leaving the park and they’re coming into last KN round yeah I suppose the the kind of main uh interest just joining us is that tuuk Alam of Morocco the last year’s champion and uh one of the
Fastest athletes in the field uh a 207 athlete has dropped out uh we believe he pulled it a side there and clutching his hamstring um and then we have not seen him since so that means that husen here who is In fairness not actually going for those uh those gels or those water
Bottles everyone else is stopping for water and and they’re kind of losing that Gap every single time they haven’t hasn’t been a change in Pace that has dropped the rest of that field um but hin has not been going for the for for water um and that seems to be getting in
His Gap now as you said it’s very early for us to be deciding uh the winners and losers in this race but certainly Alam wasn’t but we can but we can’s going to win it no h think he is Alam very much uh he he wasn’t looking great and he
Never really came to four Hussein from the very very start here has been on that Pacemaker and has been um pretty much at the front of our screen the entire way through uh the race so far as we know start to enter uh the castle knock coming the gates that’ll be moving
Through uh Casten lock uh Village and then coming back around by the park and re-entering the park and then exiting into Chapel lizard but at the moment Hussein looks like he’s going to be the one uh leading them through all of these different areas um around the uh the
Suburbs of Dublin as we get moved our way back towards Fitz Williams Square in the end but at the moment still maybe 15 20 M that husin here has a gap on the athletes just behind yeah and just in terms of if you’re using your tracker
Some of them are now coming through the 10K Mark in terms of the National Field which we’ll have to do obviously more we might see can we get more cameras but Steven scolan is just slightly ahead of Ryan cree and Ryan Force South they went through 10K there they’re just over 5
Minute M so 3129 for Steven scoan through 10K an average of 504 Ryan for site 507 pace and um Ryan Cree 506 pace so basically they’re all well with they each to learn I think that’s going to be an excellent uh battle uh as we say we’ll see what terms of Fitness but
Hussein is leading here still and we’ve got one of our other atlet would get right up to him I think it’s fakir as I said in the the white singlet with the bit of pink trimming on it closing that Gap up to Hussein so there’ll be
Probably a little bit of f like a little bit of up and down testing each other out and obviously there’s I think there’s well over €100,000 Euro in prize money overall we get you down to the dollar bills and the fine Trends we won’t get into the tax returns and all
That and capital gains tax or whatever issues there are involved in that but uh easy to say there’s a sizable uh purse on offering that’s why these Runners are here and also the Dublin Marathon the Irish large du Marathon are looking to get up to to a bronze level
Label status we’ll get into a little bit of that as they pass Mayo’s Pub they’ve come into the center of cast Village and hung to left be gone back down toward past CAU college and down to furry Glenn we’ll head you back to our proper historian and geographer Mr Jer I
Wouldn’t say that now but yes 1,200 uh Euros for the the win here H today 12,000 I hope sorry 12,000 yeah they’re going to drop actually considering our Hefty fee here that unfortunately the race Pur has been reduced €1,000 for the win 75,000 for second and 6,000 for
Third and so on all the way back down to 12th Place um as well as many time bonuses as well particularly uh in terms of time bonuses for the Irish top three Irish places um getting sub 212 will’ll get you 5,000 for the Irish and sub 229
For the women so some time bonuses in offer for for the for the Irish atlet and it’s the straight up prize money for for our men and women at the elite end of the the field here so certainly uh plenty of of money on offer but also uh
The Prestige of winning the Dublin City Marathon uh which is now entering it’s I think we’re trying to work it out with with it’s the 80 it’s what 43 years since the first dou marathon but we’ve had 41 additions is that correct yeah so there’s John Travers pacent ran cree and
He’s getting the crowd into it lifting the hands it’s great to see it is an emotional race that you can see Steven skulling just ahead you want to try and get the energy of the crowd you have to be calm and composed not overly surge at
Any point but you know over the course of 26 miles as there’s Ryan for Scythe now in our red and yellow of Newcastle he is in third in the national race so you have to manage the emotions there’s going to be points where you even feel
Good and you might have muscular pain as we saw our defending Champion Al l in the hamstring calf cramps your usual potential summer cramps in terms of your fueling and taking it on board but we are back as I suppose was pre-ordained really in terms of our Elite field it’s
Going to be the our African quartet up the top yeah so bman kuto there number 32 just on the left hand side of your shot has now joined up at Hussein and we think that’s working a fakiri there from Ethiopia just on the right hand side of your shot so these athletes are
Operating at around 454 um a mile um and they are absolutely flying it as you might expect so really big field there um of atlet the four at least at the front here including the pacemaker and and obviously we have an idea then of the women’s Bas but couple
Atas dropping off there Alicia K uh Kip kemboy Chariot there in the yellow dropping behind this field so this seems to be a bit of a break here on but these uh four athletes um breaking away as the pacemaker just telling them to relax because it’s a long downhill section
Here so he’s just making sure that they’re not overworking themselves here working at fakir and um who say being the top two athletes in that group yeah I think going down it’s you know everybody worries about the the uphills but it’s the downhills where you can
Batter the quad muscles and get a lot of muscle soreness whereas uphill I suppose you learn your manners going up a hill either way but it does it’s not going to punish it uh I know there’s the famous Heartbreak Hill in Boston but it’s the downs and the ups that punished even
Elop chog and that one as we see curo here from Uganda just a little bit behind our lead M as we might get back then to the to the to the women now shortly and kazuro is a 208 at Leed he best was back in 2019 four years ago now
So 210 earlier this year in Madrid so back in April ran uh 21029 so obviously in good enough shape but certainly been made to to work pretty hard today and it’s a long race you don’t know how he’ll come back into it but he’s definitely the guts of 5060 M behind uh
The leader there the lead leading group at this stage so looks like he’s not going to be amongst the top uh few in this race today well Ashan Kelly might say it’s a long ways out and he did win that Madrid Marathon so you never know
But look I just think Hussein is looking particularly good Brian cabuto as we say he’s in the swans song of his career uh he’s he’s given it a go I wouldn’t think he’s going to to last the pace but you never know he might but uh they’re
Having a look around having a chat and discussing maybe the next section and the drinks section so our pacemaker again doing a good job there just trying to tell them just to calm down it’s early doors maybe he heard deshun Kelly of a long ways out in Swahili and he’s
Uh sorting it out amongst them that’s Agri ktic of Kenya yeah and and cauto there just on the left hand C shot he won the Copenhagen maritan there back in uh May in in 213 so a little bit off the the likes of Hussein in terms of uh personal
Bests but he certainly looks good here and if he’s you know allowing himself to be at the front of this field he he obviously knows that he’s in good enough shape yes uh Pat Hooper used to be in always in the lead car uh God RM and uh
Former great Marathon run would always say you want to always have a winner so he’s won a marathon as you say curo has won recently there Madrid so they are Hardy enough to probably go through the patches sustain a pace and see can they come back into it as we see are
Again our next wave here at the Irish life Dublin Marathon the the 4our balloons are there yeah and and as well bring K cauto there um that we were just mentioning that W copen he’s only 23 years of age um so he may actually be coming through
And improving as time goes on um so we’ll see how he gets on here as he progressed throughout this race so and at Le maybe with lots lots improve them but yes you can see the the 4our uh Marathon balloons um they have to hold those balloons them are they attached on
No just she just holding it there just out of next shot and uh if it is the young bman cuto don’t listen to me cuz I’m way off there’s another bran cuto who’s a steeple Chaser so we’ll wait and see and confirm which was correct but safe to say I’m more than likely
Wrong and um we’re back to the park and here our leading quartet obviously virtual leader is our Pacer Agri kitic of Kenya and we might get back to the women again there now uh sure and keep you up to speed with those lead fam again the the Irish life double
Marathon RAC tracker is always uh going to be your friend and your guide in terms of how different people are who might be at a camera shot it’s difficult to get everybody uh it doesn’t matter which level of a marathon Race you’re always only going to get a number
Because there’s only so many cameras and vehicles that can be up and down the road so they’re going through getting their drinks bit of generally the bit of water water looking for gels few high fives being dished out and Dave McCarthy in the red setting the pace The Matador here with the red
Leading the the elite women here yeah this was kind of give you an idea of the pace they’ve been setting throughout this they’ve been run that Elite group of women are running around 542 um a mile and which that that kind of 230 Pace at three um 333 a kilometer so these
Athletes are operating at an incredible Pace here I know it looks like they’re out for a nice easy jog the way they’re they’re the way they’re running here even through 10K but these athletes are absolutely flying it at a pace that most people couldn’t sustain for a mile never
Mind for 26 so 542 is is is a hot pace and D mccar has been leading them on that on Flynn as you said just there on the left from rat farham so a good uh section of of male Runners around these female Runners as well which will
Hopefully bring them all the way to the Finish yeah and I think they’re going to wind it up so David is chatting away to them there I don’t think he needs to talk to them too much now they they’re just focusing what they’re doing they can follow the course on
Flynn seems to have something under his singlet there probably a drinks belt or something but um yeah so they’re they’re cruising there as I say R and the women will be probably adopting more of a strategy of of increase in the pace throughout and we’ve seen that down
Through the years of the winners even in the elite mens they’ll start firing off faster miles in with even after 20 miles so the the the historic or inFAMOUS wall that’s that’s when they get cracking because they’re really kind of it is what they’re doing they’re
Racing for the prize when he on the top prizes so you’re going to wait until you can strike for home and save as much energy and these guys might run two three or four marathons a year so you want to try and save the energy there
And uh make the move and the time is right yeah certainly and as we know that kind of 20 mile market around Midtown that’s where there’s a bit of Hills as well so it’ll be it’ll get a bit more difficult for for all athletes at that stage H including the elite athletes
Which you can see 116 there is Genet habala of Ethiopia and we’ll just try and get an idea of who else we have um at the front of this field you can see melen there the last year’s champion from Ethiopia there just at the very very center of your shot so trying and
Get an idea of where Florence kipat is at the moment because I don’t see her on our screen there FM as we’re jumping from group to group to post yeah exact just kind of get an idea of where she is just in case she’s um pulled from that
Main group there or dropped off slightly but I can’t see her at to hand at the moment but a group of about six atlet there at very very front of that women’s field a dommin of figure just in terms of the national race um Anar mcin went
Through 10K 3620 so she’s averaging 551 a mile and uh looking good Gladis ganiel went through 10K 3727 so she’s running around 6 minute all 602 according to our Irish life Dublin Mar tracker if you haven’t downloaded it and you’re tuning in it’s definitely worthwh because it’ll give
You a lot of good information and you can follow multiple people along the way I’m sure a lot of you already have but it’s definitely the way to get the extras as we see another human River come through here yeah this was and and Marie mlin leading that domestic field at the
Moment um Gladius gelle in second and I think s Lan from uh from dinor harriers which I think is cir by handl she is in the third place at the moment and then she’s she’s going to be battling it out with a couple of atlet there like uh mcrai and McAn there
As well two other Irish athletes so plenty of Irish interest in that domestic race but it looks like according to the tracker anyway the Florence Kat has dropped off that main group she’s in around 15 seconds behind at 10K for those women so and be interesting to see how she gets on over
The last H couple of mons there see the main um kind of Sub sub uh mfield there entering into think I saw Kira Wilson there on she as the shot and we get the lads giv it given it large here another rahini Ana K I think that is there’s
Daniel Skully on the move from rahini as well so uh lots of them coming through that’s the left at myos there and nice waves this great crowds always in Castle KN and I think there’s a lot of I think it’s the thumber and road is the big mile drumming mile cheer section but
There’s great sections throughout the D marath they have all been inspired at different times to run the D Mar I remember when I ran my first one one of them was the old Italian 9 inspiration running in around there around cland and and Rialto and the famous scenes there
Around roundabouts there as we saw on the we’ve done some of those moves I think the Snapper or the van as it were so here they are enjoy joying their moment getting the bit of energy until they get into obviously there’s always the outp section great to see them engag
In the crowd the crowd are loving it they’re loving it they’ve done all this work and even if they haven’t done that much work they still they’re working now they’re working the crowd they’re working the crow they’re working the crowd exactly so here we are um still in
The Phoenix Park but they’re about to exit here at Chapel lizard and then hang a hard right this is a very tight section here with the uh they’ll be okay but you’ll see there that’s a tight gate and then some people start slipping through the and again the island there
So you can see that there’s a lot of little different things to negotiate there just to that section yeah in cycling pance it’s called Road Furniture so it’s all your uh random bits of uh traffic bumps and speed bumps and um and different lights and that kind of stuff
But yeah absolutely less so for the for the athletes than the cyclists but it can certainly cause a few issues and we’ve seen things like water uh water stations and that kind of thing cause problems in big major Mar in the past that that type of Road Furniture can cause ankle issues and
Also for one a better term pelvic issues yes as well so anyway they have negotiated there are our portal again and uh they have gone past it but just reminds me of bad fueling myself of too many bananas the night before there’ll be people who have decided to change
Their diet the day before like I have and then multiple spit pit stops have to be taken so it’s great that the double Marathon have allowed for for such uh expertise in preparation yeah and I suppose we’re coming into Chapel is here so we’ve passed um the church there
Which people would recognize they from the Jingle Bells 5K that’s where the dinor harriers clubhouses and their and their tracks so um a club that has great history with the do marathon but they’ll be coming across Chapel lizard Bridge here now very shortly and uh starting to
Make make their way up through b fers and walking Stone and and then making their way back in towards uh the rest of the city so it’s uh it’s certainly kind of we’re getting into you know 15 kilm in here and and uh the major the moving
Day as we’ll see we’ll see these at Le kind of changing um the changing in terms of who’s at the front of this and and really kind of see how fit they are now over the next couple of kilometers Hussein there still in second working a
Fakiri there in the right and cior shot we think and it is then bran kuto then just on the left and CER shot the Copenhagen Marathon winner earlier this year yes so we really are in running cultures section at the the Latin quarter of running each as you mentioned
The nor Harrier Clubhouse when they went through the park there was Civil Service harriers Clubhouse and they’re very near as well then to liy Valley and then just a lot of of atletics clubs in around um this section of Dublin and then of course as we mentioned all the people
That just trained the Phoenix Park from all the different atletics clubs throughout the country so uh yeah they’re coming around the back section here now and there’ll be a few more Hills there a few more inclines and the little juts coming up but yet Hussein just looks excellent anytime he seems to
Be able to open up a 10 m Gap relax and then they come back to him but he is looking uh very much on form at the moment yeah and certainly is a bit of a hilly section here as they make their way out of Chapel is it away from the
River um they’ve just as said crossed the Lea there when they come across the bridge and there’ll be that kind of uh incline back up into into Valley f it is is certainly going to test a few legs here as we see plenty of people out uh supporting today it’s normally in around
300,000 people out um supporting their uh friends and family and the elite athletes here in the double Marathon so um we’ll see them throughout the day particularly L later on uh in the race you’ll see huge crowds out on the on the street um it’s known as The Friendly
Marathon apparently um I believe the D Mar you didn’t find it very friendly did you around two hours something well that wasn’t very yet that wasn’t very friendly but that was of my own making and then uh got a little bit of help along the way uh as well getting
