


Now it can be pushed from side to side after retighten. pretensioner has been tightened, has been hit with mallet but it seems like I am missing a spacer with the length difference?
Non-drive side crank doesn’t go in any further, but I think it’s meant to?

The arm might have been damaged by being ridden loose. Take it off and inspect it for damage. Don’t hit it with a mallet!
Go online on you tube as it’s a simple fix that is easier seen than I could explain. Essentially the piece inside the peddle, the plastic thingy, holds the peddle in place. Unscrew the two bolts on the crank, retighten the plastic piece inside the crank so it is tight … there is a special tool to use. Then equally tighten bolts back on crank.

What crank is that? Which BB are you using?
You see that thin bit sticking out the gap in the the crank bolts? There’s a pin in there that slots into a hole on the crank axle. You likely busted it with that mallet and will need a new one

The preload cap is responsible for keeping the crank in position laterally. I recently made an oversight while deep cleaning my bike while busy and did up my preload cap and security pin but not the bolts, luckily I caught it in about a week and did the bolts up and no issues since. So I doubt you’ve destroyed the crank as long as you haven’t ridden hard or for long.
In another thread you mention the preload cap threads coming off? I would replace that, maybe ask a riding buddy or LBS I believe they come with a crank so there should be some spares with them, the preload has to be kinda tight, they’re not loose but you shouldn’t need any leverage either. If it’s not tight you won’t preload your BB which causes a lot other issues. A slightly overtightened crank preload is better than under, because you won’t create much extra drag, if it’s wayy too much you’ll know from a backpedal test or a simple spin test
