I pay a lot of property taxes, so in that sense, yes.

That’s the danger with an attention-grabbing video title; you get downvotes from all the people who didn’t actually watch it.

Watched this yesterday it hits on all the usual points. General taxes not user fees pay for a significant portion of infrastructure, cyclists also own cars and pay for registration, cars do significantly more damage to the road, cars require a lot more space and when you factor in externalities of all that driving drivers are nowhere near to paying for their true societal costs.
Of course drivers have been told this ad nauseam and it goes in one ear and right out the other. I’m not sure this video is going to change many if any minds. I swear I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had drivers argue with me about even induced demand which has been known about for decades and has mountains of evidence for it. External costs of driving are going to go right over their heads.

If by tax you mean offer a tax rebate for bike commuters then yes

We should get paid for cycling.

Bring ion the automated road tolls by (axle weight)^4. I will pay it.
Drivers can pay proportionally – (4000^4 / 300^4) = 31604 times whatever cyclists do.

Lol OP you haven’t been paying your taxes? 1/6 of my entire income goes towards things like this. That’s how taxes work.

I already pay road tax and I don’t own a car, roads are paid through general taxation.
If you want to base taxes on the same as cars then that’s emissions based which means we pay the same as electric cars – NOTHING.

I would accept a $10 tax on the purchase of bikes to never have to hear these comments again.

We already do.
EDIT: Short video worth the watch.

No. In fact, we should get paid.