Encouragement I think well back into town and D mcder decided to encourage me and uh give me a Pat in the back it wasn’t very welcome you don’t want to be touched when you’re running a marathon remember Pat Hooper as well famous he
Said in a hot day a guy had a bucket of water and threw it threw it at him and and it nearly killed him so uh if there’s any supporters listening just stand to the side cheer them on and if you want you can potentially hold out
The bottle of water and let them decide uh what type of assistance they want and uh we’re back here in the park and we have our Elite female uh leaders amongst the the leading men there so Owen Flynn as we can see he’s lifted up a singlet and
There indeed is that he’s got a a fny pack of gels perhaps and Waters and and goodies maybe a packet of cookies and Cadbury’s buttons who knows other options are available as well no but looks to be a Gil In fairness to him but he’s it’s great to see that we’ve got
Three four at least they including the pacemaker Dave mccy H leading that female field out um at the moment so they’ve certainly got plenty of pacemakers here at the front either official or always yeah so there’s a favorite brand of uh said gels won’t fully mention them because I think
Everybody knows who they are and they’re not a sponsor of the Irish life to Marathon so we don’t need to but everyone knows who they are but essentially what is in the gel some of them have caffeine sodium bicarbonate and of course they have GL glucose in
Them so uh a little bit of water so you can basically make your own and uh the old school Runners would have had uh and what is it the Malto dextran I think the single chain sugar um Coca-Cola flat coke uh cold tea with with sugar kind of the old school
Section but certainly the fueling has advanced in terms of we saw Kelvin Kip him running two hours I know the shoes and other assistance but certainly fueling strategy has and been and better fueling in terms of that uh digestion has has helped a lot in terms of of
Helping when you get up to the 2hour mark so nice and relaxed there and the lead females now are just going down I think it’s that military Hill they’re essentially going in they going going down and there’s Ben bronton enjoying the scene and there’s the The
Lads running up the hill the back way around so plenty of cheering um in the Phoenix Park and they’re going to come out the section there at the chapel liard gate as well to said Road Furniture dogen yes exactly and I suppose the the thing issue you might
See here with this field as they come out towards that Chapel is the greatest there’s actually quite a large number of people there together so that will be uh interesting to see how they kind of maneuver around that that corner there as they enter into into chap lizard but
Great to see them all working together there and you can see Dave McCarty they’re the pacemaker at the front’s just uh looks in good form and chatting away so all these athletes still uh yet to feel the kind of the the negative side effects of the
Marathon here yeah I yeah not a fan of too much talking because it can it can have an impact later and you know there’s no point in talking and then the proverbial backside falls out of you you know what I mean uh some people but look some people like the talking keeps them
Motivated keeps them keeps them focused but uh I think generally the elite Runners as well uh if you ever running run with the Africans they like to run in silence you’re in the zone but it’s good to relay the information at the same time if you’re comfortable to be
Able to check in with people and as David’s doing there now he’s checking the watch checking the splits making sure he’s on course which is good and here’s a little bit of a move that’s just for the drink but nearly gone too fast and they’ve all come to a halt
There so again they’re grabbing a few of their drinks there number 116 as we mentioned already guinet Haba is looking pretty good here and again a number of the leading Club male athletes and I think we have that break as I said my pick for the Irish life dou
Marathon is away we might get that screen now shortly but he’s well away well not well away but husan uh will be coming into shot again he’s been looking like he’s dancing on the roads of Dublin and he’s gotten that Gap F which I looked up on the screen I’m pretty I’m
Pretty much 100% sure it’s him he was running operating at 454 mile Pace anyway operating at a solid Pace yeah and KET Hab as you mentioned just the female athlete it’s around 229 um that so that was in 2019 so she’s definitely an athlete well capable of of
Being amongst the winners in this race yeah I think she’s looking tight and then Mullen are defending Champion we might have one Runner to defend the title down through the years we’ve had some of them have been able to defend from time to time we’ll go through some
Of them are multiple winners Hal johannas is won multiple times and can mul add herself onto a multiple winner here yeah obviously dick Hooper and the men’s there three-time winner uh Christine Kennedy won two she’s won two titles back in the uh early 90s um and
Then obviously we as well saw kind of a spade of zakala won 2006 2007 and we also had a repeat from I ala Ivanova of Russia in the same years so we two the Russian winners repeating in 2006 and 2017 so plenty of repeat winners Joseph
Kemboy back in 97 and 98 as well in the men so uh certainly a race that uh attracts Runners back year after year yeah hus has had a look back there it’s just how comfortable he looks um you can just see in his face very relaxed everything is just Square
Solid and steady he’s just had a little glance back to look he’s not even at Full Throttle yet and he’s getting gaps and uh I think he’s well on his way here he just needs the pacemaker uh kitic who’s doing who has been doing a very
Good job even just in terms of being focused and setting the p T little hand gestures um so I think he’s well on course here to to progress for the top prize and bonus prizes as well but let’s see what happens but certainly he’s looking good he certainly is and you can
See there as we enter into around the Kil manum area there they should be taking a r uh shortly we’ll be coming by uh into um inore and and and up through the the rest of the city then but these athletes are at this stage about 20
Oh sorry longer than that about 200 me ahead of um our working ficar and bman capro so as they kind of take a right hand turn there you’ve got kill in him jail and uh you’ve got the the military grounds and that kind of stuff as well
As as we pass through this area so an area that certainly there’ll be plenty of running good running is they they’re going to come up towards a couple of Hills here in a few moments time he might be able to make an even bigger Gap
Back to those two atlet yeah so I think that they hang that uh left soon and go towards St James hospital and in around Rialto and some of the the other great sections of Dublin as say everyone has an ear that they recognize these different landmarks in Dublin through
Whether it be Italian 90 or whatever whatever it is and the people who have grown up in around the area here it’s always great for the mass participants and uh the lads here unpronounce themselves or give themselves a a tour of Dublin they certainly are yeah so
They kind of work it their way on kind of South circular Road and that kind of stuff shortly as well and uh very very old area so um plenty of of good running in though they hit St James’s hospital and start to kind of go up a couple of
Hills on their way out towards the mountains um and then taking a left then through walkinstown and crumlin and into the lakes of teror and and templeogue um and all the way along towards R eventually coming out towards still or and making their way towards the sea
Before taking another left so about 150 M of a lead here as you said Hussein just looks absolutely superb at this stage and has has done the entire way through the race even in the back of your shot there you can see the two athletes behind her working a lot harder
And and certainly look H to be even just in terms of style H husse looks or Hussein looks very very relaxed just in behind the pacemaker here and has never really looked under too much pressure no he’s just looking very calm and composed and that’s where you see like as we’re
Saying the preparation has been Supreme as we go back now to this uh Elite women’s field uh there’s defending Champion we can see yeah 116 is KET hella she’s she I said she won the an maritan back in 2019 so she’s ran some fantastic times over range distances all
The way down to um her good times over 3,000 MERS so and ATL who’s well capable over a range of distances there in the blue in the center Shot the uh the Ethiopian yeah hoe MCA uh of ethiop is there she’s in the black kit the Adidas
Strip and uh yeah the women still very much looking amongst themselves I say it’s a bit of a steady Sunday long run at the moment for them they’re they’re quite comfortable they just have to I just saw a hand flailing out there just have to as you say the road Furniture there’s a
Lot more speed bumps around Dublin and different things like that those little bumps can knock you out a sink and out of Kink as uh I think Ben Brunton is just trying to hang on to those lead women there so some of the the days in
The Sun for some of the lads there may now be coming to an end as dve McCarty is grinding well up that hill and just stretching them out yeah and certainly as we saw here with the man this is I’ve cycled up this hill you can see the uh
The cyclist there in the left hand side of your shot has actually seem to be struggling more than the the people running the marathon it is a very very steep incline there as we make our way out of Chapel is and into uh the Bley fit area um it’s certainly a bigger
Incline than you than you’d imagine H it looks like on screen there but David mccy smiling away uh obviously uh in good form as he gets to the top of the hill there but leading this field quite well um as you can see there just behind him that at least habala the ethopian
Just there in second place again abala um she is looking very good looking very relaxed and I know this this is H certainly winning her wheelhouse um hasn’t run that well over the last couple of years but um she looks to be in good uh fed there looks in looks
Quite relaxed as said Florence Kat has gone from that main women’s field here so and at least as we said 236 so far this year so not in the same shape as she would have been but certainly um a great name to have in the race but she’s
Out of this main women’s field so we’ll just keep an eye and get our Pace calculators out but through 20K now in uh 5933 for Kamal Hussein as I said he’s absolutely rolling uh F Ray work has gone through in 5954 so but just uhin there he’s operating now at 442 per mile
Pace there for the second I think it was 4 48 for the first 10K 442 for the second 454 and 446 and he’s now overall 448 for his average pace so 307 a k is five in at Mile so he’s he’s on the charge as I said he’s looking pretty good um we’ll
Get up our course record could be under threat of 208 um and change we’ll get the exact course record again there shortly 20806 and 208 flat would be 453 um a mile so we are certainly below that pace at the moment Now obiously Plenty to come but 453 a mile and at uh
We’ll get the kilm there as well my apologies at 20 km we’ be looking at uh 1 hour so he’s beneath that 5933 yeah yeah so he’s well well on ra Hedgehog 30 seconds inside the pace um for that uh course record today for um our friend husin from Ethiopia he’s certainly going
To be trying to break that record set by El gurri of Morocco in 2019 I think he’s well on course to do it as well um he’s just looking so good so we’re back at Castle knock here we’re back then again to Hussein here and uh pass the Burger
King sign don’t think he’ll fancy a burger just yet he’ll save that for later um yeah and then back again to Castle not great to see just everybody now working through this is a bit of a tough section they’ve come through the park it looks flat on
Your screens but they’ve climbed up all the way through the park and even there’s a climb into Castle KN now they’re getting to the left and then we’ll see the the dramatic downhill as we saw our Elite athletes doing that as well but here we are the crowds waving
And getting a little bit more MSB as we see there the bright green one of the local clubs as well and they’ve recently got a new track there in pest town and there’s tall SE balam and Anam so there they are R and gone through I’ll just
Try and see for another scroll as Hussein look at him he’s just looking top drawer he certainly is yeah like he’s as you can see he’s and personal best pace for himself here as well he’s on ran just outside the our course record here um he’s ran 20809 earlier
This year in Dubai finished sixth so he’s certainly in great shape and this will be personal well inside personal best pace for at the moment obviously plenty of miles and kilometers to go but to be running 30 seconds inside the record Pace at the moment we be I’m sure
He’ll be hoping um that he can sustain that all the way to the Finish but he’s just looking absolutely superb but then again he is a 208 marathoner so you would expect him to look superb turn he does to R right ah he does yeah and look
I’d say it’s a little bit cooler here in Dublin than it is in Dubai uh Ryan Cree has crossed 20K uh at 503 a mile and kamalin uh 6256 at halfway there so we’re really rolling there so Ryan Cree I think is now in the lead Aran as
My Pace chart or sorry our tracker is giving us updates Ryan for scth has come through then as well through the 20K marks I as I said to get really up to speed on all the runners throughout the race um as Fay working at working eight
F CR has come through in 63 just under 64 minutes through the halfway point as well so that’s our top two and I supposed to give you an idea there with Hussein in terms of what he’s running there in terms of the pace he’s come through the half or sorry come true that
20K in 5935 and 59 uh 29 would be 2053 pce now unlikely obviously to to end on that as they come up the Crumblin Road here and with plenty to go but he’s certainly got he’s banking a bit of time uh in the early miles which may not always end up
In a situation where we’ve got a a two five at the end but he’s certainly not holding back here in these early miles well times have been ripped to shreds in the last few years and he really is looking good of course we have what an
Hour or so to go and uh again just depends on how kitic does absolutely Top Class Pac making here um how long can he go will basically help dictate how far he can go but I still even think strangely enough he might even be able
To pick up a little bit but again let’s see though when he gets up by UCD and Brook and goes back up the top of the hill and then back down the hill and past or and all the rest so a bit to go there
But I think course record if you can get down to your local boies yeah yeah sensibly of course exactly into that you can certainly have a have a shot here as you pass all the ivy um buildings there on the right and side they were all
Built by uh the the Guinness family um back in the day um for the workers in the Guinness Factory so coming into along the crumlin road here this is a very long section and an uphill section as well um it’s a very very slight incline but it’s a long incline out of
Kind of crin um of sorry out of H the Kum area there all the way up the crumlin road and now they’ll be turning into to uh crumlin Village itself here at the very top of the of the road and around by walking Stone yeah sorry
Steven scolan still in the lead in The Irish race and running very well as well he’s averaging pace of 5 minutes per mile 62 minutes to 20K and the established projected finishing time is 21114 he went through halfway in 6537 but I suppose this is where the race is really going
To start coming to again to say 20 miles but really yeah after that first 70 80 minutes then we’ll really see who can push on yeah and as well as you R cre there not not uh about 45 seconds behind Steven SC decision that men’s uh domestic race as we see entering into
The area there that’s da McCarty at the front of this women’s field here he’s the pacemaker and he is working them up this hill and they’ll be turning left onto South Circle Road then at top of this hill so it is H it’s it’s a it’s a tougher section than you’d imagine
There as you can see where the cycle is just on the right hand side and we’ll be having a look there at our um lead Irish owners in a moment but you can just see this women’s Elite field here turning on to South circular Road and it’ll be a relatively flat
Section here uh for these athletes over the next um half a mile or so and making their way towards St james’ hospital um and then turning back out towards that uh crumlin area from there on yeah so we’ll be going back to the Irish shortly just in terms of the times that they’d
Like to hit in terms of the uh Olympics and championships um they’re getting on the rankings and the people I think in the top six here so they if they’re in the rankings at the end of January they will uh be officially uh in for the Olympics
And then that’ll leave the extra spots then I think there’s seven still remaining at the moment but there’ll be then the remainder of those spots will be open but if you’re within the the top 60 rankings by the end of January you’ll be in so in terms of a pace and to get
In there you kind of be wanting to be running maybe 209 210 in uh on the male side and have a half marathon time of 61 62 minutes to kind of get right into rankings and for the women you’re looking at 229 and 7172 minutes um it’s 208 low and
226 30 or 40 I think for the for the women outright standard which isn’t on for the women anyway and unless Steven SC can pick up considerably I don’t think he I don’t think he’ll get the straight up standard but he is running well as we said he went through 65 37 I
Don’t think he’s going to negative split a 63 or 62 here but what he wants to do is kind of maintain the pace there and that’ll certainly help with his rankings certainly I suppose just give you an idea of the domestic field there in the
Woms well Amry mlin um is in around a minute um just over a minute ahead of Glades canel um of North Bast carriers and then Circle lock now then another uh 45 seconds um to 50 seconds behind there so it’s about a minute between the first
Three and it’s going to be a good battle on for that third place between uh M and lman then for third place there about 35 seconds between them so it should be a good battle there for that domestic field in as well yeah it’s looking good so far and Amry mcglen she’s really
Coached by Emon leevy she’s looking for her first Women’s National Marathon T she’s had a very successful career I think she’s anyway just um doesn’t matter how old she’s a chenet diver uh it’s constantly referenc her age would be saying for I’m a runner I’m
