I’m setting up new wheels and it seems like all the rotor lock rings I have laying around are too small? The ring of teeth on the rotor is wider in diameter than the lock ring. The lock ring fits (covered the teeth completely) on my other wheels that have Shimano rotors, but these wheels have SRAM rotors – but I was under the impression that all internal spline lock rings were the same size. 🤷‍♂️

Is there some specific, wider diameter lockring I need to be using or it is fine as is?

There is a style of lockring with teeth on the outside that uses a BB spanner, rather than a casette tool. That’s what you’ll need.

Here’s an illustration of both the internal spline and external spline choices. Some wheels (my Zipps did) come with the extra lockrings in the spare parts bag, it can’t hurt to check if they supplied them.

Edit: I think i might’ve totally misunderstood your question. Yeah, if you were able to tighten the lockring to torque, that’s fine.
