Did a ride with a few steep climbs yesterday and a some point the rear derailleur hangers seems to have bent. The jockey wheels don’t seem to be lined up when looking down at the derailleur, with the lower one further out away from the frame. Hard to get a photo of but would you lot agree it’s bent? The hanger is built into the (steel) frame and seems to be okay…
What’s the fix? Disassemble and try to straighten the cages against a flat surface?
What might I have done wrong to cause this? I did let my Dad and Brother test it out quick after the ride, so maybe one of them fucked it by cross chaining for something ha.

Don’t really know how to fix it other than just buy a new one. Imo as long as it works then you shouldn’t replace or fix it. You could still try and fix or replace it though.

How sure are you that this happened during the ride? Us mere mortals usually aren’t able to bend a derailleur by cross chaining or the like, unless we really want to inflict damage.
Since you weren’t able to notice it in shifting, I’m assuming this has been there for a while and you’ll be able to continue riding with it.
I did read an earlier comment about someone taking a spare derailleur with him, just to be able to replace it if needs be. You could try that? But I think, if it is not audible / noticeable in shifting, you are good and it is just a little bend, no big deal.

Looks pretty normal to me, luckily even if it were bent there’s a pretty big tolerance (approx 5mm).
If it were bent you’d know about it because you wouldn’t be able to index all your gears properly – usually worse on 11 and 12 speed where you won’t be able to get the biggest sprocket indexed properly.