In the field and as we can see men and women now are getting right right into their late 30s and into the 40s I think ages very much the number specially as we we get into the distance running territory so uh yeah in Ninth Place
Overall as well as I see have on the screen there for Anar mlan yeah certainly and she’s a PB of 229 from pulford in 2021 and plenty of great accolades throughout her career but looking for that first national title she won the Belfast half marathon early
This year and W 1453 as well so and at with plenty of accolades throughout her her care there the men’s domestic fiet leader there is Steven scolan yeah and he’s looking very good in the all purple there and his uh under arour spawn and he’s got a couple of lads
There it looks like that might be helping there or more he’s catching them rer and that’s going to give him confidence there catching up with the back markers as I said earlier he was isolated but now he’s caught up with mammo here and uh number 29 is AA Pila
The famous name of Ethiopia from your Ribas to your kenas um uh and your asfas even so uh he is right in the mix there as we can see it’s quite a heavy rain there but looks like the sun is coming through as well so we might call that a
Peral a mixed bag in terms of rain yeah show yeah scolan there he’s upating here around the 520 mile Pace H so he won’t be necessarily on that uh that sub to uh 10 will get the exact Pace in there but he is starting to make his way through
That field and starting to catch a few at Le now was bit of a bit of a gap up to um the the rest of those uh Kenyans and ugandans there um that are about a minute or so ahead and as you saw them coming up that crumbling Road H earlier
But scolan there is starting to lead that group and has passed mammo and B as I said he is about uh a minute sorry about 45 seconds ahead of Ryan cre so in terms of that domestic battle scolan in sec in first Ryan Cree of Lille in
Second and John Travers Who’s down as a pacemaker is about a second behind uh Ryan cre and then Ryan for Sight then um about another 20 seconds behind so we should see a serious battle there Jake o and Tim Odun who plenty of names that we’d know on the circuit hanging around
There um and certainly those atlet will be will be getting stuck in over the next H couple of miles we see here we’re starting to enter into the DM area the black Forge there on the left famous uh landmark in that area now um and uh scolan will be uh hopefully taking on
The the similar attitude over these couple of Miles here now that’s certainly a matter of conjecture um via Saudi Arabia and so we have scolan as I said and we’ll just see how those Pace correct if they’ve dropped down to these 520 mile Pace 514 Kamal Hussein 458 a
Mile uh K has obviously gone through a slow section so those luls and Pace might just be to where they are at that particular moment in time as Gary nille might say on the court certainly as well to mention there as well back in 19 um place as well we’ve got uh the
Athlete from Belgium Arie Atkin and his father actually won the marathon in 1983 um and he is back to support him so he’s back in 19th there he’s just behind some of the Elite field there he’s on 532 P um and he’s gone through the halfway in 109 so going well at this
Stage yeah and Anar mcglen has passed through the 20K Mark there and she’s 101 as her projected time to come through the halfway and she’s picking up the pace as well well so Amry has always been very good at trying to manage her pace and she’ll be trying to increase
Throughout the race just get a steady start and then go through and uh we’ve gotten some great shots here now air time of Steven skulan as we can try and be try and analyze the face the focus he’s looking pretty good here when Steven is on he’s on
So uh and he’s getting deep into the race now so he’s looking pretty good here now with Mamo and beila uh toim Mamo and AA beila two more Ethiopian so we have had a very large Ethiopian contingent in the orish Life D Marathon this year we might get back to
Some of our other Ethiopians in the women’s section amongst the Kenyans and uh the African charge as we’re on right on Q here we go having a little look at the watch Dave McCarthy just a couple of yards ahead and uh I think that’s Mersa there of Ethiopia just in the in the
Lead now and then 116 Genet Abella as we’ve seen in her dark blue top yeah SES there as well she’s ran 226 and she was the runner up in this year’s Stockholm Marathon so she is an atlete 25y atlet from Ethiopia who will be hopefully that’s her there in
Center your shot she’ll be amongst it here at the end and these athletes are operating in around that 225 uh region at the moment as DAV mcy the pacemaker steps off so these athletes now just just gone over halfway these athletes will be making the rest of their Journey
On their own um without the help of the pacemaker who’s done a fantastic job that was David mcy from West Waterford so it is Nish uh here 7358 uh I think at the halfway point there they’re operating at 552 Pace again some of those Paces we we might
Ignore on the tracker tracker will be up and down not sure if that’s 100% accurate um cuz they’re obviously on sub 30 Pace as well going through 73 58 to the run around 228 Pace uh and probably will be on course for a similar winning time from last year 2
2741 yeah certainly and I supp just to kind of keep it in the loop in terms of uh of how they’re getting on in terms of the the the record as well the record is 226 uh set by Tatiana arova in 2010 um the Russian atlet so that’s an H
Certainly a time that is not they’re not uncapable of iable of but they’re they’re they’re probably a little bit off it at the moment yeah but I think they can easily pick up so pan a jop there so we can see just at the back
There in the white/ gray of the uh Elite aex variety so we have Adidas Nike and aex in the mix there up the top yeah drop is a PB of 2298 okay she said that in this year as well in Cason in Spain so she finished second and that so certainly ATO well
Capable um and running well this year 6915 half marican PB from a couple years back as we see all sorts of Madness happening here as the athletes are moving around well they’re getting a little bit aggressive I think she’s not happy to be ped she’s ring over the road
But she basically nearly just knocked herself out on that uh uh number 3025 we find out who it is on the leaderboard I don’t think it’s Robert FR but anyway one of the other uh male participants and uh he nearly got cleaned out through no fault
Of his own and fairness sometimes the uh the male Runners can get in the way but he was minding his own business she’s not happy that the pace is obviously stalling and lulling hence the the uh track up might be correct and she doesn’t want to be doing the leading
They’re all sitting in as said they’re here for the purse but uh they wouldn’t mind getting the pace down a little bit because then there’s a a bigger pot obviously at hand as a prize so again certainly yeah maybe she’s did took uh serious you know issu with his uh his
Outfit there he’s wearing almost like a traton type uh type vest so he’s not quite a m a middle-aged man and like I think he’s no no still below below that area but um you see Joan K in for 25y old from Kenny there as well she’s around 239 uh in March
This year that’s her personal best and she’s certainly gone for well faster than that but that half Mar PB of 68 34 would suggest that she is going to run pretty well a lot faster uh titig seha who recently ran the world record in Berlin wasn’t 211 I think one of her
First marathons was 230 something but like she had a bad day so if that isn’t a typo on our notes even if it is 239 it could have you know you can’t read fully as much into the time and she’s looking pretty decent here and the half marathon
Time 6834 which certainly lead us to suggest she’s capable of a time and under 2 and 1/ half hours certainly and death where these atlet are tracking at the moment they’re in around that uh 226 to 228 range it’s hard to tell now the exactly with the trackers but these
Athletes are going well and will be not they’ll be within that wheelhouse of that that course record and as you said we could see these atlet in comparison to the men in particular uh the men were operating at a good Pace from pretty much a mile in whereas the women were
Kind of wouldn’t say Doling in the park but they certainly were within themselves uh in the park as we see Steven skulan there battling it out with mammo um in the in the streets here dancing in the streets at D David Bo and Co but uh I think M’s just gotten a
Little bit of ahead of him there and Beil is just sitting a little bit behind him uh just looked up our trusty tracker that’s George Raven Hall nearly got barnhall out of the way there um but gladus ganiel has cross shoot a halfway in 7817 so the tracker does a great job
Of the the drop in and outs and uh as our Irish M lead cyclist is also getting his fueling strategy on board here yes certainly is a it’s it’s not easy for the cyclist eater and particularly some of those Hills you can see you can re
Judge the inkline off uh how Square the pedling is uh for those cyclist but they’re coming along the uh Kim Road West there um just come off Cromwell forts Road and they’re working the way through the area of kimage or as some of the locals are now calling it
Kimage yeah I think I think everybody in Dublin is getting NOS at this stage in the world they’ve caught up with me anyway cuz I have multiple but Steven scolan has tipped his way back up to Mamo as we were saying and skulan is on he’s on
When he’s off he can be slightly off but he’s looking good um I think Olympic fervor and he’s 34 years of age now the Paris Olympics is Dawning you can’t be potting around forever so it can it can focus the mind and he’s looking very focused here as
Pila is offering MMO a little bit of a drink I think it’s Gatorade one of the must be it’s one of the local beverages of of the Irish doubling Marathon uh fueling stations but the El he’s given it a toss aside they’ve had enough and um yeah so scoan well on his
Way be great if we could get some camera shot of uh anarie mcglen at some stage do our best that’ll be possible at Cen scolan is well up the field as well uh we’ll get our overall leaderboard here for you as well yeah it’s great to see Irish
Atlet like Steven scolan uh being so competitive in the double Marathon here it’s obviously it’s fantastic to to see the the Elite field and the international field but when we have an Irish atlete H amongst that international field it’s even better so he’s currently in eighth place overall
In the race um he about 2 minutes 40 behind the leader uh which still is Kamal Hussein who’s obviously in flying along here in terms of his Pace um judgment you see some of the uh the other athletes uh at the start of the race here working their way through and
Then they’re very early on in the race at this at this point H but still full of uh full of enthusiasm as the messages are coming in you can comment on YouTube as well get some in our earpiece if there’s any comments of note that we should be
Aware uh in terms of encouragement support and information we got a text in here as well scoan looks on song today so some of the atletics outs are firing messages in um but but scul in eighth at the moment and Well on his
Way as I say Turn 2 10 to 11 finish yeah and he’s still about a minute ahead of Ryan Cree as well who’s obviously running very well this year and uh in very good shape having R 21303 uh earlier this year um bit off the personal best of Steven sculling here
You can see directly Center of your shot but um certainly um good battle on in then between Ryan cree and uh Ryan for sight there’s about 20 seconds between them between second and third in this domestic Race So sculling looks like he’s has the domestic title H in the
Back pocket at the moment and and the gloves are off or the arm sleeves are off just one he’s got Michael Jackson on us here he’s got one one glove still on I suppose one at a time when you’re when you are running far and um it’s handy
Just to be able to take things off feel a little bit lighter maybe he’s thinking I’ll just get a little bit lighter on one side drag this out maybe another mile or two just to keep freshening up CU obviously and we hope not anyway he’s going to keep the singlet and shorts on
You know this isn’t the end not much more to go here it only happens when AC Milan win the scet or the fans run on and rip the jerseys and shorts after them but uh maybe we can wait till the finish line for uh the Ultras of Stevens
Scolan fan club can acquire the uh Nifty purple certainly he’s just passed Alicia Kip kemboy Chariot there as we pass on to Wi Road and he removes yet another item of clothing so um at this rate we’ll be in trouble but uh scolan is absolutely flying it there and passing
Some of the back markers he’s now up the seventh place and we’re making our way there into the teror area so you’ll see kind of a fairly straight section there shortly through Bushy Park and around terer college and then it’ll start to make its way uh downhill then towards
The sea towards the oron so there we will eventually hit a bit of hills in around Midtown but at this moment time plenty of um people out supporting the dou marathon as well you can see there on the streets terer and Steven sculling catch another Runner there’s Steven sing
Ultra texting me he’s predicting that he thinks he might come through even for a top three so wouldn’t that be wonderful he’s been top three before overall he’s looking for a national Marathon title and just basically looking for a great run as we’re back with the masses here we see some R ho
Singlets and multiple different colors shapes and sizes and this is what it’s all about as well and and all these participants and their entry fees obviously contribute to the uh help with the prize pot as well and the great sponsorship of Irish life at this 2023 Dublin Marathon we said John Tracy was
Our official starter and he would enjoy um an excellent he would love to our screen just came down there Sor I got caught off guard there slightly but we’re going to be back up but Steven would love to have that type of a moment of fulfillment as John Trac was saying
About imagine if he could get up now he’s not going to win today unfortunately but um Canal is looking far too good we might get actually get a camera up to him at some stage as well make sure all is well up there he’s du to pass the 30k Mark at
10:14 a.m. which is 5 minutes by various clocks brish Meridian time I think we’re on we’re off the British summertime now we’re on to overnight there we gained an extra hour of sleep not that it’s helped our abilities today but it’s uh it certainly was welcome this morning as we
See the atlet start to make their way across the liy there and these this part of the field and they’re they’re not too far into it yet so I said plenty of enthusiasm so far as they’re crossing over the the liy and making their way into chap but they’ll be hitting that H
Hill that we saw H the Elite field hit earlier on coming into belly fit which the elites dealt with pretty well the non- elites May struggle with that great big hill of hope there’ll be hoping for is that Kate Bush I’m not sure and running up that hill I believe yes
Running up that hill yeah we can get them all gone but Steven skulling there having a glance at the watch I think he’s looking good feeling good some of that’s just psychological I think and here we go ask and you shall receive here is Anar mcclin she is going for her
First national title really that’ll be the main number one go for obviously run as fast as possible finish as high up as possible and bag some of that uh cash absolutely sweet sweet cash run for fun dash for cash and she is doing both at the moment and she looks focused
She looks controlled as we said uh Emon Levy coaching her he’s had a few near Miss Misty Olympics the last Olympics just by um matter of seconds or less half half a minute maybe and look at that she’s getting the encouragement from some of the kids there giving them
A high five she’s getting motivated she’s in the zone and uh it’s great to see another smile if you use the crowd it’s a slight distraction you stay in your you stay in your groove stay in your movement and great to have a I think it’s a clan Runner besid her uh
Runner with whether helping her out whether it was uh pre pre-planned or but a lot of these Journeys as right down through the field you end up running with people end up talking to them or running together and you form even a sometimes even just a silent Bond of grinding it out together
Yeah and that I’m just passing the walkington round there as well so famous obviously for the uh Jack Charlton Italian 90s celebrations on the Walking Town round B and also probably one of the most feared places in Dublin as it say it’s like the champ or the AR tree
I’m sorry it has about nine different exits so it’s a terrifying roundabout to take on but luckily today it has uh it’s much easier about to say you’re passing skir verion it’s a it’s a terrifying place to walk on round about but uh certainly andan had no issue with it
This morning there she’s just just inside 240 uh Pace as well so she’ll be hoping to run um a decent race here that 239 um would be certainly well outside her personal best but it’s not about personal best forland today it’s certainly about trying to win that
National Title big time yeah and as you’re saying there you’re hoping that these landmarks provide your inspiration I remember when I was running going by that roundabout there that famous scene at the Italian 90s scene it gives you a little bit of Goosebumps and there’s different areas and different landmarks
For all the runners well obviously somebody who’s more than likely lived in Ireland or some uh connection properly to the country unless they’re uh Irish historians maybe uh uh Kamal Hussein is an Irish historian he’s taking in such uh fantastic uh views as well but I think he is purely
Focused on the watch and uh getting rolling here so andry mlin still on our main screen I look up number 3043 he’s doing a stle job we saw George ravenal uh coming into his 5 Seconds of f when he’s nearly cleared out by the elite females yeah Raven Hall was that was
Probably my moment so far where he was his day was a interrupted by the elite females but certainly here this atlete is is helping Amy mlin through this uh this section officially named as per section H category M45 number 3043 Newbridge AC Gavin Kelly I thought that
Was a clan singlet but might be wrong he sound we might could up anyway he’s not the St of the show on Maria mcclanes and she is very much firmly in her letter Kenny Club Singler Steven scolan uh we should mention is a clown of harri
Member as well so Clan left harriers are looking good for that and then obviously he might be Happ to the team title and Amar mcglinn letter Kenley generally do have a few good women’s runners in the team event as well so certainly and there are team prizes as well um for the
