I’ve replaced countless brake cables over the years and (wrongly) assumed it would be straightforward enough to do on my 2yr old e-bike, but when I started trying to release the cable, a bunch of springs flew out (the same level also held an integrated bike bell).
To top it all off, the standard brake cable replacement is bought turned out to be too short. Nightmare.
I’m trying to put it all back together, but it’s a bit of a nightmare because I’m not 100% certain where the springs were located. Anyone know of any online instructions anywhere? I *think* they’re Tektro EL555.
…or is it just a matter of taking my bike into the bike shop at the same time I return the short cable(s) and paying to have it done (I’m not even 100% sure the bike mech will know). 😩

Edit: it looks as though the whole lever assembly is relatively cheap and would probably cost less to replace than pay someone to fix. I’d still like to attempt a repair myself though.
I’m sorry, but whatever you are doing as a “standard brake cable replacement” is wrong. Disassembly of the brake lever is never required. You only need to align the slots of the barrel adjuster with the slot on the brake lever body to remove the cable. You (almost) never need to remove the entire lever from the lever body
One side of the brake lever pivot is offset compared to the other. That is where the lever return spring goes
