I remember when the meteor came out a few years ago now a few of you said okay that’s that’s a nice bike but I would love it if it could just have a little bit more power a little bit more CC well Royal Enfield have done it I

Think it was earlier this year they released they released the super meteor this is a bike that I’ve been gigantically excited for I remember even before it came out I was desperate desperate to ride this because I often play a game what bike would I genuinely

Buy if if I needed a new bike which you could argue I do need a new bike now with the Bonville broken and even even before this came out I thought this is it this is the perfect bike for me that 650cc Interceptor engine in a cruiser

Royal enfield’s version of a cruiser I was so excited this is probably only the third time I’ve ever seen one in the flesh to the best of my knowledge and hand on heart I’ve only ridden this 5 m from where it was dropped off in a van

Yesterday to here in the parking space and I had to bomb back off to London I’ve only just returned so this ride I’m going to take you on that will be the first ride and this really is the first walk around and initial impression it’s standard Royal Enfield stuff now I I’ll

Be completely honest I’m expecting a good bike I’m expecting a bike that’s finished to a high standard because that’s how high Royal Enfield have set their bar now I don’t expect anything less than very good proportions beautiful position lovely forward controls switch gear beautiful quality as well really nice quality switch gear

Here they’ve spent a little bit extra money on the areas that count you’ve got this Tripper navigation simple dial fire it up all sounds and feels very very nice 6,800 for the entrylevel model of these you can spec it with a a back rest and paniers and other things like that

Including a screen but this is in essence the strip back I think 6.8k pound sterling version 240 kilos 46 brake horsepower do you know I think it looks better than good I think it looks Sensational let’s fire it up head off in Ni switch for coffee what a surprise yeah I know what

A surprise E I like this I really like it it’s very nice okay let’s go I’m so glad now that companies are starting to make more sensible looking exhausts because there was a period when exhausts looked so bad on bikes the first thing you’d have to do is change it not even from a sound point of view but just from a looks point interview

Because they were so gigantic but I’m delighted that this is a very nice elegant exhaust one on either side and they both look great understated simple spelt streamline and with no obvious catalytic converter all that stuff whatever it is it’s all hidden away somewhere I don’t know where it’s

Hidden but it all looks very nice I remembered hope I brought the key the Bonville got picked up yesterday and I was just Tiding up the flat before I headed off back to IP switch and I was putting the bike Keys away and then I suddenly realized hold on why do I have

The bike key damn it I forgot to give Joe the bonaval key so I have to go and post this today so Joe can actually do some work in it I think Joe realized he got back pulled the bike off the trailer probably was going to turn it on see

What was going on and then he sent me a message and he said yeah you know what we’ve forgotten I said yes I know I know so I’ve got to send that [Applause] is Should There’s something about a cruiser every every single time I have a cruiser on test it’s it does something it slightly brings out the rebel in you I I love the feeling a cruiser motorbike gives me and this meteor super meteor definitely gives me that plus another good thing

We’re in IP switch we’re not in London anymore so you can leave the key in leave your helmet in and just walk off there’s no theft here I there is one thing I wanted to do before I leave my keys in the bike to prove a point let me put this a 650cc

Cruiser next to a cruiser which has a 1,000 CC displacement more than the super meter have a look at this side by Side for any of you that want a left field Cruiser choice this is something that almost never gets mentioned the Triumph Thunderbird 1600 CCN never sold in big numbers but gigantic Cruiser it’s very interesting to see them both side by side the super metor gives you every ounce of The Styling and

The cool factor of one of these big Cruisers but you get it in a much more compact relatively speaking usable package but from a styling point of view it’s got everything the super meteor and on another point of view if you are looking for something around the £7,000 mark the interesting thing about

These two you can get a used Thunderbird same price as a brand new super metor what’ you fancy old uh and gigantic displacement brand new modern reliability but you have to sacrifice some displacement it’s quite a tough one actually both lovely lovely looking bikes and these are not a common sight

Even here on British roads I have to say that that seat looks so comfortable it looks good doesn’t it yeah and so comfortable look at that I know that the quality of seat on that is incredible we were just saying if you want to make this genuinely comfortable for for a

Passenger Monaco’s just saying youve got to change the seat yeah absolutely because that’s Monica’s point of view not a comfortable seat no it’s not they do a touring version so you’d have to have that on it but in general we’ve just been having look at some footage