For that group so there will be this ,200 on offer for the uh the team winner as well but you’re right Gavin Kelly there he was having a little chat with Emy you wonder if it’s like the cyclist when they gift each other stages and that kind of stuff is he saying look
You’re you’re about to make a couple of grand here now from this would you mind you know I’ll bring you all the way to the Finish you quit well he’s now got Rivals here they’ve overheard the conversations as well I think I can uh do a little bit better than that but no
Look she’s looking strong I think she’s looking pretty fit I think she’s going to keep progressing throughout the uh the race and uh we’ll just try and see what uh what is her overall here now she was actually in seventh place there we’re just passing the ashleaf shopping
Center uh there on the right so they’re making their way along through uh crumlin Village there and we see back in the elite mfield here our P just past 30k and 129 and there goes to p and now he’s out in his own he’s on the move and he’s going
To as well Express himself further on the streets of Dublin and it’s going to be an ultimate solo job certainly and he’s sing now in Orwell uh in the Orwell area there in R G I think um at the moment so he’s flying down there it’s
One of the uh roads on the Monopoly board so it’s a it’s quite a currious surroundings yeah very good it’s re season and there was plenty of celebrities if there’s any celebrities on the streets of double are watching the YouTube stream make yourself known
We can give you the shout out we can get the earpiece on the YouTube but it’s uh the star of Dublin dick Hooper was inspired uh to run the Dublin marathon when Bill Rogers became Boston Billy winning multiple Dublin or Boston marathons as it were that was his
Inspiration now we’re looking at the the hero for day so far Kamal Hussein and look at the bikes just look at him on top of the pedals dancing on the pedals and as Hussein is dancing on the street you can see the the pace of the bikes
Gives a nicer indication of how fast and sweetly he’s moving look at the hips very little um it just one square steady very fluid and steady around the shoulders there and uh he is looking Supreme as he’s gone down this downhill section so kerti has dropped out that he has
Done an excellent Pace job he’s earned his corn and his bread and butter and ugali if he want some on top today he certainly did and you could see even just in terms of not only just the pace he was running at but also he was constantly chatting to the the athletes
When he come up to the different sections and corners and that kind of stuff so he was almost likeing Cool Runnings he he might have been sitting in the bath doing his left and right turns H as D banic did as the driver there but he he certainly knew the
Course and and was chatting all the way through uh to Hussein s’s just gone by um coming down towards the dropping well here atlet would know this the Midtown area here coming up by Alexander College here on the on the left as well so he has the daughter River on his right um
And he’s going to be making his way downhill here H in this section but we’ll be starting to hit a few Hills here now as he makes his way back up towards thean yeah and just as I got in a message and also I was thinking that
He he’s projected now for sub 206 20558 the man is flying and he doesn’t look like slowing down at all as I said he’s looked pretty much golden from the gun yeah certainly and and we obviously were aware of the uh the record Being set by
El gurri of Morocco 2086 and we were chatting about whether it would be under threat today we didn’t think it would be H we said it would might be just maybe just broken but at the moment Hussein is going to absolutely smash that record he’s moving the Dublin Marathon into a
Different Stratosphere in terms of times and um Lizzy Lee in fness said at at the outset that it’s a pretty quick course I don’t think it’s it’s well it clearly isn’t as quick as as Berlin and some of the some of the other ones we’ve you’ve seen here multiple twists and turns and
Ups and downs but there’s still enough running good running in it to get rolling and on for a sub 206 here Kamal Hussein it’s going to be a pretty massive run and uh Amry mlin is right on our screen right on Q we have our Irish
Lead woman bike there flashing and uh as we said she she’s gathered more company here with the two Lads certainly and it was just on that Benfield there in terms of you’re saying with the the pace um these atlet all those athletes are well inside even the atlet in third and
Fourth curo of Uganda is running 459 so he’s projected finish will also be well inside the previous records so plenty of H great action here but this is the the lead runner in the women’s domestic field she’s also seventh overall and she’s projected just inside that 240 uh
Range at the moment but um a really really good race from her and she’s well out in her own now she’s almost 2 minutes ahead of Glades gel and uh there three minutes back to S loock N three uh about 40 seconds back to our fourth place finisher at the moment mcgi so
Certainly um a good battle on domestic field but Amry rlin is certainly out on her own here as they come along through kimage um and they’ll be making their way uh to the right now uh very shortly and starting to go into that turnure area yeah Sean m akland is number 4175
He’s amongst the company looking to see can he negotiate prior to the prize pot there so um we’re just going to go through here the 30k mark uh Steven skulan has passed as well and um he is projected finish is 2137 which would be another I suppose Irish if you want to
Call it course record of the fastest Irishman he already holds it hav run 212 here before so he is gone not nicely indeed and uh we’ll wait then for see does Ryan cre and for South come through Ryan for sou running pretty well so 66 52 he was through halfway so you’re
Technically talking 67 so you’re talking 214 15 and might even slow down so Ryan Cree has come through now 30k point he is still on for 21319 so he could be on for a PB or there thereabouts as we are back on the nice section now back to Anar mcglen
Gavin Kelly still leading that charge the prize pot here up amongst the the men leading and Mar McLean and we can see there just so we’re going to be seeing shortly the men’s leader as well so he’s absolutely flying who said should be well on course for a course
Record to see ad mlin there is making our way down there we have our course future course record he just come up over the Midtown Hill there uh passing wild and green on the left and he’s going to be making his way along of kind of a flat section here before there’s a
Little bit of a drop um kind of a winding drop as they make their way down towards the randler area so we will see our screen there you can see there’s a bit of rain get jumping up there from the the road as well so it is a still cool conditions
Out there for who said he is absolutely flying here we should see him smashing the course record coming up to our wheelchair finish I’m predicting this could be p manahan and uh he just dipped under and it is Patrick man I think this might be
His seventh time to win it um he’s won a lot of times so Patrick mon is there there’s laen Carr just giving her giving him the Irish life uh Dublin Marathon tell as it were I can see Dave is show lean down from Sports fall so
Sports fall will be one of the main photographers here info photography as well there’ll be firing out all the uh photos of the day out of on to obviously the Dublin Marathon social media challenge make sure to follow Facebook Instagram X as it were now and I’m sure
They probably have not with all but Tik Tock and a few others but here is Kamal Hussein we’re going to get some of the digits for p monit and there the Irish par Olympic athlete who’s uh going to be going to Paris later uh well not later in the summer in
2024 he’s at least a two-time par Olympian as well so yeah he six time winner of the the Dublin Marathon as well this is he seventh now this morning yeah and he was competing against Sean Frame as well the Comm game silver medalist who recently said a personal
Best of one 31 in Berlin so great battle on there in that wheelchair race but back here to the men’s Elite field and Hussein is in a field of his own this morning oh he is uh yeah he was looking good even early doors in the Phoenix Park and uh yes he’s
All in Splendid isolation I think John Tracy uh just to go back to that article was good one in the orange times um basy was gone lovely he he knows he’s got this in the bag now John I think had a little bit of a muscular issue in haming
So baring any kind of musular issues he still has so much in the bag he can just take back a touch if he does encounter any late difficulties yeah and certainly even just terms of that Elite men’s race there at curo at the Ugandan is in third
Place but he is well off Hussein at this stage he’s he’s projected finish in around 208 uh 22 and Hussein’s projected finish is going to be 205 58 so he’ll smashed that course record so as you’re saying Hussein has a little bit to play with if he does in fact encounter any
Issues over the the final uh six or seven miles he’ll start to if he does start to feel anything he has a little bit of time to play with there we can see we’ll see shortly H him at the start he’s I said Splender isolation about 2
Minutes of a lead in this Irish life uh Dublin Marathon here in 2023 he he is looking like he’s going to be h a w our winner and setting a massive course record um yeah so we have our leaders here on the screen again that’s who say um he is
Flying it along here he’s just coming down through that uh ran area here and he is it’s all bit of a downhill section here and he is flying along at this moment in time as say expected set a huge course record here today yes there’s no slowing down and even youur
Is in 30 he is actually second just cuz the the tracker won’t come up until 40K so Hussein first curu second karuto in third work in fifth sang in Sixth and Steven skulan sorry skulan is in sixth overall Just Adjust those numbers if you’re looking at the leader board like
Ourselves that’ll be adjusted at 40K and skulan uh I think he could be catching more of these guys as well anyway yeah you can see looks like he’s blown up scan’s pace even over that from from halfway to to 30k he’s certainly one that’s that’s certain to to push on a
Little bit more and his pace is increasing as the or he’s increasing in Pace as the marathon progresses where as the likes to working there K Benjamin cauto or ban cuto and matu sang will presumably start to move back towards him as as as he gets along there but
He’s flying it at the moment is Steven skulan and he’s well ahead of um Ryan Cree about a minute or so ahead of Ryan Cree at the moment moment so I think we have potentially another finisher coming to the uh doubl marathon and the wheelchair section not sure we’ll see is that going
To come but yeah I think are we moving right into the South County Council look at the quality of that t Mar there now we could be in yeah massive Prime uh Dublin South Dublin County Council area yeah he’s coming down out tolansky there and moving in towards the storegon road
So H certainly getting into uh some lovely surrounds here he’ll he’ll be looking around wondering where he can spell spend his prize money and his course record money perhaps uh later this evening so he’s uh he’s flying along here and you can see still very
Very much in control and low uh kind of arm Carriage there and working really really well but looks incredibly relaxed and it looks almost as relaxed as he did in the early miles he does a little bit of a puff of the cheeks there he’s probably getting into the uh working
Section this is the uh what would you call it the Elliot kog potential smile section just relax the body he’ll be working hard there a little bit harder now as we’re suppose aren’t we coming up to UCD and the likes are the back of it yeah we’re in around that section there
And you can to get onto a nice straight section in around in around the uh storan road but we’re going to go across to our Lizzy Lee here as well at the finishing she’s going to be giving us uh having a chat with our marathon uh finishers and
Giving us an idea what things that race so far here at an electric Finish Line of the Irish life Dublin marathon where it looks like the men’s race overall is sewn up but looking at that clock it looks like we’re we’re on for a course record Kamal hassin who has a PB from
The Dubai double Mar or Dubai Marathon which he won in February of 2089 looks like he’s going to smash the 2086 course record shortly he’s on his own he looks really good he’s bouncing off the road he’s looked really good from the start and it looks to me like
He’s actually picking up the pace so that’s where we are in the overall men’s race in the overall women’s race we’ve got five women in the mix it’s not going to be a course record they’re tracking to 228 the defending Champion Nest Mulan is in the mix there and it’s anybody’s
Race at this point I would bet my house that on robok road when they hit that Hill that that’s going to sort the the women for the girls in that race in the Irish national championships stepen skulan has about a 72 lead on Lil’s Ryan Cree so he’s looking really good in the
Men’s race and he he’s he looks also like he’s picking it up and then Ryan forite is in third in the women’s race it’s Anar mcglinn on her own um she’s looking like a 233 somewhere between 233 234 right now she looks really good on the camera she’s on her own actually and
Then gladus ganiel is a few minutes back and definitely tracking to break the f45 National Record there for gladus um and circle Lan there’re in third right now so it’s a brilliant day the weather is the sun is coming out it’s clear it’s dried up H it’s superb and we’re just
Just standing here waiting for the winner of the Irish life double Marathon waiting for the winner of the Irish life double [Applause] Marathon so brilliant uh from Lizzy there great synopsis of of the race so far and and giving us an idea of of I suppose of her predictions and in and as
A a former uh as sorry not a former Olympian I always crit other people when they say that an Olympian in the marathon so an at least who certainly knows her stuff here but she knows that Hussein as clear as day to anyone whether they ran a marathon or not or Ry
At all that he is the class of this field and is absolutely steaming down the road here how did James coaches get there it’s it’s a great achievement to have some of these people decide to do such Maneuvers and get there along the way but uh there’s
No uh stopping hin I don’t think even the proverbial bus can stop this man now yeah he’s absolutely flying there you can see even in terms of H stopping at the for water and that kind of stuff throughout the race or Gils haven’t really seen obviously we’re not always
Keeping an eye on Hussein but he he didn’t seem to very regularly go for water or go for for jails either um and he’s just been purely concentrating on uh you know setting this incredible Pace I going to say just purely concentrating on smashing yeah I was I didn’t want to
Say it I didn’t want to to you know give the like you know the likes of our our good friend Steven Scully and or any the rest of the Midfield the curo but he’s absolutely smashing this field uh at the moment and there’s no doubt about that
You know to call it spade a spade yeah and a shovel a shovel um so uh yeah now there he goes he got a and he’s knocked one over I’ve heard this before now one of the guys yeah okay good good good uh drinks person there sometimes it has
Been a tactic apparently you can try and wipe out the other people’s drinks by accidentally and we did see it famously and one I think one of the athletes literally I think it was a French athlete literally had his hand and he swiped all the elite off and then oh and
Then was able to pick his knock everyone else off that was a pure accident there and it was good to see uh the common sense there pick the bottle up and put it back now so there is one of our said uh branded I’d say it’s an i’ say it
Begins with an a letter M uh Black Label gel ends with an N Martin is the uh brand of choice really um but again essentially the sodium bicarbonate in some of in in some of them there’s caffeine and then you’ve just got your carbohydrate and your your sugars and a
Bit of say the iso gel just means it’s uh got the water in it to to help and sometimes you can get thick gels which don’t have the iso in them yeah we see here our main field coming through the COK area but we’ll be seeing our women’s
Field herez we’ve seen a bit of a a change in the women’s field they were very much working together as a as a large group and we didn’t really see much of a gap at all uh between them but we can see here the athletes have
Decided to put a little bit of pressure on coming down the Orwell Road here so um it is at the moment and we’ve got kibit and Mal molan last year’s winner there in third and in the lead there Nash n suros our uh we have to work on
Our Ethiopian pronunciations we’ve got a 12 months till next year and uh I don’t have that many excuses haven’t coached uh heo also hasso in a former life but um yeah they’re right in there and then ktic is in there that you had mentioned there earlier on 6834 PB and if as
Correct PR not it’s 23950 she’s going to smash that uh Marathon PB she was fourth in the Verona half marathon as well she certainly is and yeah you can see there as well you’ve got um hella as well the athlete from uh from Ethiopia there in
The blue singlet uh she is we said our personal best was set in Anese in France in 2019 um that was a 229 so she’s not too far off her personal best but she’s amongst athletes here that would be H certainly a faster personal best than
Her but she’ll be hoping to to be amongst the mix and this could be her breakthrough race here today all very evenly matched yeah we saw uh Kamal Hussein come through this section yeah just to see it again with more runs I can see uh Kier on uh name case just you
Can see the star to see that’s it correct just behind those Elite female so a good domestic male always tries to keep up with the elite f as it’s kind of like a measure of your your your ranking and being at decent National level so
These women are very like even on the p PBS they’re all very evenly match and some of them kind of inexperienced are just getting into their second Marathon might have had a great first one but all have Stellar half marathon PBS so uh yeah they’re just rolling down this hill
And that is uh sarom Nash I think she has a PB of 22640 from Dubai in February yeah she was thrown up in the 2023 Stockholm Marathon as well so as I said 226 would put her well AV well ahead of habala there and even ahead of
Last year’s winner uh moleno from uh Ethiopia as well but they’ll certainly be uh amongst them the three of them are mixing it well here in around this point so it looks like the be nether title on the men’s or women’s side defended this year yeah that’s ktic there from John
