the outer cable is missing and end cap. Need to take the inner cable out to fit one. If its a very good and snug fit in the device it might live without one but the wires of the outer cable can bet pulled through into any gaps or damage to the outer plastic so its best practice to fit a cap.

Is this a KindShock? I believe I’ve worked on one of these before and the cable will always pop out without the cover installed on the actuator housing. The one I fixed also had a broken cover that needed to be zip tied in order to stay on and hold the cable in place. Bad design.
As for whether or not it needs a ferrule, I can remember, but if the housing fits in snug it’s probably designed not to have one. Also it’s not the reason the cable popped out.

That housing offends me. The cable looks kinked. I’d replace both.

You can get a dropper cable kit on amazon for cheep enough that i don’t think it’s worth trying to get that cable to work.
