You can cycle from Rotherhithe in south east London to New Cross in south London, entirely on quiet streets and protected cycle lanes.

The route is 5km long (3.11 miles) and makes use of Cycleway 14 and Cycleway 4, as well as the traffic-free Woodpecker Road.

  1. That park after Russia walk, apart from the leaves and chicane, has those ridged paving slabs that because they (for whatever reason) lay so the ridges gp in the direction of travel, your tyres can tramline in the grooves in the wet. Be careful if you need to steer on them as they can be pretty nasty especially at this time of year.

  2. 5:11 did you notice the C14 signage (road markings and sign in front of you) pointing in complete the wrong direction? It’s been like this for years, since it was put in place, and I don’t know how to report it. I tried a few years ago but the section on the TfL website was broken. I have tied going left (in case it was correct and has been re-routed) but this there are no other direction signs after this.

  3. Just Spent a couple of months in London. Love all the cycle paths. Downloaded open street maps onto my Garmin and was surprised that all these cycle lanes are in there. I thought I was lost a few times, as the map would seemingly go nowhere, but have a hunt around and you’d find some little linking path.

    Enjoyed watching your videos.

  4. I heard C10 and thought "hang on, I thought that went through Bloomsbury?"… very surprised to learn it was the same route!

I love the current mix of history and cycle commentary – always nice to hear interesting facts when relevant, as well as important things about the route. Keep it up.

  5. Have to do a bit of promo here lads but for anyone trying this route, right nextdoor to the mayflower is my mate Laurence's restaurant "simplicity". The mans a great chef and a lovely fellow, stop by for a chat if you try this one out