Ktic the 25-year old from Kenya so it’s a good battle here between two Ethiopians and a Kenyan and Joan ktic there in third fourth in the Verona half marathon and that PB of 6834 as you mentioned the 23950 as they pass the dropping well there and make their way
Down towards uh miltown um this is when the race tends to start really in terms of the the hills and and the kind of the the distance that we’ve covered so far but um kitic um the 25y old con there in thirdd place H looks to be dangerous as
Well H with that half marathon P of 6834 but she may struggle over the last couple of Miles yeah I think as Lizzy uh Le said there just when they start coming up to those Hills in UCD as well there could be a lot of change now
There’s plenty of ups and downs here they’re getting sorted out now anyway with that leading Trio and um yeah it’ll be little bit more isolation I think by that point as well that’ll finally sort them out fully as well and I think there’ll be an increase in Pace as well towards the
Finish yeah certainly and you can see there obviously the the men’s race is is done and dusted in terms of the winner we we would feel at this stage but three athletes here in the women’s race at the top end the female uh field here and
We’ll see how they get on as as you can see here our leader in the men’s yes certainly in for an interview on his way and he has plenty of time he’s H he’s absolutely fly there husin there the Ethiopian is who said well on course to smash this uh this National or
Just not not National record this uh course record here in the Irish life Dublin Marathon interesting to see I don’t think that always would have been the case but we the the cones they they’re trying to keep as much traffic operating as possible and still plenty
Of space for the flow of the road I’m sure when many mored houses they might shift that out a little bit more but uh it’s sub operations to keep the streets free and something we don’t uh we take for granted especially if anyone’s in a c these days the amount of
Traffic on the road is is off the charts now so uh it’s some operation by Jim Anne and his crew for the Irish life Dublin Marathon uh and then obviously in corporation as and right on Q there’s a guard there as well and and the local
And all the local servic so it’s a huge operation here and it’s going to be a massive course record by the looks of it there from Kamal Hussein yeah certainly as we said he was on course there uh earlier at the 30 km Mark uh he was on course for that
205 uh 58 which would be an incredible run here and a massive personal best for him I supp we often kind of talk about this in terms of course records but he’s at least are hoping to set personally best or season best as well and he’ll be working towards this Marathon uh all
Year since since he raced in Dubai so uh to run a massive PB here he’ll he have fun memories of Dublin he’s gritting the teeth he’s just that UCD there uh going over the the fly over there then hang the left and uh the UCD fly over I think
It is famously known don’t know how they came up with that name but anyway uh and the Enon so he is gritting the tee now there’s there’s ups and downs this is going to start stinging you these type of twists and turns and that’s why all
Uh can change a little bit of pace certainly the paces can be affected but he’s gone back down the hill he can get a little bit more moment mum and great to see all the volunteers out there in their their the official Volunteers in the in their purple there of Irish life
For 2023 we’re back to the women roll yeah certainly and I’ll just note there about 14 minutes left in that men’s race for Hussein and plenty more to go for neash here and and ktic and and uh habel um but they’re they’re operating around that 539 mile Pace at the moment and
Projected finish time here over in around 220 so will be just outside that that record um set back in 2010 but certainly uh it will be a fine race here between three these three athletes at the moment which is pretty impressive that that’s holding with in terms of
Like that’s the pretty shoe game really isn’t it 2010 yeah yeah 226 13 so unless we see a major um increase in Pace here that that is um very much safe for another year but yeah it’s certainly very uh odd to see records last so long
In the game these days um but uh I’m sure it will be broken at some stage I think they’ve never really obviously we’ve seen the race unfold today they’ve never really attacked the course record then as we said George ravenhall nearly getting Barrel off the road was as as a
Bit of frustration I think it might have been from Nash actually looking for the others to kind of get going or not be just stalling on our heels which they which they essentially are again yeah certainly and I suppose he said that even from the early doors in the first
Three or four miles even as soon as we got into the the park even we could see that there wasn’t really a huge push on to to run uh too hard today but certainly they’ll be looking to to get pick up the prize prize money for first
Second and third here but not unlike the men’s race where we’re seeing a huge attack on that on that record and and he’s really blown the field apart and we give you an idea of how the rest of the field is getting on but at the moment these three athletes are certainly out
On their own H kipic Nash and uh Genet habala uh there in second place 116 um she would have come in said with that 229 personal best from a couple of years back but she certainly looks like she’s on course for for a personal best today
Of that 228 imin and we can see a few more Runners on the path there people taking in their Sunday long runs and on along the course so they can keep an eye on proceedings I forget Dean second name but you can see him just in the red
Single that they passed on city of Derry he’s been a top Master Runner uh down through the last number of years so uh yeah they’re clipping along but look at the the face and the composer she’s she had hasn’t hit uh Top Gear at all yet no she hasn’t she’s looking absolutely
Superb at this moment in time and and just incredibly relaxed that’s all three of M looking relatively relaxed I think H Joan kipic there in third H kind of rocking the shoulders a little bit more than the gash at at the front but she certainly looks like the most relaxed um
At the moment and still plenty of running obviously to do um with a projected finish time of of 228 we’re still a good half an hour off um our finish here for these for these athletes as they as they motor through H South Dublin here but um the man the man the
Man himself um are coming up to 24 miles Kamal Hussein I know yeah he’s he’s going to be done th you know he he’s two mil he’s less than 10 minutes to go I think yeah exactly he’s he’s gone too soon for us he’s he’s absolutely flying
Here you can see there he is the the cyclist really almost struggling to say stay with him down this hill um he’s absolutely flying it here and rugby parlance he’s absolutely sending it he certainly is here as as we as we motor along he’s only got about uh the
Guts of 10 minutes of running left um and we’re coming in last of 2 miles here for uh husin at this stage so in around 3 km uh left to go for him so we will try and get um a 40 km split for as well
And kind get a better idea of exactly what he’s projected to finish on but he certainly looks like a man that could keep going for another couple of Miles H after the finish here he’s never really looked under huge pressure there’s probably a little bit of a change in in
His demeanor and his posture over the last maybe four miles but he certainly still looks full of running at the stage he just just got a text in there good to know sometimes don’t want people to text you because they’re criticizing you but uh and I wouldn’t be touchy but uh Dean
Reed it’s always helpful to get good uh Tex in F Ry Dean Reed of Derry that’s who I was mentioned there the lead women just pass him there but look what say go so 10:44 so 3 minutes uh and we’ll get our 40 km split and then he’ll be inide
That last is it 42.2 it’s 26. 2112 42.1 to or nearly they’re about the same that extra point at the end of the marathon is all the difference exactly number see plenty of history in this event and plenty history in the in the double Marathon so he’ll be joining plenty of great names
Including Felisa Lessa dick Hooper uh Tommy Hughes would be famous enough as well character these days even ter in terms of his later career uh multiple winners suck off of Russia as well so plenty of great athletes have have come here and won this double Marathon but uh
Certainly this man looks like he’s going to uh put his name on into the record books and uh I think it it’s a it’s a record that you you struggled to see broken maybe for a year month yeah exact exactly knowing the way things go these
Days but it has the last 12 months anyway cuz the double Marathon isn’t on next year again but I do think as you saying R there he’s putting it into a new league that double marath like 208s you know in in the modern era is a is a
Solid time but now if he’s going to run even under 206 like that’s going to take note of all athletes that you know you can run you know that’s well under 2 minutes under the Olympic uh qualifying time and and I do think there’s that Irish athletes that uh are good enough
And can be good enough in the future to to run under Olympic standards here and that’s been always the Dublin marathon’s goal really has also been improving they’ve had their marath missions improving the standards of ourish distance running and the fact it incorporates the national title um
Probably a little bit far away but we’ve seen the Japanese trial but that I think that would be the dream goal ultimately is that their top Irish Runners will be you know you’re you’re running a trial and potentially like in Japan the first two are guaranteed selection and then
The third is potentially you know an alternate they can pick the fastest runner if they so choose exactly and who’s saying here as you said run that if he runs that 206 H it certainly even gives a kind of a shot across the the the marathons to to know that you can
Actually come to to Dublin and run those kind of times so as you said it might last it might only last the 12 months as other athletes decide to come and race in Dublin uh knowing that you can run 205 at 206 here at at your best so
Incredible run there he passed pener Wanderers uh Club there um it’s Cricket Club is it um hockey hockey is it Hockey Club and uh he’s not wandering here he’s he’s certainly staying on Pace yeah as long as he doesn’t go wandering and take a wrong turn but uh
Some people waiting at the buser to say why is my bus not coming today or yes yeah there might just be fans but there’s definitely going to be people walking out on Dublin today and and wondering what is all this commotion about and why is my bus not there and uh
There’s no Dart Services operating the north side of the city again that’ be my one gripe to city council every year the dou Martin on get your get your trains operating yeah we’ll have no grapes here none whatever and Hussein has no grapes at the court it for sure he’s not witing
On the bus he’s getting H there a lot quicker than the bus would um at this stage he’s still on course at 205 58 we should get a 40K split um from him very shortly um in fact we may even uh already have it um but he’s flying it
Here just come through right on Q 15946 uh two so he has slowed a bit the grimaces did tell it h he’s on for 20618 but still well on for uh the course record and basically need needs to get two three minute Cas in 72 seconds we
Left 36 for 200 and then some kind of finish he’s he’s gritting the teeth there now you can see look at the facial it’s the first time now we’ve seen different uh uh facial expressions changing the Grimace the jaw little bit more rocking and rolling he was going side to side
But definitely Rock and rolling a bit more in the face getting a bit more lock jawy and there’s the little bit of saliva coming out here you’re getting to work he’s counting down he paulli used to count to 100 I think when she was getting into that pain Zone and then
Keep repeating yeah and like you can see certainly like he’s he’s going along there by the uh the RDS and and he’s he’s getting into the the real the end of this uh end of this race and you can see even just as you said that he’s very
Much changing his demeanor and his and his body uh posture over the last moment arms are starting to come across and that’s been shown in the the pace as well so uh 20618 H he’s projected for from that 40 km I would suspect here we might see a
Little bit of a drop off but but he still should beat the course record by a good uh minute and a half which would be incredible running see there in the background the Irish life Expo was held there at the RDS as well I don’t think
Hussein was down at the Expo having a wander around I wouldn’t suspect but sometimes they float in briefly and uh Eugene C might they might have the atlete meeting there but I think they’re staying in the conad hotels they might have their Elite meeting there but yeah
Generally I don’t think they were going around looking at the Stalls and taking a few hints yeah what’s my last tip should I have the gel should I have a cup of C coffee beforehand uh and uh generally chatting um so uh yeah you can
Just see the legs if you look at them there just just the way they striking the ground are just a little bit heavier slapping the ground more where he’s popping off the ground a little bit more but he’s it’s a lot they just adjusted this one I’m pretty sure it’s nearly
Straight all the way into the finish the one of the previous courses when I ran you were twisting in and out it was great by Trinity College but there was a lot of twists and turns it’s great at the end you know there were twists and turns earlier but you’re energy is
Harder you can C it just kind of the straight line finish now into Fitz Williams Square are we correct I think so yes yeah yeah but at the moment we’re coming through balls Bridge there and uh and they’ve been making their way along uh yes it said pretty straight road
Through Donny Brooke and uh and getting themselves into that finish line and uh he certainly looks like he he’ll be well he’ll certainly be the first uh man over the line here and he’ll be well over by about a minute and a half and we’ll get
An idea there just of the women’s field briefly just before we we jump back to the men’s yeah he’s got a couple minutes to go we might just get across I think kitic is just on the shoulder of Nash it might be a twom race now I think once we
Get a little bit of uh chance to go back on that screen as uh hin is really grinding it out the head is rocking on the rolling that Marian Square yes not fits Willam Square yeah they’re one of the squares one of the I think it starts
On Fitz Willam square and of course they’re all fantastic squares some of the best squares I’ve ever seen but uh certainly hin here absolutely flying along at the front of this field and the women’s races as we can tell you they’re just not on your screen we’ll get on
Your screen very shortly H I said now has become a two women W race so habel the winner of the an marathon in 2019 has been dropped and it is in fact uh our friend NES there who’s been leading from from ktic yeah and so they’re onew
At the moment in this uh women’s H at lead field and flying along at the moment and habel has not only dropped out of that group but he’s dropped well back there you can’t barely even see her on the screen there she’s gone well off um the these lead Runners at the moment
So they’re really as Lizzy predicted on these Hills yeah they’re really sorting them out I still think the gash looks very strong obviously kiit was looking pretty decent there the gash will be doing all the work and there is a big rivalry between uh the that East African
Riv between Kenya and Ethiopia they do take it passionately and uh smell a bit like whatever Netherlands versus Germany and Ireland versus England and take your pick Scotland versus England Wales versus England C certainly rivalry here but there there’s no rival for this man hin today he’s well out in front here at
The moment and not long to go here now for him so he’ll be enjoying the little bit of uh support he’s getting here um from the The Spectators on the side and knowing that he’s near the Finish you can see it’s hard always to tell is it a
Smiler or Grimace I’m hoping it’s a smile oh he’s grimacing big time now the chin is sticking out look he’s gone through a world of pain now I think but I think on one level that’s great to see I mean everyone can identify with this
Type of pain in a in a race and there’s going to be multiple people 20,000 in fact gone through this type of feeling at this particular point in the race and probably obviously sooner as well but when you’ve got it inside that’s when it really can kind of I think hurt a little
Bit more you know you’re nearly there you’re trying to see can you push a little bit and generally probably even just maintain a pace they have the finishing tick tape out on Marian Square the purple purple carpet the color of Irish life our fantastic main sponsor for the Dublin
Marathon and uh Jim mne is out giving them the way they really can be a little bit of thing so uh Ron we might let you take him away once he comes in here into our screenshot yeah so say so we we’ve uh the the motor bikes we’ve have been
Have dropped and we’ve got the section here we can see the women though working well here and that is H NES and kic they’re the lead women in the elite race and they’re flying along in around 229 Pace at the moment so really going well and it’s become a great battle and we
Could see a fantastic race uh between these two all the way to the finish so that’ll be an incredibly exciting end and we haven’t seen husin enter just come onto our screen there so he looks like he’s going to smash the course record here today and certainly smash
His PB as well so projected finish time for him at the moment is 20618 we’ll see what exactly that is in the end we’ll see that screen on our screen as well but he’s he’s absolutely blown the field away here hin um from the start he was
Always looks looked like he was he was going to run well today and he he certainly uh put paid to the rest of the field H throughout but he’s he’s going to win this year’s Irish light Dublin Marathon here in a new course record which at the moment looks like it’s
Going to be in around 2 or 20635 but is flying it up here to finish getting great support from the crowd as well so the winner of this year’s Dublin marathon is going to be Cel Hussein of Ethiopia previous PV of 2099 and he’s going to absolutely smash that here and
He’s going to run 206 and change here points to the sky 20648 I think or 20650 and he and now we’re seeing the pain and he sits down and has a a word with himself upstairs exactly and thank thanks be to the Lord on finished look
