Lagunas Route in South Bolivia. Most painful week of cycling I’ve ever done, especially with 38mm tyres on the endless sand!

Amazing views, but utterly tortuous riding. Thunderstorms, insane headwind after midday, temperatures well below freezing overnight, nowhere proper to resupply for the duration, and of course the endless washboardy sand and sandy washboard. Doing it on 38mm tyres and a full touring setup was idiotic, but seeing 1000s of flamingos was probably worth it when I look back in a few years!
