Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded medals to Ukrainian servicemen in Kyiv on Friday.

Zelenskyy handed out Hero of Ukraine medals to the servicemen and to relatives of the those killed in action.

“Russia hoped that we wouldn’t withstand even 5 days, but thanks to the heroes present here today, thanks to the heroes among us, and thanks to our unity and the desire to live freely – we keep fighting,” he said during a speech following the awards ceremony.

He added that Ukraine will fight the occupiers until “we free our land and people.”