At the legs were s there’s Jim okne the record breaker um sign there he goes he’s going to give him the flag as we see in all the major marathons so great to see Jame Anne he puts in Untold work alongside his whole committee and uh he’ll be CH to that sub
207 he’s holding it up with another wheelchair finisher coming in then 212 Dave demy is generally the man on the mic at Live down in Maran square and uh saying there is pointing at it thing the record breaker and Lizzy in as well to give out the the ethopian flag
So laen car but certainly delighted there to to win and he’s delighted with his record all great to set personal best after all that um effort as well in terms of planning for this post du Marathon so he’s ran two personal bests in 2023 so he’s a man on the church and
And absolutely flying up hopefully we’ll see him come back next year and and uh take another couple of seconds off that record yeah we’ll see a few more of the runners coming in but here is the women’s race this is still all to play for kiit definitely looks like she’s
Struggling a little bit more the the Jaws open the mouth is open a little bit more swinging from side to side Nash is looking composed she’s done most of the work so has a little glance at the watch my money would be on her but again some Runners can be complete poker
Face and then when they’re gone they’re gone yeah like M leran and the in the Tour of France when they used to crack the the the the patrons tour and they often they’d crack in different ways and sometimes an atlete can be perfectly Serene and then just suddenly move off
Screen move off stage left and and be left behind but certainly that men’s race just as well as well to give you an idea of stepen skolen is now up to fourth place there at 40 km um and he is on projected to Run 2 1144 so well ahead
Of um B and workan there who are in F and six and Ryan Cree in that domestic race down in sixth place at the moment 213 49 just out said he’s personal best he’s projected to finish and Ryan foresight currently in third 214 projected finish for him so all those
Atlet over the 40 km Mark uh which is fantastic um and we’re coming to the end of that men’s race as well curo the Uganda in second and uh briman cauto in third the 25-year-old from from Kenya so those atlet all working well and set to run some personal bests or some
Fantastic times but in this women’s race it’s going to be a fantastic race here all the way to the Finish we hope yeah they’re coming up to the UCD fly over here Nash and ktic and um we’ll try and keep an eye we have kind of a split
Screen there we’ll see can we get a camera kind of more set on that finish line and see can we see where our male Runners are particularly an stepen skulan as he said he’s in forth um it’s coming up to 210 on the clock of the
Finishers there and can he get back into that top three like he has before he’s going to 212 he’s running this course before can he dip under the 212 and set a new Irish I suppose best performance on the streets of Dublin yeah as we can see here uh we can still
See our atlet Ness and kipic uh battling it out here kibit looking like she’s struggling a little bit the G as you said has that poker face and and certainly looks like she’s going to uh she’s going to hold on at the front of this field she looks very very good at
The moment you can just see a little bit of Grimace on her face there and but kibic just behind her a little looks like it’s starting to rain there as well out in the course so perhaps also not enjoying the uh the conditions here um at the moment is he crossing the line
There I think that’s curo the Ugandan H Crossing there in what I think is going to be second place let’s get that confirmed here with the winner C certainly confirmed at 206 52 second now curo 21045 so almost 4 minutes between the winner there and second place so we he
Did Smash the field I know I didn’t want to say it ear on but four I know he did and like I mean the pace he was operating was it was different it was different class like I suppose we might have to keep an eye on like you said
Mentioned earlier face LESA maybe this is the type of guy who’s going to get down to a 203 or something that an even uh faster Marathon like Chicago or Berlin but it’s some run here and again this is a marathon to make your mark or even get into the Swanson career it’s a
Great platform and hopefully you’ll see some of the other Runners even the down here but is this St coming in for third what a finish it was predicted by multiple people on our our messages he’s coming in hard he’s having a look back he’s digging in this is a great
Performance one of the best runs of stepen scan’s career yeah we get an idea of the finish time for him there in a moment as soon as he crosses the line but he’s actually flying there he’s going to finish third and has finished third in the Irish life
Dublin Marathon you can see what it’s taken out of him as well crashes to the floor in around 21154 there and confirmed at 21151 for Steven scol incredible run Beats briman kuto by 4 seconds and a b and what a what a run through the rest of that field we see
Ryan creat there on the screen but Steven scolan has won the Irish title and he won the third overall and what a smashing run especially in those last couple of miles there by scol and you can see what it’s taken out of him brilliant on his hands and knees there’s
The tri color there brilliant performance and you know Jim Anne and the crew they’re always Keen to see the Irish Runners running well and be right up in the podium it’s it’s a big motivation it’s a fantastic fantastic run um he’s had his ups and downs the last couple of years but he
Shown his ability and that at age 34 he’s still Ireland’s number one marathon runner in every sense certainly they an incredible run I Inspire the rest of the the Irish field as well finished thir overall in dou marathan we’ve often seen over the years um you know the the Elite field and then
The domestic field being a good bit off that but to have a guy like scolan competing amongst uh the elite international field there finishing third overall and beting some high high quality athletes um and to run 21151 as well a cracking performance there great for the crowds as well and there’s um
Could and looks like R has come up really he could to catch him here now he’s going to put it in Pre so can he get up and pass one more man it’s every place counts in terms of uh prize money and of course pride and uh finish Fast
He th000 difference between sixth and seventh here so Ryan cre is literally SC for the grand yeah and off our screen you can just see ktic has been dropped by Nash in the women’s race and uh they’re going to just be a shade over 214 maybe just under as uh there is
Nagash there she’s put in 10 20 mday she’s past Colin Griffin there of balore I we might just go back to the men just briefly just to see the Finish there and see Ryan PR come in and then we’ll really give the women all their due uh
Credit so just so out side two that’s working a f CR and then Here Comes Ryan cre 21407 it’s a brilliant run I he’s run 213 inil it’s his second run uh it’s fantastic to see him backing it up as he say he’s been injured multiple times you
Can easy crack there’s Lizzy Lee uh given big hook coached by both coached by uh the legend that is dony Walsh down in Cork and it’s fantastic run backing up that performance and here comes Ryan forite is having an absolutely brilliant run didn’t think he run this well he’s
Cramping in but it’s another very good run he’s just getting in under 215 and that’s rounding out our men’s top three in the National Marans on Newcastle I think Richard Rogers is guiding SL coaching him so uh great performance and uh really we might then when we get the
The screens back we’ll get back to the women and give them their due credit now and bring them all the way home now for the next 15 20 plus minutes and we just give you an official uh clockings there on those men just before we just as we
Go back to those women’s field Steven scolan 21151 uh Ryan cre 21408 and Ryan forsight 21443 that rounds out that domestic field there so congratulations to stepen scolan H he joins the L likes of uh dick Hooper Gary crosen Sean her and Mick KY and Sean
Connley over the last couple of years so um incredible running and well done to step scul and we’re on now with to the female uh Elite field here and this is s the gash and she has been uh say George ravenal nearly suffered the Wrath hell
Half no fury like a woman scorn but she has been looked very good a little bit like Kamal Hussein who won the men’s race just looking more comfortable than the others she was getting agitated the pace wasn’t clipping on and uh she’s really now popping along the roads here
In Dublin the rain slight deter but also a coolant as well at this point you don’t want it to get too hot and uh it’s pretty tempered now the conditions are good even with a bit of rain there’s no real wind as we can look at the trees
Here as she’s coming down right on the long close enough to the long straight run for home yeah and like you can see there she’s probably put it’s always hard to tell on that camera directly in front but she’s probably got the guts of
100 150 M to Kit so she has finished in second in the Stockholm Marathon uh so far this year as he pass passes Gary hland there who’s won the national title men’s national title I’m sure you’re giving her a little bit of support as as she goes by but um she’s finished second
This year in the Stockholm Marathon so she’s hoping to get her first marathon win of the Year here in 2023 um is NES and as I said being the class of this field really looked the most comfortable uh early on in that women’s race so uh you can see certainly she still looks
Relatively comfortable at this late stage yeah as you can see some like Gary handland there he’s going to beware aware that that’s the first female of the Dublin marathon and and uh but I think his legs are gone and she’s little bit of signs of or she gritted the teeth
Slightly but just even just to be able to do the old classic runnner little bit of a snot rocket comfortably enough she’s looking at the watch you’re just seeing she kind of checking right as well how much time to G my watch in terms of distance and uh but she’s still
Looking pretty strong as well as you said that the kind of inside watch look it normally preferred on the outside of the wrist but everyone has their favorites so what way it’ll sit on you especially all these minute details over 26.2 mil as mad as it sounds can can
Make a big difference in terms of even your comfort the way it’s sitting even on on the bone of your wrist yeah certainly like I that personal best she said this earlier this year 22640 she was Ninth Place in that Dubai Marathon but that is well that is her fastest
Time by about 3 minutes so she’s still looking like she’s going to look pretty good here today and running around the 228 um it’s especially if she continues to Pace over this these later miles but um certainly been an incredible uh run from her so far um and really put PID to
The the chances of kipic who’s just behind you in your screen there in the green she’s about 150 200 M behind this stage Cario hand as you can see he’s in a world of pain there as well and uh he might be caught by another couple of
Runners there so on the clock on the other split screen at the Finish we can see it’s still 218 and 30 at the moment and uh if we can we might see can we go back to the leading Irish woman as well as was previously mentioned Anar mcglen
And the lead followed by Gladis ganiel followed by Circle Lan kind of the Super Moms Club as well if you want to call them that or yeah certainly and and the GU there just came to that 40 km just to give you kind of an updated idea of
Where what our finish time might be she’s looking at 226 13 so certainly uh picking the pace up as as she went through those that last 10 km 22 2640 is her personal best so we could see two personal bests set today by our winners which would be incredible and course
Records what was the course just check the core circuit there now we should really know that F you know what I mean at this stage you mentioned that there was even over 2010 226 but uh as we said the fact they were that comfortable means they can close hard and close
Quickly as we have another men’s finisher coming in yeah just interrupt you there fa at 226 uh 13 so her predicted finish time is exactly the course record so we could be very very tight for that cor it won’t be like uh our men’s winner there where
We have we had plenty of uh time to spare we could be just on for that course record how will she go over these later miles can she maintain this pace or even perhaps pick it up with the support of the crowd yeah can she up the
Atie to up her own atie in the uh cash priz f certainly and and even that that that uh that overall price fund ,200 or sorry 12,000 for the win here for aash which I’m sure um she would be delighted with after finishing ninth and second so
Far this year in her Marathon so third marathon of the year and on for a personal best um and hopefully a course record yeah I think she’s well on for just to I’ve had I’m sure I’ve had a few fall pass along way but up in the anti
As I mentioned C I set mention as a gambling journalist I meant that in the sense that and the odds exchange expert that he’d be able to give us such a fantastic Insight I think they say uh if you’re explaining you’re losing you know yeah in fact it wasn’t
Me this is Felix Jones on commentary so uh s Nash is uh really clip along said doesn’t have the top top top 500b shoes on but she is still hopping and bopping here coming by maybe ry’s Beast show could it be yes it is there in the right yet com through ball
Bridge rugby country No’s restaurant of South Dublin and uh the guest there perhaps will be dining in there this evening perhaps the beastro will uh give her a free a free meal uh but NES here she’s she’s on for that course record just about on to equal it at the moment
According to our tracker but and we’ll see how she goes over the final uh two uh kilometers Gary hland just in there behind you can see then kitic also on for a 226 performance she’s just at the back of your screen there but 22628 we could see from from her as well
Which would be an outstanding run and uh we’ll see hopefully we’ll get an idea on the trackers of our domestic field then as well but no doubt at the moment about the winner NES H looks like he’s going to win and maybe we’ll see that course
Record it’s going to be tight yeah it’s kind of like where you want the old course info can somebody get down on the course an athlete manager perhaps it might be in his best interest as well to know the course you can see Gary ohanlan
There he is as tough as all boots and he’s digging in in terms of not one wanting to be beaten by woman so he’s going to try and Chase that down a little bit there and uh he hasn’t gone out of shot as much as you as you would
Have thought there so he he’s rallying as we’re back to the finish line here we might still hope to get the cameras back to Amry mcin and Co as well as I think there’s still lots of people G by Miles Club there’s a man dressed in the fire
Suit and uh a nice run here for this man all in black it’s not John Walker it’s not Nick Willis but he’s uh on for under 223 which is very good run from with look up number 37 looks pretty young as well for he certainly Lo 222 is incredible running James Donald from
Dunde good man fa play from Scot dunde and Scot guessing that trying to think from dund crocodile dund yeah but certainly incred R there crocodile runs in with this 20,000 crowd so 223 on the clock now um we should be we’re about 3 minutes away from the finish of the uh
Women’s Elite field as we see plenty of uh atlet coming down through uh turnure there in the the main field um and still in fine petal there as they enter into the crossroads there by V’s Pub which James Joyce’s mother used to work in would you
Believe I would well I would believe it now I didn’t know what I believe anything you told me wrong so that’s not really much um I’d I’d be quite uh did you hear they took the word glial out of the dictionary I fell for that one multiple
Times so there’s more of them at Ren Mayo’s Pub and uh your Village Shoe makers Malloy Murphy solicitors they’re the old legal roof very popular in the modern era and of course your circle CS if you want some petroleum so still good crowds there in castl knck and great to
See the runners doing the hand claps as we’re coming up to uh 22 24 at the finishers clock for the main field and here’s a woman enjoying just back there noon and I think was our name printed across always help a few people skipping all the way to the Finish perhaps not
Yeah I think they’re in kind enthusiastic form here but still very early for a lot of these people here the man of the fire suit um hopefully we won’t extinguish any dreams here now over the next uh couple of Miles yes thank you very much I’m here all week
And uh yes we’re at 40 km we’ve only had four rers over so anary mlin yet to hit the 40 km Mark H she is projected to finish the moment of 232 for her so she’s been picking up the pace throughout those last couple of Miles um
And we should see a good finish for her she’s leading domestic field but fact to our uh women’s uh domestic our women’s Elite field here G leag yeah with the man finishing here this is the magic Fox forget Fox’s first name 63 we look him
Up he’s in the say sky he’s been a star of the over the last couple of years and on the Irish Road Running Scene looks very very happy of themselves so iect that personal best Michael Fox the Flying Fox from AR AC under 225 we have
A dinor Harrier on the charge here as well is that see the number and hopefully we get back to these finishing women as well as thisor harer is happy as well yeah we’re about a minute away from the end of the women’s race here so our motorbikes will probably be uh
Jetting off to the side here Kane Collins was that latest finisher excellent and uh certainly we’ll see we’ve got about 40 seconds or so or sorry 35 seconds or so until we see our Elite women come in so we we’re on this camera shot here and we’ll see hopefully
We can break that record she was on directly on to equal the record of 22613 of Tatiana AR we said and I think they’re coming in now Tor malan is in now if we can just get away from that now and zoom in here and let’s get get
The women in here um there’s some Sprint finishes in here she not going to break that course record but it is going to be a title here in Dublin for sonon NES she wins the D Irish life Dublin Marathon 2023 in 22622 it’s still a personal best for her
And she’s absolutely delighted with that third marathon of the Year first win for her and a personal best in October here for S the absolutely brilliant hand just comeing in there there’s the Ethiopian flag so an Ethiopian dominance there s go and uh great running there as a
Number of the men are coming through and we’ll just see which uh of the next females are coming through yeah so should be kiit here coming through and we see Amar mlin is still leading that H domestic field but R 22622 so uh the course record survise
