It is more important that it looks: without it your bike can scratch the floor if you lower fully the seat post and roll it over your luxurious office wooden floor, or, say, 5 star holiday hotel. 😊

If not it should be.
Little tip. Drop your seatpost until it hits the floor, you’ll probably get a different sound if it’s dropped off already. No matter whether it’s there or not lift the seatpost up a smidgeon anyway. You don’t want the plug or seatpost dragging as you wheel the folded bike anyway.
