Ok am I going crazy or should there be the little bracket with holes in it for the brake springs? This is the rear brake stay if a 90s MTB. I was hoping to toss some cantis on here but found they wouldn’t slide on.
Do I need to have something specific for this?

Update: I think I just realized this is what caliper brakes are. Someone chastise me if I’m wrong please and thank you.
these may be for u-brakes?
U-brake is correct.