For another year but it certainly is under a bit of pressure from the lik K the chit there in second place you can just zoom out slightly there as we zoom out slightly we can still get people in shot and the actual race time camera here 227 on the clock as col Griffin
Comes in so we have our first two women in kitic that should be a big personal invest yeah 22704 for kitic which smashes her personal best by 12 minutes however as we said with that 684 34 half marathon she was was likely to smash her personal
Best and and probably was operating at a much higher level than that personal best over the maritan suggested but there’s anry mcin on in shot at the moment so we’ll get an idea of exactly what pace she’s on when she hits the 40 km Mark which she’s just done so so 225
She’s on for 2 uh 3356 at the moment which will be a smashing run from her yeah she’s gritting the teeth there she looked at the her watch and then she kind of kissed her hand there and kind of a bit of a I suppose sense of motivation people have things written on
On their hands and they have maybe even some kind of little bit of extra motivation aan cin famously won the world title I think he had the grass of Jerry F or of his father’s grave in the pocket of the shorts every little bit helps and particularly when we’re going
Up the distances to 26.2 miles you need your inspiration and this will be a big moment for mlin who has a great backstory and uh she’s well on course now for the SM there’s Emon Ley roaring around he was on all black just to the right of shot that’s the coach he’ll be
The proud coach he’s given her again every little bit she’s well clear she just needs to essentially bring it home Ronin certainly yeah and she’s in fifth place at the moment so she’s unlikely to catch uh those atlet in front of her there’s certainly a bit of a gap between
Fourth and fifth but she’s ahead of quite a number of the elite fielders Gladis canel there is in second place in domestic field she’s on for 2 3651 so well off uh andry MC at this stage but still in second place overall in this women’s domestic field but Anin is
Amongst the elites here she’s in fifth place uh at the moment she’s hit 40K and she’s you know making her way to the Finish jop has just crossed the line there in 22906 for fourth place so Amry mlin is fighting for that fifth place and uh certainly a fantastic run from
Her it’ be four minutes off her PB and but fantastic running from her and she’d be delighted to win her first National Title Here couple of minutes left for her as she passes through balls Bridge here um and hopefully at this stage she’s going to make her way all the way
To the Finish yeah great running glad canel still going well project finish of 2 3651 so she needs to make sure she’s keeping going she’s operating well and um yeah we’ll keep an eye on all these women and we’ll look at a couple of our go through some of our leaderboards
Again and certainly in I suppose primary mcin should be joining the likes of art Lizzy Lee who you saw in commentary ground Linda burn Marina Cambridge three time winner Valerie vaugh Pauline curlyy two time three-time winner as well EA cook vanola Ross and last year’s winner Courtney McGuire so see Simon Nolan
There from band crossing the line as well in 230 which would be I think personally best for him so he deled with that but certainly a fantastic run from emry M Place overall and on for her first ever National Title incredible run from her and she’s got many many
Accolades throughout her career but to win a National tit she’ll be delighted with that um at this stage of her career and still running really really well 233 to to run as you see some of the men’s field here crossing the line as well the domestic field yeah I think Sergey jaban
Is coming in there just a little bit behind uh we can pull up his number on the tracker now shortly serg jaban former National marath rner just unfortunately as they say time catches up with everyone and that is Sergio jaban and just behind him I think it’s Kevin mariarti on his debut Marathon
He’ll be a happy man as well he’s going to get under the 23 32 as uh more good preparation for some of these Runners as we are awaiting our lead Beale finisher so let say you can just see even and the visual the heavy legs to drop great
Run in the green and white Rini shamro he’s the first rahini man home there a trophy you can see the little cheeky smile of happiness and success so we just zoom back out again we can see Gladis ganiel actually on our on one of the other scams we split about Seas the
Yellow of the north Bast harriers on another split screen we can see it you can see it but they we might be able to go across that now shortly yeah and she’s on for objective finish of 236 and she’s second in that domestic field there you can see gladus Canal there
From North B Fest harriers she’s going very very well at this moment in time um and hopefully getting on for that uh 236 personal best is of 236 so we get an idea she’s R 241 H so far this year she finished second in the bast marathon and
Her PB was set in Dublin in 2019 so great to see her run running so well here and she looks to be actually um you know she’s she’s full of running even at this late stage 12th in the combo games marathon and glasgo in 2014 as well it’s
Unexperienced that least yeah and we might push back we can to the Finish Line cuz I think Anar mcglinn on projected times is going to be coming in for our national M at 11:18 a.m. now 11:7 there’s Carl Fitz Maris coming in Sor that glad is going about 10 seconds
Projected TI her PB so she’ll be fighting all the way to the Finish but emry mlin should be coming in very shortly care M there the CL the next minut there yeah there he is the AL F we mentioned before we can just zoom back across Carl’s had a nice
Run but we’ll just shift across there so we can see who’s coming in to win national titles ET out and um she’s still probably not quite in Spring she’s projected finish her in at 40 km we had her at 2 3356 so we about just under a
Minute here to build up for Amry mcglinn’s H First National Title Court ner from Tom La was the winner last year in 232 so we should see a similar time here OS the year before and hea cook in 2019 so she’s joining all these atlet his own Flynn there who
Was amongst those uh leaders Elite women’s leaders at thir former bronze medalist in the event yeah so we’re building up for come in we won’t flick the screen because we’ll have to go back and forth gladus gel we can confirm is striding sweetly or sweetly as you can
In mile 25 26 of the mar I can just see just to the left you can see coming to the Finish just don’t stay where we are there we go that she’s coming in now you can just see the feat just behind this Runner she’s coming in for a big
Flourish and Mar mlin the hands are out look at this she’s always a bit of a character the fist pump is here Ron yeah she’s going about across the line and win her first ever National Title Here at the Irish life Dublin Marathon she’s going to be just outside that 234 but
Amry Lyn doesn’t care she’s got a national title in the in the in the bag and she’s celebrating over the line and delighted and full of energy and full of running even at this late stage delighted with that celebrating wildly andry a very very popular atlete and and
Everyone would be delighted to see here her win her first national title well done to andry there she is the tri color there it is the hug with Len card Jim Anne the race director as well Chu they’ve been down through the years there’s the clan AC I was right actually
With Captain Kelly down right the clan AC anyway there’s another one of our Elite female runners in so we can just try and keep am in shot and zoom out slightly we’ll be able to get in a number of the runners yeah am in fifth overall just finished in front of H
Haner from Morocco and then we also have two um we ha mcari of Ethiopia as well finishing there so some fantastic finish is in that Elite women’s race but andrein amongst the elites there 23413 for fifth overall and the national title so both of our national title
Winners really amongst the the top end of the field Stevens helan in third place and andry in fifth yeah look you always want your Elite Irish Runners coming right up in the top five there more happy Runners com in that’s Kieran McKennon now coming through from Star to
See and made um you know if you’re watching the race then it’s the hour 10 minutes down the road in in certain s situations is not as inspiring for the local so it’s great to have the the the essentially nearly the Perfect Blend that we have here today between like
Having you still want the top Runners but we want the ours to be competitive and that’s the point of the dou mar otherwise there’s very little if they can’t get him the mix yeah certainly it’s been abely spot on here by the dou Maran organizers Irish life Dublin
Marathon here as we see Ates crossing the line there and looking quitea there she will offer her personal best but certainly uh delighted to finish as all everyone has always delighted to get across the line in the marathon in the last couple of miles there 23601 for for
Seven place in that Elite women’s field yeah sometimes the only way home is to actually get home there’s no a long way to go you’re going to have to try and Jog or crawl home as now we’re starting to see more kind of this the trickle of Runners and then at the
Finish we’ll have literally that human River coming in a little bit later 236 in the CL we’ll look out for that North Belfast Harrier uh yellow singlet of glus ganiel she’ll be coming now quite shortly for that silver medal in the Irish National American championships here has incorporated as part of the
Irish life double Mar 2023 yeah she should be going lross the line very shortly and just a PBS as well for first second and third is D is gelle here is getting up she’s going to be just outside her own personal best but she’s about to just go outside 2 37 here for
Second place in the Dublin Irish life Dublin Marathon the domestic field here she’s got about finish second Cross of the line 23707 so bit outside her personal best but what running from a very experienced that LE finished second here in the Irish life D marathon and we’ll get an
Idea then on who our third place finisher is likely to be we had a bit of a battle going on there back to third but glad gel second place behind andry mlin so Del congratulations to L fair play to Jim Aly and Lizzy Le given those big hugs it’s great and all but
Uh a lot of perspiration shall we say that goes on on a 26 Mile route yeah s Lo by the way in Ninth Place overall at 40 23617 she went through um and her Pro Finish plan in is 244 so a few minutes before we see her get for her bronze
Medal with fantastic runs from an and D can s ised to be our third place finish there in the women’s setic field PBS first second and third in that women’s field PBS for days there’ll be lots of PBS here again we can see the dra in
District red sing with their cage in the blue and white then multiple in the different things um that’s one of the Mooney Brothers those a Rory coming in they do where do the inverse series we is uh NE AC yeah funky writing on it we’ve got
More wax for it and U not sure Co will get a couple of those other singlets to you but don’t be afraid to keep commentating and commenting on the YouTube stream and on all other forms of social media for the doubl marathan certainly and just nth Place Ernie edkin
His father won the marath in 1983 and he’s over here to keep an eye on his son here finishing nth place in 219 so didn’t run faster than his father did but still delayed finish in the top 10 in double marathon it’s just a great journey isn’t
It and uh you kind of travel the same routes and a great performance still sub 220 as you said Ronin as we see LSA R is coming through I think that could be an anadel Strider coming through he’s fist pumping there slayy Olympic there through as well so all these Runners
Still coming through in 240 as we await circle of Nan where she’d be wearing her uh white singet with the black uh horizontal famous stripe of dinor harriers see Port marck uh AC com through here in the yellow and the black as well yeah and certainly some some
Fantastic runs there across the board even like the likes of Ray Hines Tim ODU Gary hland you have all these I suppose high level domestic athletes finishing in around the the 226 area there so plenty of great runs in that men’s uh field we’ve got Gladis gelle is our last
Finisher there in the in the women’s field at moment cross the lines so we’re waiting on Circa Lan there should be about 3 or 4 minutes until she she crosses the line with plenty of uh men in that 240 range crossing the line now some searching for personal bestest and
Uh others disappointed maybe with their runs but everyone just happy to cross the line at this stage ah definitely uh get your whatever you’re getting into now recovery see the Crusader sing there we mentioned James huttle at the start of the outside of the program he’s one
Of the coach there marathan coach and Michael and Susan M Garin will be probably coaching a lot of the runners and Crusaders there still as well uh but they’ll have a a huge horde or contingent in this race just to remind you as well that the winners of the and
The get the overall winners but the Steven scolan third overall 21151 the our Irish National Marathon winner and then um and Mar mlin 2341 fifth place overall or of of the overall women and then she was also the first F40 not that that really matters no not these days no it’s not
When win overall is more important yeah you can you can clutch onto that uh yeah if you’re not in the overall Branch yeah if you’re if you’re not in the overall winner so more bodies there’s our human River coming through all the different signets willowfield harriers and the
Blue and white we’ve seen the north belf passer is yellow we’ve seen on Flynn as well there’s another R far the green and the black Carri Nar I keep thinking he’s been on my mind since yesterday what was his name again Carri naar he ran with
Kaka remember where did he run with Kaka somewhere oh no that was toer man T was can’t remember his his name yeah but he not only did he roam with him he beat him he beat him listen not all heroes were capes yeah exactly yeah yeah yeah those athletes are all coming through
The terer area there so probably still relatively enthusiastic haven’t really hit the uh the 18 19 20 mile Mark yet so that’s where as I say in the NFL you know it’s moving day so moving Zone here’s the finishing Zone if we can just shift that camera slightly across the
Right I think as we said circle look now as duw in in the next minute or two around to 244 Mark I think you said yes in around then yes so she’s getting up for that third place in the uh women’s uh domestic field and she’ll actually finish ninth overall which is a
Fantastic run uh to be in the top 10 okay we’re stuck on that camera then so we won’t be able to then see the finishers coming in yeah so we we we’ll see uh um hopefully see Circle then now in the next minute or so crossing crossing that line though um in around
That 244 and that’ll give us an idea there’s plenty of uh good male uh Club athletes here crossing the line and that’s a your personal best uh failm 236 236 52 and how do that feel you look when I brought it up you looked highly concerned and look was Olympic women
Marathon qualifying time at that stage pre Super Shoes but I didn’t redo my job supposed to be pacing Linda burn but had to stop on multiple sections along the way as the for mentioned bad diet played was that in 2011 2011 yeah Linda did her job and qualified for the Olympics and
Won domestic and one domestic race yeah so we’re looking out for Circle N here has multiple men steam roll to the Finish there’s a s there is a a sherock singlet there Cav there is the black and white of Cl of dinor um but uh not circle of n no I
Haven’t seen her come across yet but it’s been a fantastic uh days racing and fairness film like the to see the the men’s winner uh who saying there like just just I said destroy the field and destroy the record as well and just a real classy looking Runner who from the
Get-go looked like he was the likely winner as we see plenty of other atlet cross the line here in both winners of both in both races setting personal bests three personal bests in the in the women’s race as well in first second and third so and great to see such a great
Irish contingent as well Steven scolan winning the domestic title and an rlen winning the women’s domestic title as well so we’re waiting on Circle Lan here from dinor harriers coming up for third place in the domestic title as we saw Gary H I think he’s still coaching or guiding or whatever official term
Anybody wants to be known as or the assistant in their training program great to see all the different Club single is coming through now there’s uh might be another L but there’s the famous blue and white of tore Harry and we’ve seen multiple different clubs now steaming in as part of the national
Marath but just great to see them we their Club colors as well easier for every to pick out than a nondescript exactly much easier to to get an idea of who’s crossing the line but our projected finish of circle now was 24444 at 40 km but um obviously we
Haven’t seen her com in yet but she should be coming in any moment now you would hope for that bronze medal in the domestic race trying to get an idea there of her when she went cross the line but yet to see her at this stage
But I’m sure we’re not too far away from the arrival of our third place finisher here we’ve see a bit of action here on the on the start on the finish line for uh with our officials so I suspect we’re not too far away from seeing her they’re
Trying to they’re trying to shuttle them down to the left keep some areas open and then he’s coming back to the side here now so what do he what’s he what’s he there thinking there’s St Coke sing there the the red C in the front yeah and plenty of com is this
Cira now yeah here she is uh in the black cap there well done good man cameraman we’ve been able to reattach realign patent the back that is the national bronze that’s the top three in our women’s uh National Field and we can go through a couple of the top threes
And then we’ll do a little bit of a a recap I suppose in the next couple of minutes before we sign off for the afternoon yeah Circle there there 24529 for her so 16 619 a mile and we just see our fourth place uh finisher there or sorry not our four Place finish
Kathleen Harvey there R AC the not sure if that’s in the domestic title British flag there next to her name so uh 244 59 for her but Circ then 244 or 245 31 for her so um outside her personal best but certainly um a fantastic run uh by her
To finish third we see men celebrating there crossing the line delighted with their their efforts 246 and I said sub three hour marathon is a bit of a goal there for a lot of uh uh domestic Club athletes and athletes around the world Black Rock AC Brothers Pierce AC
