  1. What's bothering me with the new design is the weird headlight design, i mean the DRLs mainly. in every angle it looks weird and out of place like an afterthought šŸ™ .. It might have looked decent without that DRL design :). The weight loss, refinement s and more ergonomic shape and design is awesome and welcomed. Especially for those who want to use this bike for more serious adventure touring :). But in reality most Buy ir for weekend rides and more sport touring type long rides and the adv characteristic just comes in handy in sketchy situations :). and for me what I loved about the 1250 GSA specifically is that beefy muscular look with that wide 30L tank and the headlight design etc. It looked distinctive and iconic :).. this new design now just blends in with every other mid to heavy ADV segment bikes.

  2. How would you compare the wind protection to the Honda AT now as I remember the test you and Christian did and the rain was pouring down and the GS had the better weather protection

  3. Just came back from the dealer. I was surprised that off the side stand the new bike takes noticeable more effort to set upright than the 1250 GSA. At 80kgs the GSA with two hands on the steering bars and a lean-on with my hips, the bike is up effortlessly. On the 1300 GS it also requires a push of the legs. I tried this multiple times alternating, wanting to be wrong. But no, convinced it takes more effort on the new. Don't know what it is. Maybe the cylinders are now higher with the gear box under, and looking to keep the same clearance. In this particular aspect feels more Ducati like, top heavy. A shame. The magic of the weightlessness of the big giant seems to be gone. Which was what made the previous bike incredibly easy to live with; and this comparison is with the GA and old GSA!. Let's see when the GSA 1300 comes out, but my suspicion is that people will not the thrilled.

  4. Great Review. Thanks for that! if you want a perfect Adventure Bike. I think this blows everything else away! I will hold on to my 1250 Gs Adventure for about 2 years longer and wait up the coming 1300GS options. i know there is more to come…..

  5. Nice review. But probably this is the ugliest bike and illogic bike on market!! Why u hell need electric windshield, blinkers in the handguards, totally ugly front lights… not sure about new gs

  6. The same useless and dangerous in a city traffic Italian mirrors again and again on each new GS model for more then 10 years. Hey BMW, stop doing this. Start to respect buyers.

  7. Is there an option to get rid of all the unnecessary stuff like indicators in the hand-guards, the warning in the mirrors, the adaptive cruise control, the assisted centre stand. I’d like more protection on the hand-guards covering the while of the top. I don’t like the headlight looks like it was smacked with a frying pan. The old headlight was rugged and attractive. Also how do you get a cable to your handlebars from the usb in the glove compartment?

  8. Thankfully they have solved all the issues of the others…..I mean the 1200 was the best bike ever – then the 1250 came along and fixed all the problems on the best bike ever. Now I fully expect the 1300 to fix all the faults of the previous best bike ever. And if you are a journalist, at no point should you criticise a GS as it's Emperors New Clothes.
