Fabulous match this week – WOW! My head was spinning! Congrats to the winners and sincere commiserations to the losers – you really rallied. Alas, it was not to be. Thanks CP for our Monday fix!!
I realize that the highest scoring loser qualification system is not just for fairness, it also makes excellent TV. With it, there never is any garbage time in Round 1 because you're watching if the trailing team can reach the minimum target score.
Very exciting match! Special congrats to Edinburgh π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώπ ..valiant effort by Bangor. Really enjoying Amol as host..l think he,s doing a very good job.
I'm not British, nor have I ever lived there, but I always used to enjoy the elegant sound of British media. I realise that Received Pronunciation no longer exists, phased out as elitist, politically incorrect, and that there's a great variety of accents. Unfortunately, some quite literally grate on my ears, to the point that I tune out the speaker, in this case, the new host. He has a nice manner, but I no longer watch this series. My comment is at once a sort of apology and a cry of exasperation. The contemporary world seems to believe that form doesn't matter, or that all forms are equivalent, or on the other hand, that certain forms are even to be avoided because people don't want to sound what is referred to as "posh". My argument has nothing to do with politics — here in Germany, I vote on the Left/Green side. My point is, quite simply, that my ears aren't interested in socio-economics, and I can't listen without feeling what I'm hearing. Spoken language is like music. You either like it or you don't.
Presume I'm not the only one to notice that that famous alumni now mentioned are always non-native (when possible), or at least of immigrant stock and, of course, women, almost all of whom are mentioned not because they are famous but because it's Politically Correct to do so. In this case, David Hume was not only librarian but also an alumnus of Edinburgh University, along with Robert Louis Stevenson, Walter Scott, Alexander Graham Bell, and Charles Darwin, and other presently unmentionable white men.
The winners are bound to be early favourites, that was team work. Unfortunate for the losing team, they were so good that they might have won against some other team!
Thanks for posting. I thought this was a good show despite the result being determined early on – with Bangor remaining motivated for the 160+ total. Any concerns that whoever replaced Paxo have been obliterated by Amol, comfortably resonating his mark on the programme. The show is in safe hands.
My alma mater doing us proud once again! Well done guys! My wife took one look at the team and said "What a bunch of nerds!". She should know. She married one.

Trinity has now qualified for the repechage. Open and Southampton must still sweat it out.
Edinburgh are up there with the best so far ..
Just need to tag-out McGovern!
Two unis with majority foreign teams.
Is it me or are we seeing that a lot more these days?
12:48 for the weekly Indian food question
Wonderful to see the former Detroit Lions and now Los Angeles Rams quarterback excel in geography on University Challenge.

I think Amol needs a cushion to boost him up a bit π΅βπ«
Good match!

12:49 this is definitive proof that someone on the writers team LOVES indian food

This show is reborn!
God it was a butchery! π«
Big improvement. Bit of pzazz from the presenter even though there was another Guy Fawkes question.π
Wow, what a great winning score. Like last week, the losers only got going halfway through. Thank you Cosmic Pumpkin.
Disappointed by Bangor, my alma mater, not knowing 60s bands, but impressed that Edinburgh did.
Quiz starts 2:45
We used to get a few answers β¦ itβs way too elitist of late
I'm lucky enough to know this team from Edinburgh Quiz Society, they are a bunch of legends and lovely people too, and it shows.

MCU questions? I hope to see some DCEU questionst then
15:15 that was a somewhat risky guess at that point in the question, but it paid off.
Stafford is the new official geography freak of U.C. Brings to mind "GPS Max", the Singaporean-Chinese guy from a few seasons ago.
Thor film.

I suppose it was just my generation!
Stafford is a beast
Bangor seems like a really strong team, simply not nearly as strong as Edinburgh.