So we might uh go through our top threes and a little bit of a Roundup and then we’ll sign off and then maybe they’ll be able to go back to the main cameras for the masses um and go through that so I suppose just in terms of the the men’s
Domestic race obviously we had uh some notal mentions there William monel as well we have mentioned 219 50 and 10th place so he was our fourth place finisher in the domestic R Ryan forsight came true to run 21443 which is a fantastic run uh from him uh the Newcastle and District AC man
Uh running an average pace of 509 for the B which is incredible H Ryan cre then the Le AC athlete 2113 personal best so just outside he’s own personal best but a fantastic run to finish second place in domestic race and seventh overall 214 08 for Ryan crean I
Say he’ll be slightly disappointed H not to ran 213 but delighted to finish second overall in that uh domestic race H and then we had Steven skulan the national champion for 2023 the Irish life double Marathon champ is Steven scolan of Cl the harriers 21151 and even his third overall pace of
502 uh for the 26.2 M distance and to give you the top three in that men’s race Calen 20652 smashing smashing field and the record uh today running a massive personal best end of about 90 seconds as well so he’ll have fond memories of Dublin hopefully we will get him back H
Next year to try and break the 206 uh barrier as well he looked uh classy from moment one in this race average pace of 451 a mile H curo and second the Ugandan 2104 five for for him and that was 5 minute Ming the hall way around and as
Mentioned Steven scolan third place overall H for skulan which is incredible Running and we’re going to be hearing from winners in in a a moment or two now and Lizzy Lizzie is going to be chatting to our winners s NES the winner of the women’s race John kipic H in second and we had in third place in that women’s
Race get you the names on that one that was uh habel there ganet habell um who ran 22748 so a personal best for her as well top three in the women’s race personal best andry the winner of domestic title and GL ganel second cker Lan third and it was nes 226 22 10
Seconds outside or 9 seconds outside that course record very good yeah our stats and facts our facts and stats so we’re going to be going down to uh our start line our finish line now to get some interviews with our winners so from us faum you’ve got a few words to say from
Me anyway for the Irish life done Mar incredible day incredible experience H to see these uh Elite athletes running so well over the 26.2 M distance and a fantastic job done by all um involved in the Irish life Dublin marathon and best of luck to all those athletes coming in
Now over the next couple of hours yeah that’s that just scribbling down the old few stats and facts we can uh watch all the mass Runners come in and we can pour over a few of the facts and the splits and what happened and didn’t happen but it fairly much Went are they more than performed and um same with the the elites uh field that were also brought in were they deliver so I think the arish life double Mar 2023 delivers once more we’ll await all the online and the uh the newspaper reports now over the rest of the day and
Tomorrow so thanks very much from us here in the commentary Team you to what are you trying to do on T W every might be up There spe for e W E E e spe Spe For Spe H [Applause] for The F moving Moving keep you keep moving runn coming behind I behind you Pleas please behind you behind behind you how was that for you today uh it was challenging with the weather R just making sure at the chair didn’t slide off course but happy with the time yeah it was challenging condition so yeah yeah I I ran this morning and I thought
Exactly the same thing I thought there was no wind that was good but the there was the traction on the course and there’s a bit of leaves and things around the place so it’s just a little bit little bit slipp better to be safe and we think that that’s number seven in
The National typ of it’s number seven maybe yeah play that’s some consistency you’re not knocking around a long time tell me you were about four or five minutes off your best which is fine cuz you’re you’re gearing up to next week go to is it next week New York yeah New
York yeah and what’s the the target what’s the ultimate season goal there now it’s last race of the Season it be a very strong feel come fifth before so if I can come definitely want to be in the top 10 anyway but um and today was good
Prep for that good kind of seeing where you are good prep on the Hills there for next week yeah yeah what what what will the recovery look like for the next week uh I think but with the chair you’d recover quicker than run him cuz it’s
It’s non it’s not a it’s non way p and so uh I’ll take tomorrow off anyway probably do an easy push Tuesday Wednesday and head off Friday so I’ll just take over this week really and make sure the body’s Lo wow right okay well well done seven times National Champion
That’s unbelievable well done FKS thanks R coming Behind oh I’m here with the Irish life Dublin Marathon National Champion Steven scolan step I’ve just heard you sing Jim mne’s Praises I’m a product of the marathon Mission myself part of it from 2010 onwards tell me how special this national title is to you yeah you know I there’s
A I think when you’re when you’re winning them at the time it seems like a formality I think I won two or three National 10K titles three years in a row and it was a formality and and and then you go through a rough patch and all of
A sudden it’s like go I’d love to go and win something like that again but I tried of and anybody listening to this live stream go listen to Johnny Wilkinson’s kicking coach Johnny se’s kicking coach guy called D Al red and he talks about managing pressure and it’s
Like stop thinking about the outcome what do you want to achieve next stop thinking about you know what’s coming behind you or people catching you what’s going to happen next and just focus on the process of what it is you’re doing when you’re mile 18 Mile 19 it’s like oh
My God what if I get tired or oh my God what if they’re coming from behind or I’m not joking you if you watch the live stream there was a guy sat on me from M 14 to like 24 and I like stop worrying about him you’re not there you’re here
You’re in this moment and I like what are you going to do all right drop the arms relax the arms where’s the breathing how’s the breathing going pick up your next bottle get your fluids on board and and it wasn’t about running it wasn’t about Podium it wasn’t about
Money and and they all come but but all you have to focus on is just are you enjoying yourself what’s the crowd doing like are you happy to be here they’re yeah you’re brought home that last I’m M 13 I run around this band and they’re
All going mad and I’m going get up and then I’m like 178 179 calm that heart R back down boy and so yeah look at it it’s a special one it’s a comeback one for you and I I I couldn’t I I totally totally understand that just running without the
Pressure and it’s magnificent when it works so I just want to say Well done to our national champion and it’s great to see you enjoying it yeah I think so I I look I I ran 70 minutes and 40 something seconds for a half marathon five six
Weeks ago and I raced I I didn’t hold back I was pushing and and we thought there was something better there but you just never know and so it’s been this rough period And I needed to believe in myself again but more than anything I
Said at the start of this week kid if you don’t enjoy next week like that’s it you know and I could cry about that but it’s like if you don’t if you don’t enjoy part of this and I was like imagine you woke a 10-year-old boy up
This morning and you went hey you want to go to the driving range later you want to go play football be like yes and they wouldn’t sleep the night before and it be you know all we all we focus on once you get over like 18 19 20s what if
I fail what if I what if people laugh at me what if I fall apart what if I Jo home nobody is laughing at you today stepen scolan well done National Title we’re really proud of you Irish life double Marathon National Title older well done I’m here with my club mate le la
Ryan Cree second today in the national championships silver medal a 21404 off your personal best it was scky conditions um a raft of bonus points for the Olympics a good time how are you feeling uh yeah um you know you have a you you g
Yourself up for uh like I came here to win the title and course um I think like at the moment I’m disappointed like uh I think the work was done it’s just I think I look back at it now and uh when I get to reflect and I I think i’ be
Happy but um you know when you you just want it I want to be in Scotland’s class I want to be able to compete and um it’s your second ever Marathon Ryan um and you were very very sensible John Travers Pace just 10 to halfway that look you
Looked so good you were ging up you were you know going through Dolphins Barn we saw you raising your hand you were enjoying yourself and I think the whole thing you love running you dony Walsh your coach over says you love along um you L along the last few miles didn’t go
Your way but I think you should be very very proud of yourself I certainly have emotion in my voice cuz I’m very proud of this man everything he’s done the hard work he’s put in and there are bonus points it’s 35 bonus points towards the Olympics so 214 for the
Viewers at home is probably akin to around a 211 um time so that there’s more to come you’re going to need a fast half or another fast Marathon um you you’re just you’re going to go home and have a chat with dony and knuckle down is that the plan yeah um
Just L you know and everybody at home like all friends and family at home just been such a journey to get here and in one piece yeah like um for years you know you’re like just being able to kind of compete and look what you’ve done and
Look what like yours dream to be able to compete and trying to win a National Title and like the dream of trying to compete to try and qualify for Olympics is so far from where I was a couple years ago and um just like I said
Disappointed today uh I had a goal I didn’t hit it that I wanted but um like I said there’s there’s more days to come and can stay healthy regroup stay healthy drive on with Johny watch ran I for one and I hope you can hear the
Emotion in my voice I’m very very proud of this man um we love you in leville your stalwart Athletics and well done and there’s more to come thank you we’re here live on the live stream with the Irish National Marathon Champion Irish life Dublin Marathon at
The r old age of 43 she’s 12 weeks older than me we have hry m i for one I’m absolutely elated to see this stalwart of Athletics standing here with the national title andry tell me what it means to you oh a lot I I manifested this from a year today and
Like I’ve been beat to it twice and I I knew this was my year I just had to believe it and I trained and I got injured and I stuck at it um and I couldn’t get excited out there cuz anything can happen and when the cameras
Came on me the live stream like I didn’t know when it was 14 15 Mile and I fell apart a bit cuz I just got a bit anxious and I had to tell myself relax embrace it um when they went away I was able to
Relax a bit more when it came to second time I I milked it I was like yes yes well I’m happy and for your family your hband D’s outside your your mommy your daddy we meet with all the races my mom’s at home special one today my mom
Got her knee replaced last Thursday and she couldn’t be here but I hope you’re watching M cuz that was for you we’re all so proud of you I’ve been told to keep this short andry your lips are blue going and get changed come here give me
A hug again I’m so proud of you well done I’m here withon who has just lowered her f45 National Record 23708 which is outstanding correct 46 about age but when you’re 27 have gotten you I mean it was a good one you know what I mean always hurt but I didn’t suffer suffer more some of the ones you’re
Slower 10y year personal best as I’d call it in Belfast in the half marathon 116 you knew we were in good shape the long runs obviously went well um tell me I I I adored Dublin when I’ve done it the crowd’s out there today yeah good yeah really really good and um there
Were a few guys from oler around me in the race so like you know you kind of like you were home yes yeah yeah so you just tried to latch onto one for a while and then try to catch up to the next one so that kept me going I like tell me
What just last question the longevity of your career you’re you’re knocking around a long time longer than me because you were on scholarship you you know you’ve done it for years how are you you staying just cuz the viewers at home how are you staying in one piece
Like what’s the yeah well I mean I’ve been running since I was about 12 years old so I do uh like snc and and a few months ago my snc coach he’s like in his 20s he’s like how do you stay motivated right and you know that thought hadn’t
Even crossed my mind for years same because it’s just such a habit you know and I mean you couldn’t do it obviously if you didn’t love it either but you know the Habit to go just you just don’t even think about it anymore and you know
To do the little things like the snc and the plates and stuff I think that that helps f45 National Record today second in the Irish national championships um it’s been a good day running for you well done gladus safe safe journey home thanks thank you so I’m here with ciran h who tried
To kill me in the cork Marathon last year let it be said um put me under unbelievable pressure third in the Irish national championships today Circa um 245 you tell me you’re stuck on 245 stuck on 245 tell me what it was unbelievable support out there in in
Duin it was amazing it was so good like there were so many sections where you’re just like cuz I actually I thought I was going to drop at around like 15 miles I was really feeling rough and then you kind of come into like you know little
Corridor of support and it just like brings you forward so it was brilliant it I honestly felt when I did it from the RDS to the Finish Line I was just carried in by the support so unbelievable and then when you’re in a home a home Club Jersey and everything
You know it’s a oh yeah down by Chapel lizard the were brilant excellent and tell me you’re known more for Ultras and things now what’s next on the agenda uh I guess I’ll have to do donad D in February you know got to do Donna D got to keep Anto

Then a wonderful Race by Ireland Steven scolan to come third make the overall podium win the national title and run 211 Lil’s Ryan Cree was second behind him uh with a 214 and then Ryan for Sight rounded up the Irish Podium with a 214 high in his debut Marathon which is
A wonderful Run for the 27y old so that was the the men’s race it was sticky out there we Patrick Monahan get the Irish National Title in the wheelchair division he’s off to New York next week to uh continue on to end on his season um the overwhelming feedback from today
Has been that the report has been amazing we had salom NES win the women’s race with a 22628 just shy of the course record she made made her move as many do in the Dublin marathon on robok Road H and then we had a wonderful race in the Irish
Women’s race three women on the podium all over the age of 40 all mothers we had Anar mlin who has finally won that national title that has alluded her for so many years I for one and I’m absolutely thrilled she’s 12 weeks older than me I am so happy for someone who’s
A stalwart of the sport she ran a brilliant 234 she kept her cool she kept her nerve she was very patient she came fourth overall Gladis ganiel broke the Irish National f45 Record with an amazing 23708 she’s 46 years of age and then rounding out the Irish National
Podium with circle loan with a 245 I know her well I just managed to get away from her at Mile 24 in the cork Marathon last year she’s um off to Don for the 50k um national championships shortly um and she was delighted and the overwhelming feedback has been that the
Conditions were okay we could have done without the little bit of drizzle but it was it was not too cold and it was there was no wind and it was ideal and the support out there is amazing I have to give a mention to my big brother who is
After smashing his Marathon PB he ran 327 he’s the only person in the whole world I coach he and he’s three years older than me and he’s from Westport AC so Tom Lee well done it’s been a brilliant day there’s a big smile on Jim mne’s face

Ridiculous to have stopped so many people seeing their love ones crossing the line so that woman could make every interview about herself! And to end it early when the majority of normal people are finishing! Poor
So many people watching online to see friends and family finish, poor form closing live feed of the finish line.
Farcical, all the normal joe soaps coming over the line now, some of us watching hours waiting to see this moment and they cut it off. wud it have been too much to just leave it running without commentary , embarrassing
Same here from the Netherlands, waiting to see my niece finish soon. Can’t they just continue the live feed.
Either do a live stream or don't,should've been a split screen for interviews and then to stop live feed after waiting all day to see loved ones crossing is just ridiculous, bad form.
why stop the feed and have this woman on! Really disappointing!
Marathon start 22:39
Perhaps they should show a finish line version so that people can see all the participants who finished.
Can coverage be released with no interviews so we can see all finishers
5:08:00 keep moving don't stop! lol
Maybe next time, have the time of day, and location on screen. Would make it easier to find people.
Great run by Stephen Scullion. Let's go Lion!
So stoked for the Lion Scullion!
Folks the feed from the finish line is usually on the TLD Events Service channel soon after.
Very disappointing to switch to interviews..for people watching at home & unable to attend and watching all morning and just at 20 seconds out from seeing the person they wanted to see you switch to do interviews….
Well done Stephen!🎉
Well done to all 👍

well done Stephen!
Je voulais voir l'arrivée des coureurs arrivés après 5h45 car ils sont partie plus tard… Est ce qu'il y a d'autres vidéos svp?
3:22:20 The first three hour pacer comes across the line and then a few seconds later keep an eye out for the second pacer literally carrying a lad across the finish line to come in under 3 hours. You can see them at 3:22:27, right hand side of the screen. Epic stuff
MY MOM DID THAT ❤
30.10.2023. A runner from France says congratulation for this good vidéo of the high level of the marathon of Dublin 2023, thank you.
Can't wait to see Stephen's video about the race. I'm sure he will provide ample tears. 😂 Nice work!!!!
Yes scully!!!! ❤❤❤
