I want to buy my first Gravel Bike and I have one in mind where I could get a great deal for. The KTM X Strada 20 for 1300€. It has a 55 frame.
Now I tried it, I road a gew minutes on it. The seller says it works for me. But I absolutely have no clue if it works long term without having back issues. I am 172cm tall.
Now I am very confused about the KTM sizing chart where it says 55 (48cm). What does the 48cm relate to?
Every person I ask says a 55 frame is too big for my height. But if it was in fact a 48cm one, that would explain it?
Can anybody help me out?

While I can’t answer your question, I can confirm that the chart worked for me (193cm = XL) for my X Strada 20 that I bought 10 months ago. I love the bike and would buy it again any time. (The way the cables go through the steering into the frame is just cool and unique and an extra bonus). At that price it’s a real bargain. You can’t go wrong.
As for those dimensions. I was told that while relevant with a model range, it’s not a figure that you can compare to other brands as the overall “fit” depends on other factors in the geometry and it’s just one of a few dimensions that are relevant. In the end, only a test drive will tell.
That sort of depends if you have freakishly long legs torso for your height. For reference, I am 171 cm tall with relatively short legs (inseam ~76 cm), and definitely would not fit on a size M, and would even consider size XS, which still has ridiculously high reach in my opinion. Standover height of size M is also really high, I would definitely not enjoy straddling the top tube and having to tip toe every time I reach a stop light or something like that.
I would pass up on the offer if I were you.
