I recently acquired this 1989 Bridgestone RB-3 and am planning on “modernizing” it. However, I can’t remove this bolt that secures the bb cable guide. Why do I want to remove it when it’s on pretty good state? Well, I am planning on sandblasting the entire frame in order to remove corrosion and create a nice surface to apply some fresh new paint. That’s why this cable guide has to go. At least for now.
The bolt isn’t threaded (at least not traditionaly). I was thinking about drilling the bolt away, but before that, I come here asking for your knowledge. What can I do?

That’s just friction fit and I bet you could pull it out with a pair of pliers in a twisting motion.
If not, you can get a screwdriver under the head of the pin and lever it out.
If you want to put the plastic guide back on again use a rivet.
Easy out, or saw the cable guide away and visegrips.
Look inside the bb. You’ll see if it’s a rivet or friction fit
I’d Dremel the head slowly until you can pop the little bit into the bb shell
Try to carve a a slot so you can stick a flat head screwdriver on it, if that doesn’t work I’d bite the bullet and cut the cable guide off and see you could cut the head off or something
The knurling on the shaft you see is to hold it in and allow for some tolerance/deformation in install. It won’t unscrew with that. I’d just drill it out if it were me, assuming it really needs removed.
Not a bolt. It’s either friction fit plug, or some type of blind rivet.
Best way to get rid of it is to drill it out.
It’s a rivet. It should be drilled out! Use a center punch to put a dimple in the center and use a good sharp drill bits little smaller than the rivet head to drill it out.
