Just got a Carrera Vanquish, what Outboard BB for replacing crankset with a matching Claris set?

I know Claris is bottom of the Shimano barrel, but damn it is actually pretty damn good. Feels just like old 11s 105 (but obviously a bit heavier and only 8s).

Anyway, this bike, while cheap is surprisingly good, full carbon fork with internal cable routing, flat mount brake caliper mounts, frame seems like a decent quality butted alloy (no internal cable routing here unfortunately). The biggest negative for me is the crankset.

Which brings me to my question. I was looking on Amazon and a new Claris crankset to match the group set is cheap, and I would really want to have external BB. So, which BB will fit the frame and the Claris crankset?

Bonus Question: I see it also has only an 11-28 cassette, I can see the HG-50 also has an 11-32 option available, will the derailleur support a 32t cog?

    BB-R60, or BB-5700

It’s got a square taper crank on there at the moment, so you’d need a square taper crank puller (e.g. Park Tool CWP-7) and a BB tool (e.g. Park Tool BBT-32).

You’ll also need a BB tool for install (e.g. Park Tool BB 59.3 if you choose the BB-R60.) The Shimano BB’s come in a couple different sizes, so make sure you get the right size 16-notch tool for install.

I list the Park Tool ones as an example, you don’t **have** to get them from Park Tool.
