Bergara aggressively moves into the rimfire game with a lightweight precision rifle based on the good ol’ Ruger 10/22. This is not your average plinker. With its custom parts, tight tolerances, and threaded carbon fiber barrel, the BXR is a serious machine for seriously fun work.

You’re a Monster so we’re out here in the wilderness and we’re actually checking out the varara bxr 22 um very very light so I want to kind of give you um what I think of this rifle here it’s got a carbon fiber barrel and the stock is super super

Super light we have a Bushell scope on top of this uh with a vortex one piece scope rings this comes with a peni rail and we actually have a can on top does not come with a can so let’s talk about the features when you look at it it

Immediately comes with quick disconnects on each side on the butt and in the for end and we have two stud slings here if it’s fairly flat which I kind of like for doing a rest it works really really well there was we were shooting it all today and

Having a great time it’s monsters I mean just really super light really doesn’t weigh a lot um that carbon fiber Barrel we’ve been shooting it quite a bit still ice cold there’s nothing to it but that it is 22 um when it comes down to how it fits when you’re holding it your

Trigger pull is actually pretty decent uh the length of pull is a little small for me but not unreasonable now let’s talk about something that we discovered that I’m I like this but there is a problem so when you’re talking about things like the Winchester uh Wildcat which uses rotating magazine and of

Course the Ruger 1022 which has made them famous um this also uses a very similar magazine loading it not that problem the problem I have with this is when you try to unload it I’m used to being able to just push the button and having it pop out and

That does not happen with this rifle to get that megazine out I got to push it forward and dig it out now for a competition gun that’s completely unsatisfactory this would probably be a really good competition gun having that magazine stick in there uh this would be fairly useless as a competition gun

Because you can’t change your ammo very quickly you saw I have to actually dig this out uh when it comes to feel and balance uh the balance is actually really quite good uh when we were sitting at on stocks and we had a bag um no problems with this what I do like

Is you do have a cutout back here so you can actually use it for a bag Riser it’s actually set up pretty well um it’s got a very very soft butt thing and obviously you can adjust this for length of pull uh which we haven’t done

But right out of the stock brand new it’s not a bad 22 rifle um I love how how light it is but that magazine issue um is a problem if I was going to rate this um looks feel I would actually give it a five out of

Five uh balance I would definitely give it a five out of five lightweight God it ways almost it’s just perfect very very good five out of five when it comes to reloading I’m going to have to give it a three that’s really kind of a pain now I

Can’t tell if this is a oneoff like it just happens to be this particular rifle but that shouldn’t happen at all um overall options absolutely a five out of five what’s interesting is because this uh stock is very light the uh grip material here so it’s kind of like

Pebbled but because of uh the polymer that they’re using it doesn’t grip your hands so it’s really just as smooth as the rest of the stock so if I was wanting gripping material it’s for for show only it’s it’s not really there actually it’s not there at all

All I love the fact I have quick disconnect slings here um if this was a stock by magpol each of these would be $20 a piece which is absolutely ridiculous uh overall it’s a fun rifle to shoot the lightness of the barrel and that’s a big barrel um is

Great planking gun for your kids or for yourself I would probably recommend it for competition um if that’s a common Meg problem with this rifle no it it would not be suitable but overall I think it’s a good rifle how does this shoot let’s see so leaning up there obviously wasn’t the

Most stable but um you know it’s pretty accurate you know when I was actually aiming at the exit itself you know I was getting pretty close it’s a nice gun I I know if I’d use it for competition but it’s a nice Gun

  1. Hello sir! I have the same problem, the magazine fits really tight and I Have to use a screw driver to pry it out. I contacted Bergara several times and they sent me a new magazine but, still has the same issue. Last correspondence with Bergara the customer service rep said that they are supposed to fit that way. There is no way a magazine should fit that way, so I am using my 10/22 Ruger magazine, they fit tight but not as tight as the Bergara magazine. I ordered a pair of magazine extension adapters form Tandemkross and it makes it much easier to load and unload magazines. I even tried losing the action screw but to no avail. Bergara needs to correct this issue. Overall the riffle is very accurate with Lapua and SK ammo.

  2. I have the BXR Carbon I use for SCSA competition. I do not have any problem with it dropping the mags, both the Bergara or Ruger mags. I added a 6 MOA C-More red dot. I also added a picatinny rail under the bottom of the handguard with rubber grips and a finger hook. Very fast shooting rifle. It is a bit fussy with regard to ammo, most likely due to the Benz chamber. I typically shoot CCI Standard Velocity or CCI Mini Mag.