This is is a seriously photogenic bike it really from every angle lovely looking thing okay to the post office to send off the bonaval Key Have Problem Okay I’ll wrap it up there because I’m off to meet Danny and a friend of his so there’ll be a Triumph bobber a Harley-Davidson Diner I think that’s the only Name Diner and the super metor I mean three Cruisers all from different marks so I’ve got to race off to Orwell

And nip switch so I don’t miss system and hopefully go out for a nice 1hour ride yes for fun but really it’s work I need to do a proper test ride see what the metors like out on the open road so thank you so much everyone for coming

Along I’m going to race off now and I will see you all in the next one no doubt still on the Super Media thanks so much everyone for coming along and I will see you all in the next one

  1. Was the Triumph owner with you during the outdoor shoot ? I noticed he'd left his phone on the bike !!! Ipswich must be the "no crime" city in the country if he'd left the bike with the phone still on it….

  2. Great to see images of Ipswich town centre. I went to Suffolk college for two years back in the 90's, nice to take a trip down memory lane. The Super Meteor is a fine looking machine. Interested to hear whether you prefer it to the Classic 350. Keep up the great work!

  3. It's a very good looking cruiser type bike. But I would think 46BHP is a little low for good cruising. My old z650 had 64bhp and that's nice for keeping on about 150-60kmph.

  4. I rode it when it first came out very impressed the way it rode I’ve had all the Enfields I think that 650 engine is suited the best in that bike the only negative I had was it’s weight

  5. 46 hp no thanks, when will re put a decent engine in all there overweight bikes ,shame such nice looking bikes,I think freddie you would get bored with such a low powered bike

  6. Hey Freddie, the RE 650 twins have cat converters in two locations. One is located in the header pipe (at least on the interceptor/conti you'll see a short section of pipe with a weld at each end thay contains the cat) and a second one within the muffler. These are part of the reason there are such good weight savings on offer for those keen to replace the stock system with an (illegal) catless system.

  7. A++++. Monika is now nailing the camera work. Great shot selection and she films the aspects of the bikes you are talking about which few YTers do. Also other shots are great especially the little dog with the rainbow coat. A great spot. Choice of Background music excellent as well.

  8. Would love to see how you and Monika look riding 2 up on the bike. Super cool bike. Has a great old school look to it too. I love the dual exhaust and how it balances the bike out. Like you said Freddie. It looks good at every angle!

  9. Quick recommend as you are changing between bikes often – you should take a look at the carabiner style helmet locks since you can move them between bikes seamlessly and they’re so small you can just keep on the bars or in your jacket when not riding. Would make locking up your helmets very easy and less hassle than bringing them with you on errands/lunches/etc. Makes it so much easier when my girlfriend comes along for rides and I need the extra lock so we can leave them behind. (Maybe not in central London tho 😬) Cheers. Happy holidays.

  10. Great bike great video! I just subscribed to your channel and I’ve been really enjoying it! I ride a Harley Low rider S and I absolutely love it but you’ve really inspired me to get a classic 350. I love small displacement bikes and the older I get the less I care about horsepower and the more I care about comfort and enjoying the ride! Not to mention how good the classic looks. Thank you for sharing!

  11. Man I want one so bad but I just blew 17k on a new Hayabusa. Next thing I'm getting is a 650 super meteor. Hopefully next year, I really really REALLY like it. And yes I'd get it over the Triumph. Only mod I'd do is a different exhaust with more rumble in it and a bigger passenger seat. Everything else is gorgeous

  12. I owned a Thunderbird 1600, put 60K miles on it with just routine maintenance. It’s a great bike and here in the states it rolls down our highways without any trouble. I traded it in on a new Speedmaster as most of my riding shorter distances. If I had the garage space and more money I would have kept it as well.

  13. Saw this bike few weeks ago in its introduction here at a local dealer … nice touchs ,looks a bit over the top in its estetic and weigth but one thing that struck me in a bad way was that the voltage regulator;rectifier is instaled way down the rear swing arm in front of the rear wheel ,. not good placement for this tipe of equipment . it is exposed to all the weather , water, mud ,road salt ,rocks and all kind of debry and will for shure fail miserably in the short to mid term. not a good design desition by RE that will bite back shurely in the short term to the new owners . multiple electrical issues in the near future with this cofiguration design .
