Storm ‘Zoltan’ has disrupted much of Germany and several Eastern European countries just days before Christmas. Hamburg began to be hit by flooding from Thursday evening, and strong winds caused damage in various areas, including Berlin and Cologne, disrupting train traffic, especially in northern Germany. Ski resorts in the Alps and Tyrol were also affected, forcing them to close.
