Yeah, that shocked reaction when I said that a mobile phone conviction would probably double the insurance cost. You can see her eyes get really wide when she was looking forwards when I said that. Once again a driver thinks cyclists aren’t allowed on the roads and have to use cycle lanes. Dear god, people. Share the road, you might be a driver but you own the road no more than any of us.

  1. I'm always amused by how when you point out their wrong doings, they then become an expert on law and tell you that you are supposed to be in the cycle lane. Same thing happened with me and the two low IQ females used their combined IQ to argue that I shouldn't be filtering (even though filtering is completely legal here *if done safely of course*)

The problem with focusing on the phone (even when stopped) is that you start forgetting that you're driving sometimes. I've seen cases like that where the driver has forgotten to keep pressing the brake pedal and rolled into the vehicle in front. Other times they see cars moving beside them, think it is time to go and of course crash into the vehicle / pedestrian in front of them.

  2. She was an attractive woman and I'd have asked her for her number. 😍

But yes, that doesn't change the fact that she was stupid for using her phone behind the wheel, and therefore, she must pay the price for her actions.

  3. Modern cars such as the Merc in the video have apple/android car play where you can verbally dictate messages. There is no excuse to have your phone in your hand at any time

  4. Sure she was nice enough but she did try to deflect from her illegal phone use and came up with the old « why arent you in the cycle lane » trope, meaning.. « you have no right to come and talk to me ».

  5. At least the law applies to police in the UK. Good luck in Canada, trying to report a cop using their phone while driving. They also type on a laptop while driving without fear of penalty.
I guess cops aren’t affected by the distraction like the rest of us!

  6. I noticed her phone is set to red/amber night vision mode. This is not needed during the day. At night it helps with visual acuity as all astronomers know. This shows she is probably a more considerate illegal phone texter when she does drive at night. 🀣

  7. I feel I could learn a lot from Cycling Mikey and his polite friendly non threatening demeanour when dealing with infuriating behaviour. As a driver and a cyclist I am aware of the enormous amount of β€œentitlement” and frustration that comes with using a motor vehicle in the U.K. which frightens me when I am on the receiving end.
